4th Gen Strategies

I want to hear what strategies you guys find to be the best in the game, or at least for you. Use examples, like when you went up against Red or something. Also, I would like to know if you guys have any pokemon you think are a must for any team.

Well for any random pokemon that is a must I would have to pick Metagross, very strong but slow but has great defense also for starters Totodile/Evos. are good since It can learn some good TMs to beat almost any types, as for strategys if you are training at Elite 4 with weak pokemon you could if you dont have exp share start with one, switch to a HM slave so the Elite 4 dont kill your strong pokemon then switch to strong and pwn it with 1 hit.

Well obviously I could just say use a competitive team that works well together, but this is in-game HG/SS, and let's face it: almost no one uses logic or common sense when playing Pokémon, so I suppose hidden game mechanics are no-nos.

My strategy, apart from what I said above, which, let's face it, isn't needed at all when you're going up again the AI, is to just use my favorites, as I'd rather squeak by using some cool pokémon than OHKO every pokémon on the AI's team using a bunch of overpowered behemoths.
