Strategy and Tactics Pokemon GO?

I would like to know where I can find the best strategy for Pokemon GO?

Currently, the best place I could find is the Pokedex at this site:

I am learning fast, however I need to increase my progress! :). Like for instance, before I challenge a gym leader, what should I be doing? I am currently going on that previous pokedex, viewing the type charts and picking the best matches, but what else can I do? I really want to take over gyms asap!

There are very very many and they're generally very well-received by the community there. Has a lot of tips and I'm sure plenty for gyms too. =)
