    Stupid, stupid question ._.;;

    I should probably know this but I don't. Why is it that when I try to edit the title of a thread, it edits the optional subtitle that appears when you look at the thread instead but not the title itself? (ie the one you see on the link to the thread)? Is there a way to get around this? <<;

    It cannot be done, not even by an admin. It's the way vbulletin is designed. *sarcasm*

    ottermi619,
    Yet another of my pet peeves.

    Mods can edit the title, so I'm betting admins can as well.

    Users, however, can't. It's just a rule that's been set up.

    Chairman, you can edit a thread title. You go to thread tools and then Edit thread and then change the title. :D

    Wrong forum--I can only do that in OVP. The only options I get anywhere else are show printable version/email this page/subscribe/add poll. Thanks for the idea, though ^_^

    That's because it's the only board you're "mod" at. It works like this:

    Mods only have the full mod-level options at their boards. Anywhere else and they're limited to whatever the Admins allow.

    Super Mods, or Global mods, have full mod-level options at any board.

    Admins have all options at all boards.

    There ya go.

    thread topics on phpBB vs vBulletin

    I know that in the phpBB, the thread title is the same as the title of its pilot post. If you edit the pilot post's title, you also edit the thread's title line. I regularly post to a broadcasting site that's powered by phpBB.

    ottermi619,
    Cuss me all you want, but the site I post to is the Michigan Radio and TV Buzzboard.

    Yeah, you have to do it through thread tools. I was just seeing through your first post if I could do it from there but it just changes the post name. You have to use your mod powers to edit it, or have an admin, praetor, or s-mod change it if you don't mod that area.
