[Sugestion] Spoilers

I noticed a member that had a spoiler about the sixth harry potter book. I Pm'd and asked for it to be removed cause I didn't want the book ruined for others as it was for myself. Now I know it wansn't exactly direct but it implied about the ending of the book. On another forum the book was ruined cause some guy put the exact ending of the book. (Sorry to name names to the member I am reffering to)

Now I think that spoilers should be banned from signatures, or a spoiler tag should be added as a BBcode.

Also, if this was already discussed and denied then this thread may be closed.

Well if someone starts a thread with a definate spoiler, then yes they should put spoiler somewhere in the title of the thread. That's pretty much all that can be done. Im sure we arent gonna ban such things as that cause it has an ending.

Then we can ask the member to have spoiler somewhere in that. It's really all that can be done. Only uppers have control to signature editing powers now and they are quite busy most the time.

this was brought up when the new Star Wars movie came out as well. I believe the answer was "Turn off sigs until it passes" or something like that.

I recall that also. If you would like to wait for an upper to personally come in here and say something I hold off. If anymore replies come in though and turns into something more I'll have to ask you to take it to PM.

Yeah I remember that. That wasn't a prob for me. I saw the first showing. xP

But I think we need to find a solution without having to turn off sigs. I know I can't speak for all members, but I like to look at signatures and I wouldn't want to turn off all of them just not to see a couple of spoilers by accident.....

Anyways, I'm not quite sure there is any other way. Spoiler tags? They were removed, but I can't remember why. xx

They could possibly be reinstalled if the reason they were taken out was nothing major. Just make a request for them.

Well they were really abused last time, maybe we could just make them were you could only use them for spoilers and not just for random crap.

The best thing to do is turn off sigs and keep it off till you read the book.
Ok look at it this way. Lets say we got a spoiler thing going right now (I do wish we did have one), it's up and running and everything works. Are you going to PM every single member and ask him/her to add the tags? It's like that Star Wars thing, it's done there, they might say no etc. It's just best to turn off sigs, I know you might like to read sigs (I do too), but you don't want to blow the ending of the book. So do what JA did, turn off sigs till it's over.
