Suggest It!

I'd love to see a trading/selling subforum. Most forums including trading have great success.

Just a thought.

I agree, trading & selling cards online should be allowed (its pretty much the objective of a TCG). A start would be to alter Rule #5 so that threads can be made.

Since I came back, I also noticed that COTD is too cluttery. I mean on the front page of the 20 or so posts over half of them are COTD ones.

Usually I only look at/post in the COTD ones that interest me (very few) because there are loads. If there were fewer COTDs coming out, I would be more inclined to post, since with fewer topics, the discussion would be better and the thread would be less likely to be knocked to the bottom of the page by more COTDs.
I'd suggest about 2 or 3 cards a week. :\

Also I don't see the point of this rule(?)
3.) YOU MUST RATE THE CARD IF YOU ARE REPLYING. When rating a card, you MUST give a valid reason why you gave them that rating. Effective 7/2: You also MUST leave a number rating if you are reviewing it. This applies for Fake Cards too. No wacky ratings like 546465/666606060. Keep it out of 5 or 10 or give it out of 5 stars or something. Aslong as it's sensible and real.

Erm why exactly? This rule makes me want to post less in any COTD sections. If I see something worth making a small comment on (like somebody makes an error or I just want to chip in a few thoughts) I would, but then Id have to rate the card as well? Effort really ;).
But anyway I think this rule is useless. Its basically a restriction to posting and doesn't exactly benefit anyone really. If an average was taken or the ratings were stored, then maybe so.
Eitherway to actually rate a card accurately is easier said than done. Most ratings I've seen are quite debateable.

Just my 2 pence.:)

The only reason I don't want to start trading threads is because of rippers and thiefs. Then n00bs would try to hold us accountable for not getting their cards. Then we would have to do all this stuff with IP checks, telling them what mail fraud is, reinstating the rep system, getting iTrader on the forums, etc. I don't think the admins will approve because I asked them before. If I started trade threads without permission, it would be my head. :P

I encourage people all the time to make other threads besides COTD. If you are so concerned, make a discussion topic. Make a topic about a local tournament, or make a topic about bad and illegal moves people have made when you battle them. Anything would be good. If it means that I have to lessen the COTD, then I will, but you and the other members have to do their part by making other threads also. Just because I am a mod, doesn't mean I always have to start different topics.

I'm willing to do 3 cards a week, but even so, will people post more with less COTD? I mean will the Daily TCG become more active? How come no one talks about the new sets in the Daily Chit-Chat, or start a new thread about the set? It bugs me that people can't make topics about the TCG to lessen the COTD threads. I'll try my best to encourage people and I will change a few things with COTD, but I want dedication from the members who visit as well.

I made this rule because I noticed a lot of the n00bs posting "I really like this card" or "This card sucks" without elaborating why the card is good or bad. I want people to comment on cards and cause discussion about them like it has been in the past. I also expect people who see the one sentence posts above to report them, but I hardly ever see reports in the TCG section for whatever reason. I don't really think it's much effort after a person is done writing out a big review to add two or three numbers and a slash at the end of a post. After each COTD I say "Rate & Review" not either or. However, nothing is stopping you from not rating OR reviewing. If you are replying, and reviewing, you must rate, however, if you feel the need to correct someone, rating is not necessary. I could reword it so it's more clear.

I really have no issues with people correcting others as long as it's not mean-spirited.

But anyway I think this rule is useless. Its basically a restriction to posting and doesn't exactly benefit anyone really. If an average was taken or the ratings were stored, then maybe so.

I'm just trying to do my best to prevent spam really. You can post whatever you want in a TCG topic, but if you are reviewing, you must rate. It's good reference for people building decks.

Eitherway to actually rate a card accurately is easier said than done. Most ratings I've seen are quite debateable.

Then debate. That's what I want to see. Debate with them on why they gave them that rating. Don't be mean or crass however. But yeah, if you feel like debating, then do so. I don't really mind.

Just my 2 pence.

Much appreciated. I will reword rule 3 so it's more clear. COTD is reduced to 3 nights a week (M/W/F).

Thanks very much for you reply and taking in some of my points into consideration. Guess I'll contribute some news to the front page too.

Cheers. ^_^

I'd be more than happy to make threads about official sets if you want. Only current sets, mind (so DP and MT at the moment and Shining Darkness at a later date), but like you say, I think people will have things to say about these sets.

I don't know what you mean, but I'm a big fan of the Pokemon Star cards! Registeel Star is my current target!

If you really care

I want to know what you guys want so I can make things lively. I'm willing to listen to what you have in mind.

You seem like you really care, which I did for some forums, and helped them especially in tcg, which is hard to pull off, for any pkmn forum. Seeing as I'm a new member here, and probably anything I say would get shot down, I wanted to pass this by, but, I know how hard it is, so here are my suggestions (I speak from experience, I used to run a cotd, everyday on a big forum):

When you post a card, give a review yourself, and possibly have a reviewers team. It will seem like you worked hard on it, and it will seem more professional. The problem with the pkmn tcg, is that not many can play. What needs to be done, is educate them, and COTD is a perfect way to do it. Once they get the hang of it all, they'll start posting more and more, and also in better quality. Adding, some "fun fact" to the card, would arise interest. Of course these "fun facts" are hard to find, but just anything, a story on how it was created, or some famous person who owns it (famous people make the world spin these days, sadly). Try to get people to play on redshark (a way to play the tcg online). This saves them much hassle, and arises interest. However, most can't play and need help, you or I, or anyone, could make a few articles about the tcg. Tournaments with prizes (which could be anything, from a sig trophy, to an increased postcount) would arise much attention. Also, posting a deck takes time, and if people see their threads dying, the few will eventually stop posting them. A team, that reviews decks on a constant basis would help for now.

Also, you know this community better than I do, what else motivates them?
