Suggestion/Question.

Hello again everyone.

Oh well.

I have a question regarding the "Post Your Picture" thread. As I've noticed, everyone puts the link to their image in the image tags, and it stretches out the screen and causes a great bother to wait for 100 posts per page, with each post having 2 or 3 pictures. =)

I've also noticed that in the "Post Your Desktop" thread that Tetsuya-san has said:

May i request that you all hyperlink big images/desktops? It's not healthy for 56K use.

Could you guys possible implement this for the "Post Your Picture" thread? Especially for members who have images that are about 32156178412464x4156465167864 (not an exact number but you get my point).

Also please don't say "XD omg just turn off teh imagez!!11!1 XD", or "XD omg just reduce the amount of posts per page !!!1!1!!1 XD", because that is rather pointless seeing as how it's an, erm, picture thread, and even with a reduced posts per page it's still a bother.

The Pictures thread doesn't really screw up much for me with the pictures, it just takes an extreamly long time to load, but my screens set up extreamly wide so thats probley why, but I don't even go into the desktop thread anymore because it takes so long to load and when it does the image are so huge.

Another forum I go to, in the Picture thread, the user can only post one picture of themselves then the rest have to be links. Its worked really well. Perhaps thats somthing to think about?

Yeah, same here, just takes forever and a day to load, often times causing my POS computer to screw up and crash AND DIE. /drama. But seriously, people who have huge arse images and BMPs or whatever make me want to jump off of a bridge. I do want to see what ya'll look like, but I have to wait while my computer comes to a screeching halt and start over again. Images that are around your size (no offense or anything) + a couple hundred = My computer dying. ;_;

The reason, oh rolling one, is because the post probably would have been overlooked, hence why I'm making a big deal out of it so it won't get lost in the dark depths that is the Discussion thread. =)

Maybe, but even still, that's 100 posts per page. O_O;; It's not really fair to set a size limit to the pictures but on the same token it's also not fair to wait 138674631687463474 hours while they load.

Very true, but I dread to think what your PC must be like on picture threads if you think it would take that long. Most people are to lazy to (yes I know its ridiculous) to click on links, they like to see a picture then go look at the others, but I do see your point, its just the Picture thread..is well for pictures linking them all would make it the "Link pictures of yourself" thread xD

^ Good idea, but even still, if the jpg's, are, say, 1200x900... That's still a killer.

I think we dialup users should have the most say here, considering those of you with faster connections likely have no idea how painful it is.

For example... I went to the bathroom while loading a 25-post page of pictures a few months back. Returned 15 minutes later, and it was -still- loading. -_-; It's really inconsiderate.

I'd suggest restarting the post thread with new rules (and possibly even the discussion thread too, to be consistent). The only thing that worries me is that, by the global community rules, people would be allowed to reply to people who don't follow those rules, which... defeats the purpose of having a thread solely for posting pictures. Then again, it also defeats the purpose of having moderators to enforce the rules, but whatever.

Honestly, even on DSL it's a pain in the arse to wait for it to load. I like Ty's idea though, of restarting and linking them instead of waiting 2154615211304563345354654 hours to load. ^_^

Well it's easy to enforce a rule to that thread. But anyway it's half the reason I disallowed attaching BMPs at PC.

But the question is, are you going to enforce it? =)

Each OC mod and s-mod can check the thread daily, and delete/edit posts with img tags. Quite simple really. But again, the PC rules don't stop people from replying to posts that break the rules, which would clash with the concept of a picture-only thread. Will this thread be an exception?
