This is something I know that has plauged the forums for quite awhile, especially with the continual exchange of staff.

My suggestion is to create a user that would service as the first poster in all the "Official" stickies, and threads.

For instance, here the sig limits are listed, and it's done by a "Normal User" (Not everyone will know that he was once an admin x3)

Another thread that could use it would be this one. Yeah, the thread says that Steve OKed it... but not everyone knows who Steve is.

Here we have a thread that's headed by a user that hasn't visited the forums since April.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be very inclined to follow those rules. >_>

At one point in time (they've been replaced I'm pretty sure) there was a Rules sticky that was headed by a banned member. Now that looks really weird, and kinda hints that following those rules... leaves you banned? It could be confusing, especially when there are a lot of younger members here. (Not to imply that younger members are always stupid, but it can be confusing to some.)

Now, to the purpose of the thread. I suggest making a user (PokeCommunity Information or something like that) which would be the head of the big stickies, like Rules and Policies. (Silly stuff like the DCC or MotM or the various lounges obviously wouldn't need it)

It could easily be done by installing this mod, and just going through and changing them up quick.

I'm not sure on how much vB.org will show to a guest, so here's the description:
It can change the owner of multiple threads and post. For this, it adds another option to your mod actions on forumdisplay and showthread. After selecting some threads or posts, you can choose the new owner by name or UserID. By name works with the AJAX namesuggestion, we all know it from writing a PM. After changing the name(s), it rebuilds thread/forum counters.

I use it on my own board, and it works great. I have my various Rules posts all under a single user, and I don't have to worry about that user leaving/getting banned/disappearing/whatever.

...man that was a long post.

I hope I made sense, and that someone bothers to read this ^^

I like the idea. If the idea will be used, all staff members should have access to the account then.

That's like on LJ, only all of LJ fandom community got annoyed at the whole condescending manner they carried out 'theljstaff', etc. etc. but I don't think that's relevant.

I agree that it's a good idea, and it might make people listen.

Using the mod I linked, they could set it up so that staff are able to change the account owner. Depending on how much they're willing to allow, they could set it so that only smods+ could use it, or whatever. ^_^

Heh. I think that's a great Idea. It would help things a little bit if you ask me and they could change the first post owner to the current moderator for that forum or any S-mod and up.
But having a dummy accout that all staffies could manipulate doesnt seem to secure to me but it wouldnt hurt to change the owners of the rules threads to the new moderator of the forum when the original posting Mod quits/gets banned or fired.

/me pokes a staffer to reply on their thoughts?

We're currently reviewing the plugin & suggestion.

In my opinion, I think the mod would be very useful for other aspects such as changing club owners, tournament threads, etc.

However, I think current moderators need to update rule threads when the owner has quit/fired. As for sub-forums without moderators, i.e. CQ&A, rule sets need to be reposted by SM and up.

    Bump again.

Upper staff, could you at least change the stickies made by banned members? z_z It looks really bad.

I think that thats a great idea, it would help out a ton.
