Reminder: jsut because that pump up baton pass thing may work on Mewtwo does not mean it will work on anything else. :\ Ninjask may currently have teh highest base speed But I've out ran a Ninjask at the same level before. An arial Ace , being it always hits first and never misses, would take down Ninjask in a flash. then a grass pokemon lcould easily take down armaldo. Basically saying, Tropius would own that combo with the right moves.
If you go with a tropius counter, I suggest these moves for it.
Aerial Ace.
Giga Drain
Swords Dance
And since I believe Tropius has chlorophyll, I'm not sure, I woudl suggest sunny day.
of course, that is only a counter, meaning you may not have a need for tropius unless you knwo you're opponent intends on using that Baton passing Ninjask combo.
Obviously, this is another ingame scenario or we're still age the age of putting solarbeam on random objects.
a) if you outran one, then you aren't up against one that's EV trained, which is a minimum requirement to even think about winning competitively
b) Ninjask baton pass works against ALL Pokemon besides rock blaster (who can break the sub in one blast then smash Ninjask directly next blasts), and pseudohazers who will force Ninjask out to be switched.
c) grass attack against Armaldo? That's rather pitiful, as Armaldo will survive out of it due to bug neutralizing the attack, and HP Bug finishes off the poor Sceptile (well no one else uses Grass attacks anyway, or it's HP Grass which means water types, and Demonion has indicated that this combo fails against water type already.)
d) Tropius can't do crap. Even with sunny day it's still slower than Ninjask.
e) Have fun pulling off that setup, hoping that you'll survive... Ninjask doesn't even have to pass to Armaldo to destroy this Tropius. Sub 4 times, activate liechi (use swords dance in between turns if sub doesn't break), then aerial ace and ggkthx trade me the Ho-oh please.
f) Like I mentioned before, DO NOT look at type advantages matching the STAB type advantages (such as thinking that a flying type will always defeat Ninjask, or how Marowak will certainly destroy Raichu.) Should be considering a Pokemon's common moveset when you're thinking of these "advantages." Marowak seems to be able to thrash Raichu every time, but all intelligent players know that Raichu will have surf, and any electric types will have either HP Ice or Grass to knock you out (or at least, a good 90% of your hp making you useless because the quick attacker will come out to finish you off.) Ninjask just can't die to anything without pseudohaze, icicle spear or rock blast, so Tropius have to use whirlwind if it even wants to think of a "tie."
