suicune moveset

Dig- Actually works. Before all of you hardcore Gameboy/Pokebattle competitors chew me out, hear what i have to say. This is in-game. Dig offers a good way to counter electric types. With prediction, dig can evade the impending Electric attack and score a REALLY good hit on the electric type. This isn't competetive battling. The AI in the game is stupid. No one switches on Dig/Fly in the game. Dig is a fairly solid choice.

And if he decides to use this in a competitive battle (note that he hasn't revealed his intentions yet) he will have wasted a moveslot. Not to mention that in two turns, a STABed Surf off a decent Special Attack stat will do more damage to an Electric type in the two turns it takes to use an unSTABed Dig from a significantly lower Attack stat.

Giving quality help for the best performance is what shane, AB, a few others, and I do. We won't spare a slot for Dig Suicune or Rock Sliding Shuckle just because it's AI. If that were the case, anyone asking for our help wouldn't really need it.

When someone asks for a better moveset than the crappy one they currently have, you don't want to suggest an equally crappy one. It is the standard moveset for a reason, regardless if it is in-game or not.
Gah! Holy geez! Ok this is in-game, people! Stop acting like he has to use the standard uber-crazy set.

Here's what will make a solid in-game moveset:

Surf- An absolute must. Suicune is a water type. Surf is the best water-type move. The end.

Ice Move- It needs some kind of Ice move. Ice Beam is the best, yes. But Blizzard could work well too, it's easier to find. The only time you'll need to use this move is when Grass types threaten you. In all fairness, Suicune shouldnt even be fighting a grass type. If it is, you're better off having the Mondo-super-powered Blizzard behind you to take it out in one hit.

This is totally incorrect. Suicune not only uses Ice Beam against Grass-types, but mostly against Dragon-types that resist its Water move. An Ice Beam boosted from a Calm Mind also hits types that are normally neutral to it pretty hard too. Suicune, with proper EVs and Calm Mind and Rest, can battle against Grass-types all day long without needing the inaccurate Blizzard.

Time for some chewing out. LOL I blame these bad perceptions on the programmers of the game that make novice trainers think everything is about "Super Effective" moves. Dig is a HORRIBLE move on Suicune. It doesn't matter that it is "Super Effective" against Ground-types. What they don't understand is that an unboosted STAB Surf that feeds off of Suicune's higher base SAtk (90 compared to 75 base Atk) does almost the same damage of an unboosted SE Dig. It is almost identical. The big difference is that while Dig takes two turns to inflict that damage, you can do the same damage in one turn with Surf. You can also use one turn to Calm Mind and increase both Suicune's SAtk and SDef, which not only makes Surf hit harder (making it a 2HKO against Jolteon instead of a 3HKO), but it allows Suicune to take less damage from a STAB Thunderbolt that is also SE. So, as you can see, Dig is absolutely useless on Suicune, especially if you are smart and use Calm Mind.

Calm Mind- Its merits have already been discussed.

Roar- Is always fun. Sometimes, there's just a good situation to use Roar.

Protect- Always a viable choice, but I don't really reccomend it too highly here.

Toxic- Same as protect, it can have a use on any Pokemon. Makes a great filler move.
All the other options are perfectly acceptable, although not as good as the one that has been suggested many times already.

its in-game since i dont have anyone to battle with.....

but right now:

Surf
Gust(unsure of this-but it's good for capturing weak wild pokemon on sevii islands 4-7)
Ice beam
Calm Mind (i never chastised this, its s good move)

i might stick with this, i'll think about rest though...

but why use rest on suicune?
mewtwo could have rest and it would just be the same...
any legendary with good stats would just be the same

*note: sine i dont have another GBA, i cant duplicate items or pokemon or anything*

finally, someone who shares my point of view for a change... although dig might as well be used on some other pokemon...

So...the actually good Suicune set has been agreed on by me and all of the best competitive players around so you decide to stick by the judgement of a random N00Blet (Which was proven deficient already) because it coincides with yours?

...

Quite honestly, I'm speechless. If you don't want a working moveset then by all means stick Dig on it. And while you're at it, throw in Iron Tail, Gust and friggen' Mimic for all I care, but if you want a Suicune that is actually useful for anything besides clubbing down pokes whose levels are half or less than Suicune's and are under the control of an AI that can be bested by a team of Feebas (or even Magikarp) then go with Calmcune and Calmcune is best with Rest, make no mistake about that. As for your argument...Rest on Mewtwo is stupid because A) its defensive stats are weaker while - at the same time - its Speed, SAtk, and movepool are far superior, making it a natural sweeper and B) it already has access to Recover which provides faster healing, the fact that you would even compare the two on this proves that we aren't getting through to you. -.- If you want arguments for Rest, how about you actually read what Aragornbird and Shane said? Even without Sleep Talk you can get away with only one turn of inactivity by - as Shane pointed out - using pokéflute, an item which you must have acquired to even have Suicune and which you can use as many times as you like. xP Really, though, if you can't ignore the cries of your N00B instinct in this case then replace Gust with Reflect or Toxic instead. Do I need to argue the usefulness of that move too? If so, then forget about it. This section is for people who actually want to make their pokémon better, not the kind that desperately seek folks who will call their wrongs right. :\

Where is that "Users You Should Listen To" thread?

Where is that "Users You Should Listen To" thread?

You know, I've been asking myself that very same question. .___.

where do u get the pkflute?

Pokémon Tower, it's the one you use to wake up Snorlax and get to cycling road and the route south of Lavender. Unless you've cheated, it should still be in your Key Items pocket and before you even ask: yes, this key item can actually be used both in and out of battle and as many times as you like.

i'll try rest then..... since there's the pokeflute...

thought there wasn't something in fr/lg that could be used to wake pkmon up... thought the flutes were only in r/s/e...
