I've been using Swellot alot now, and let me tell you he's a great Flying Pokemon. I used to be a big fan of Pidgeot, but I'm starting to like Swellow more now, plus he looks alot cooler. I also like Swellow's move list to.

    What are you're opinions?

Not only is Swellow better than Pidgeot, but so is Dodrio and Fearow. Pidgeot might have the highest totals stats, but that base 70 SAtk doesn't help much. Dodrio is far and away the best of the group with Swellow and Fearow battling for second. Fearow has more attack, but Swellow has speed and Guts/Facade. Pidgeot is a distant fourth, and the crappy GSC birds (and Farfetch'd/Togetic) just shouldn't be used.

I do like Swellow but I still like Pidgeot as my fave bird type Pokemon and that has been the way since I first started playing Pokemon 10 years ago.

Battle Wise Swellow is much much much better than Pidgeot. Swellow is better than dodrio IMO. If Dodrio had guts and could pulll off a Facade. Then he'd be better than Swellow. Swellow is the best Normal/Flying type so far.

But Stat and useful wise its,Dodrio>Swellow>Fearow>Pidgeot>all the other crappy birds. The only thing Fearow has on Swellow is drill peck >_<. If Swellow could learn drill peck he'd be feared O_O.

meh, i dont really like swellow that much....im more of a classic pidgeot fan....swellow has the speed, but i think pidgeot has the power

I couldn't disagree more. The problem with Swellow is that you have to be statused in order for it to be powerful, either getting inflicted or inflicting itself (Rest). Dodrio has much higher base Atk (base 110 vs. base 85), has Drill Peck (AP 80 over AA/WA AP 60), and can hit hard right away. There is no comparison. Dodrio is far and away the best Normal Flyer.

Actually, it doesn't. Pidgeot's base Atk is only 80, while Swellow's is 85. And again, both are dwarfed by Dodrio's 110. In case you are not familiar with base stats, let me put it a different way. Pidgeot's Atk stat will never be higher than 284, while Swellow tops at 295. Dodrio, just to drive my point home, hits 350.

I like using Fearow as opposed to Pidgeot. Mainly because of of its Drill Peck move (not including the Legendary Zapdos).
But since Normal/Flying types aren't really that good, I go for a different Flying type. Skarmory... but Zapdos, definately the king of birds, because of its dual Flying/Electric type.

Meh. I cannot count Legendaries when we are talking about something like this. Of course Zapdos/Articuno/Moltres/Lugia/Ho-Oh are going to be better all around flyers. That is why I emphasize Normal flyers in my post.

I like Pidgeot more, regardless of who is the best... Fearow and Dodrio are ugly... Swellow is okay too, but I just like Pidgeot...

Okay, so we're not talking about Legendary Bird Pokemon. Fair Enough.

Ah, so Dodrio is the best Normal/Flyer? Don't forget Tri Attack. I hate it when Dodrio uses that move.
But anyway, as Karen (Elite Four) said in Pokemon G/S/C, "people should win with thier favourites", even their fave Flying type.

I remember training a Dodrio along time ago, and I remember him fainting pretty quick in battle. It used to get me ticked off.

Honestly, what's so good about Tri-Attack? Everytime an opponent uses that attack on me, it usually doesn't do anything to me.

i like pidgeot the best as well.second best of mine coming in as skarmory, then swellow, the dodrio and fearow.dodrio and fearow are just plain ugly >_< i only catch them to complete my fr/lg pokedex. =3

Tri Attack has a 30% chance of freezing paralyzing or burning the opponent. Plus Dodrio gets STAB from it

Out of Fearow Dodiro and Swellow, Swellow has the lowest attack.

Dodrios base is 110, Fearows is 90, Swellows is 85....But Swellow is faster than all of them

Swellows base is 125, while Dodrio and fearow are at 100....But I guess when it comes to dishing out hits Attack is the most important. So Dodrio wins...

I'd say Swellow. Cause of it's Endeavor attack. That attack can pack a serious punch and can take out alot of damage.

Tri-Attack sucks compared to Return. So, it has a 20% chance of freezing. Big deal. In the long run, a 102 power attack from Return is better than a 80 power from Tri-Attack.

That may work in-game, but when you're playing against real people, you're not gonna get anywhere using Pidgeot instead of Dodrio or Swellow.

Dodrio can get Endeavor as an Egg Move.

BTW, I remember early on in the GSC days, when Dodrio was claused/banned from tourneys cos they were so feared. I'll give you a moveset and explain why...

    Substitute
    Flail
    Agility
    Quick Attack.

Now, you may be thinking, what's to fear from this? Well, quite a lot. You use Agility to make yourself faster than most anyone, use Substitute to redure your HP down to 1, then use Flail to take out so many things. Quick Attack helps you take on things that were using QA on you, to get some damage in. If you figure in a Baton Passed Swords Dance or two, Dodrio would be even more frightful.

That may work in-game, but when you're playing against real people, you're not gonna get anywhere using Pidgeot instead of Dodrio or Swellow.
Fair enough. After all, I tend to use Fearow in LG and Swellow in Ruby. They're good enough for me.
But then again, what if some does manage to beat another human player with thier fave Pokemon?

swellow is better in my opinion

I think it would be a lot more interesting if people used their favorites when fighting against human oponants.
