After looking at Serebii.net's moveset for the birdy, I got to thinking: Swellows ability is Guts, which ups its Attack when it is afflicated with a Status Condition. So, if I give it Rest and Snore, would that work? My idea is to attack, or maybe Focus Energy (but probably not), second turn to Rest away any damage, then Snore OR have Fascade and Sleep Talk and hope for the best.

I know that Fascade + Guts + STAB is better, but it relies on being Poisoned, Burned or Paralyzed, which either slowly kills it or stops it from attacking.

It probably wont work out, but tell me your thoughts anyway.

I'd go with snore for in-game, flinch is cool, and they won't switch to their normal resist right away =)

rest+sleeptalk with return is good, or facade... which i thikn is better.

    so yeah...

    swellow@leftovers
    - rest
    - sleep talk
    - facade
    - aerial ace

so yeah guts kicks in when you rest which gives you between a 400+ attack, and then facade hits hard with a 157.5 attack power. purty hard hitter :)

and by the way, smogon.com has better strategies :)

    Wish is your friend.

I could see this idea working, if Swellow could take a hit. Imo Ursaring or Machamp would do the job better, with EVs more focused on the defensive stats rather than Spd.
