Taking advantage of the double screen - 3D and 2D graphics

So Dragon Quest XI has been announced for both the PS4 and the 3DS, and the latter version in particular has a really interesting concept shown that's been met with a lot of positive reactions.

The ability to show the game in 3D in one screen, and 2D in the other

And I was wondering, why not have Pokemon adopt this? It's a really neat, fresh and innovative concept for turn based RPGs, and honestly as someone who absolutely despises the graphical leap to 3D that Pokemon took on top of the framerate issues I'd love this. It'd be a godsend.

I know Pokemon likes to use the bottom screen for online functionality and what not, but why not have an option to display whatever the player wants? DQ is giving the player the option to switch between styles for the top and bottom screen, and the option to have battles to be 3D or 2D (even an option to have enemies on screen or have it set on random encounters), so there's really no reason not to have this.

Options are good and this is honestly the kind of no-nonsense stuff that Pokemon SHOULD have.

I'm not too much of a fan of that kind of style, honestly. I think it's a bit too hard to focus on both of the screens at once and I certainly would be looking at the top screen all the time rather than the bottom one. I guess it wouldn't be too bad but...maybe a bit too much to take in at once.
Have the option to turn off whichever screen you don't want, then. That's what DQ is doing.

DQ is actually using the bottom screen for the menu when it's needed which is why they're giving the choice to switch the styles for the screens. Just have the PSS showing when want to turn off a style in the bottom screen. Pokemon already gives you options on what you want to see for the bottom screen, why not a whole different graphical style if you want?

I think that's actually super cool. I think it would've been awesome to see Kalos in both 3D and the 2D style we all know and love. It would have also recreating making maps for different areas a lot easier. However, the 2D view probably limits a lot of what the 3D view could have included in the maps (like changing viewpoints and stuff, which 2D might not be able to do).

That's not an issue really. In the video I linked, when they trigger a cutscene with various different camera view points for the 3D screen, the 2D screen is showing the same cutscene without any change to the camera.

If anything imagine how HELPFUL this would've been for Lumiose and New Mauville. :V

That would've really helped when it came to Lumiose. I'm just worried that making both viewpoints require simpler maps than they would have otherwise been able to have.

I'm a firm believer in "more options are always better"... provided those options don't potentially impact others in an uncontrollable way. This idea in particular... doesn't really do anything for me, but I'd entirely support it existing based on the former rule.

This wouldn't interest me, because I hardly play with the 3D on anyway. It makes the game lag and gives me a headache.

Wow the graphics are good! Come to American console, DQ 11!

Something like that should be in Pokémon and shouldn't be limit to overworld traveling. I don't want to control them simultaneously -- one mode at a time and they should all remain in top screen. While the lower screen for the features like PSS. :)
