Well, I was originally planning on seeing only one Tales release this year, but Namco Bandai decided to give us two.

    Tales of Legendia
    Release Date: February 7th, 2006
    Platform: Playstation 2

Story: "Senel Coolidge, a young man and adept at a special skill known as eres, and his younger sister, Shirley, find themselves adrift in the ocean amidst a cloud of standing fog.

Just as they have run out of food and are at the limits of their strength, an island emerges, approaching them with amazing speed, their small boat caught in powerful waves. When they awake, they find themselves washed ashore.

But the island isn't really an island. It's a giant ship -- a relic of an ancient civilization -- and it's home to some sinister villains, all of them intent on getting their hands on Shirley.

They call her "Merines", a legendary being who can control the ship with only the power of her mind. They pursue her for their own ends.

To save his sister, Senel and his party must uncover the deepest secrets of a legendary ship, and in the process, discover the bonds that bind them all." -ToL Site

    Battle System: X-LiMBS Battle System.

Battle huge monsters with the X-LiMBS (Crossover Linear Motion) battle system that feels like a fighting game. For the first time in the series, players can throw enemies.

    Tales of Phantasia
    Release Date: March 6, 2006
    Platform: Gameboy Advance

Story: "In this classic RPG with a real-time battle system, players take on the role of Cress, a young swordsman who must set out on a fantastic quest when his village is destroyed in mysterious circumstances." - EBgames
Other then the fact that its a remake of an older game, I'm not too sure on the battle system nor a more detailed look into the story.

Well they really are still only giving us one since Nintendo is the one who is finally localizing ToP. :P

As for ToL, I haven't heard many good things about it so I might skip that. There are too many RPGs to get for my PS2 this year so ToL will have to wait. But if they decided to release Tales of the Abyss here I'd be all over that in an instant. :D

    Tales of Legendia

The latest Tales game to hit US shelves since Tales of Symphonia, TOL is shaping up to be another great RPG.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when I heard that the music and artwork were being done by different people this time around, but after seeing the videos and hearing some of the clips I can safely say this is the best looking and sounding game in the series.

Kazuto Nakazawa designed the characters this time around. He designed the animation sequences for Kill Bill, and I can easily say he did an incredible job with the characters this time around.

Go Shiina composed the music, and it doesn't sound at all like previous games in the Tales series. I daresay if you were to just listen to the music without knowing where it was from, you wouldn't even know you were listening to music from a Tales game. But don't take that the wrong way. I can safely say that this is the best soundtrack to ever come out of a Tales game. Almost everything is orchestrated and the whole game has an epic feel due to the music.

Well, I just found out that this game comes out tomorrow (Feb 7). And I don't see a thread for it yet. So, I'll leave this thread open to discussion regarding the new Tales game.

Personally I hated hated hated ToS...however this game looks fantastic...thats why I will have it in my hands along with the art design concept art book that comes with pre-ordering it...Woot...

Aww why did you hate it? I really liked it, although the storyline was pretty generic, and there were only a couple anime scenes!

    *merges the two threads*

My copy of Legendia should be arriving sometime in the next 48 hours, and I can't wait. The battle system is somewhat different from ToS, but I'm still looking forward to it. I've heard the soundtrack as well, and the music is really nice.

Yeah as it turns out, since I live in the middle of the country I can't get my hands on a copy till tommorow. Ohh well.

Tales of Phantasia on GBA = AWSOME!
I have the ROM in Japanese/English translated, so it'll be sweet playing on my GBA, sweeties. X3 I love that game! Now I wish I have a PS2 for Tales of Legendia...

I finally got it...and I have only played about a half hour of it...if even...and from what I have played...it is a great game with a fantastic story...with incredible music...

Maybe I'll get Tales of Phantasia later but I still have to beat Legendia, DQ8, Suikiden Tactics, Grandia 2, Burnout Revenge, GTA: SA, and maybe a couple other games...and I have a job and go to college so I have to slow down on buying games...

Why? Burnout Revenge is a good game =o
I'll be getting my copy of ToL tomorrow. I heard the plot was pretty bland, but the battle system is apparently awesome.

No, "John Denver" borowed my Burnout Revenge and he wants to trade Burnout for my Tales of Legendia...which by the way is awesome...different...but awesome.

Oh wow, you know John Denver in real life? That's so cool...

But if I were to compare Burnout Revenge and ToS, I would definately have to go with ToS XD

Yeah I know John Denver in fact we live a few minutes apart...

I am not far in ToL but what does everyone else think of the battle system? Its kind of like a fighting game style...Another thing, people are saying that the story is only ok, what? The story is awesome amazingly spectacular...I mean a whole country on a ship...man.
