Tangela is not a good election.

His only good stat is defense, and he would not stand a chance against E4.

Try using a Vileplume or Victreebel, or if you have one, a Venusaur.

I always hated Tangela, I think making it a HM slave is a waste. But that's just me...

I just caught it b/c the PC was down on ONE island and I didn't have my HM slave with me. Just wanted to know if it was worth while, but thanks all. :)

Tangela isn't worth even wasting a pokeball. Tangelgrowth is somewhat better, although I never really found it very good in battle. It is a good HM slave.
