How do tauros reproduce when they are a male only species? Then how do they produce eggs like in the games... that would hurt!

Apparently they reproduce with Miltank which are the female equivalent of Tauros.

^Depending on the gender of the young is what you recieve.

Also, they can breed with Ditto... which apparently makes Female Tauros O_o

((sidenote: Don't you think that Ditto should really make a replication of the Pokemon in the day care, i.e. two male Pokemon rather than one male/female and Ditto serving as the other? Even though very inconvinient, it makes good sense, considering it's making a genetic replica and all))

Some Dittos are also known for not being complete copies of what they Transform into.

Such as the inexperienced Dittos transforming into a copy of a Pokémon, except with Ditto eyes/mouth.

We also don't know (and I doubt many of us do want to know) the specifics of Pokémon breeding. All we know is that you leave two that like each other together and an egg appears somewhere nearby!

    (( It's game mechanics, leave it be. >_X ))

Wow, are you serious? I didn't know that. In the 5th generation, I hope a pre-evolution, and a new evolution for Tauros and Miltank.

Yup, Tauros and Miltank both come from Miltank eggs.

The same way Nidoran(M) and Nidoran(F) both come from Nidoran(F) eggs; another instance of this (rarely known?) phenomena. It's been that way since Generation II (which is likely one of the reasons Miltank was introduced, to keep the bull Pokémon as male).

    No, Tauros reproduce through parthenogenesis.
    And protogenesis.

They either get it on with Miltanks or probably use Asexual Reproduction. They may also be Hemaphroditic, but there I'm not sure :\.

Miltank eggs have a 50% chance to be born into a Tauros and a 50% chance to be a Miltank.

    There's also Ditto...
Really? Have you tried it yourself? I haven't, so I wouldn't know for sure, but this is what Bulbapedia says:
    Bulbapedia said:
Note that while Miltank and Tauros are considered to be the female and male of the same species in the canon, for the purposes of breeding they are separate species, meaning there is no way to produce a Tauros from a Miltank egg, or vice versa; a Miltank always hatches from a Miltank egg. This means that despite the fact that Tauros is a gendered Pokémon, the only way to hatch one from an egg is to breed a Tauros with a Ditto.

Really? Have you tried it yourself? I haven't, so I wouldn't know for sure, but this is what Bulbapedia says:

Huh, I was sure Tauros and Miltank were in that list that worked (along with the Nidorans and Volbeat/Illumise).

I guess not, though. Proved me wrong there.

    So, yeah, back to Ditto.

So I guess Ditto is the answer when it comes to Tauros breeding!

I don't get something about this Ditto breeding. Okay well a lot of things bug me, but this one in particular has left me confused.

How did a species of Pokemon evolve to only have offspring with Ditto?

It doesn't make sense to me.
How can a species come to a point where it's existence depends on another creature that is rare and doesn't live in their location?

This especially bugs me with the Hitmon line and Manaphy because they have baby Pokemon.
They have baby Pokemon... Yet they have to rely on Ditto... To produce them...

SERIOUSLY, this makes no sense!!! I can get all female Pokemon since their children will be of their species but the all male spectrum confuses me to no end.

This post is an example of overanalyzing the Pokemon franchise. Its not going to make sense, especially since have more than half of the things we know now didnt even exist in he beginning when it was created.

I thought this thread was about overanalyzing pokemon.

Then that makes it pointless but I guess. If we are talking about this scenario beyond the gaming then the answer lies in Miltank.

I though Celebi appeared out of nowhere and dropped off the Egg? If that's the case, why would it even matter which Pokemon were left in daycare?

    So...

    • In game- Ditto is the answer...
    • Out Game- Miltank is the answer...

[sigh] Ditto is the answer to ever breeding problem. It's like the world depends on Ditto's... unique ability.

Also, this is a Pokémon environment; it's not suppose to make sense. ;)
