TCG Memories

I remember when I first started playing the TCG (and that was when it first came out!). I have many fond memories from back then. Getting the badges, becoming a Gym Leader, and making all sorts of friends. Two of my all time favorite memories are when the place that I played at did a Victory Road type of Tournament and when I got my first holographic card (Base Set Venusaur). I wanted to know what are you guys' fond memories or a favorite time you've had while playing the Pokemon TCG.

My fondest memories tend to be from collecting rather than playing, as that's what I've been doing with the cards the majority of the last 15 years and I didn't really play until within the last 5 years. One of my favorite memories was buying a second pack of EX: Ruby & Sapphire a whole year after buying my first booster from that set, and pulling the exact same rare from that second booster (Mewtwo ex was what I had pulled). It was pretty crazy, since that was a period where I hadn't collected a whole lot of the cards since I was old enough that my parents made me buy them on my own.
