Ok.. so i am currently trying to make a team i can use online that is nice and balanced and all that happy stuff... but i don't really get what that means... i can understand how to make like Sweepers and Hunters and all that... but how do you put together a functioning team?

Well heres what I do and the 1) and all the other numbers with ) behind them must be in order in your party lke 1)=The first slot in party kk got that then here we go.

1)The Decoy:The decoy Pokemon is used for letting your opponent test out there moves Id suggest you amike the decoys level high online because sometimes people will beat uyp your decoy also it can be used for sending out whiole healing your Pokemon.I would suggest using one of eevee's evo's untill you acn find a good decoy.

2)Warrior 1:Warrior one is just a basic Pokemon taht lowers the opponent's health if online I'd suggest using a Starvia, aiming this to level 75 and above.

3)Warrior 2:Warrior two is the same as warrior one only aim this level to level 76 to the above. Id suggest you use any Pokemon for this one because it dosen't matter about your second Pokemon only I'd suggest Lucario.

4)EV Pokenmon:Id suggest just getting any pokemon and raising all there ev's to a certain limit It dosen't matter how you do this Pokemon seeing its only for EV's aim this to about level 70.

5)High Resictence:This is just a good Pokemon to use that has a certain recistence like Empoilon anim this level to 68 or above recommended is 74.

6)The Tanker:My favourite part the tanker! The tanker is the main big gun in the whole thing He/She or It(Reffering to Pokemon like Ditto and Legendaries and Pokemon taht don't look like pokemon) is the main pokemon In this before you level up other piokemon level up your suitable tanker I'd suggest it is a legendarie or Torterra well I don't know what you want this to be but it must be good I'd refer you level up your tanker to 100 (For really expeirianced tariners) at the least 80.

Well I hope this works for you if this isn't the guide that is suitable I will delet this post if you don't want to follow this it is up to you this is for beginners and the suitable way of getting too this have fun in team makiuing!

Ok, this is just my suggestion. Mind you, I enjoy using an All Eevolution team on-line.

    1. Decoy - Required to have a High Def, as well as healing-type moves, and possibly attacks that cause status changes to opponent

    Leafeon level 70-100
    Grass Whistle
    Sunny Day
    Synthesis
    Giga Drain

    2. Warrior - High Attacker, nothing more. Do damage as fast as possible.

    Flareon level 74-100
    Fire Fang
    Bite
    Fire Blast
    Iron Tail/Sunny Day

    3. Warrior - Same as stated above. But this time, it will be Special damage.

    Glaceon level 74-100
    Blizzard
    Mirror Coat
    Hail
    Hidden Power/ Ice Beam

    4. EV Trained - You want someone who has naturally high stats, like high HP or S.ATK. That way, you get more from EV training. At least, that's my take.

Espeon level 74-100( EV traing for S.ATK and Speed)
    Future Sight
    Psychic
    Sunny Day
    Morning Sun

    5. Resistance - This is where the Eevolutions have a slight problem. They each have their own weaknesses, and only one has the most Resistance, but s/he is already in use, Flareon.

    Vaporeon level 75-100
    Aqua Ring
    Brine/Haze/Acid Armor
    Rain Dance
    Hydro Pump

    6. Tanker - The big guy. The head Honcho. The one no one messes with. The one who will beat you with a lead pipe and tell you to like it.

Jolteon level 80-100(Head Honcho must be highest)
    Hidden Power
    Rain Dance
    Protect
    Thunder

Now, let me explain Jolteon's odd move list. Rain Dance lets Thunder always hit. Protect can help save your hide quite a bit, but you shouldn't need to use it unless you fight someone faster. Hidden Power should be something decent, like Ice or Ghost.

Sorry if this is not what was asked. I couldn't quite understand what was asked.

    Leafeon level 70-100
    Grass Whistle
    Sunny Day
    Synthesis
    Giga Drain

FYI... on the decoy, I like using the move PROTECT to see what hard hitting moves they have, and the stall never hurts... its just a matter of discussing whether or not you like using Protect

    2. Warrior - High Attacker, nothing more. Do damage as fast as possible.

    Flareon level 74-100
    Fire Fang
    Bite
    Fire Blast
    Iron Tail/Sunny Day

(physical sweepers, you need sweepers as it is. At least Fire can take down some pretty serious tanks such as Forretress and Skarmory)

    3. Warrior - Same as stated above. But this time, it will be Special damage.

    Glaceon level 74-100
    Blizzard
    Mirror Coat
    Hail
    Hidden Power/ Ice Beam

(if you were to do all physical sweepers, remember that a physical wall will ruin that concept... and it's always nice to have a backup plan... I'm not too partial to Glaceon.. but a stabbed IceBeam is a serious force)

    4. EV Trained - You want someone who has naturally high stats, like high HP or S.ATK. That way, you get more from EV training. At least, that's my take.

Espeon level 74-100( EV traing for S.ATK and Speed)
    Future Sight
    Psychic
    Sunny Day
    Morning Sun

(enjoy the EV training, it pays back 10fold over time)

    5. Resistance - This is where the Eevolutions have a slight problem. They each have their own weaknesses, and only one has the most Resistance, but s/he is already in use, Flareon.

    Vaporeon level 75-100
    Aqua Ring
    Brine/Haze/Acid Armor
    Rain Dance
    Hydro Pump

(Vaporeon is only weak against grass and electric... another good Tank is umbreon... because of his immunity to psychic and overall great defenses)

    6. Tanker - The big guy. The head Honcho. The one no one messes with. The one who will beat you with a lead pipe and tell you to like it.

Jolteon level 80-100(Head Honcho must be highest)
    Hidden Power
    Rain Dance
    Protect
    Thunder

(you can always use Baton Pass on a Jolteon... if you learn to switch in on an electric attack aimed at Vaporeon.. BAM.... and you can always bass on agillity)

I love Eevee teams... they are quite versatile, to be honest with you.. and the theme is mad cool.

whoa. i never thought of using an all-eevee team. that is a great idea!

    Let me start.

    1) LEVELS DO NOT MATTER. Wi-Fi sets every level to 100, so it's completely irrelevent.
    2) Why are people suggesting such horrible Pokemon? Seriously, Staravia? No. And Beloved, that is an absolutely terrible team. I'm not kidding.
    3) Gotron, what do you mean by 'EV Pokemon'? ALL of your Pokemon should be EV trained.

Now, what you need to make a balanced team is, simply put, balance. You need physical and special sweepers or tanks, a wall or two, and you need to cover up as many weaknesses as possible (to either specific types like Electric, or specific Pokemon such as Electivire). Later posters will probably elaborate on this, I just felt the need to speak out against that Eevee team.

What the HELL is this? As airconditioner said, Wifi sets everyone to level 100. The max is 100, so saying "Get this to lvl 76, this to lvl 80" makes no sense.

Those are not good terms. Warrior? Warrior 2? What is this?!

Thread maker (& guy I quoted) go on gamespot.com, type in Pokemon Diamond, and go on hints cheats. There is a GREAT compettitive battling guide out there made by "The Parat Lover", complete with terms, and the basics for team building.

He said it perfectly. I'm gonna find the link.

There are MANY MANY more usable Pokemon, I just took some random examples of good ones. There are many more to choose from

ok thanks ^^ i wasn't really sure since i have only been working on the tower people and the tower quality thing.. i kind'a forgot how to make a normal not so cheating team ^^
    thank you very much ^^

    thank you very much ^^

You might be refering to me. I didn't say cheat, but all game faqs, walkthroughs, & guides are located on Hints/Cheats section.

Midnight Wing mentioned the terms, but I wish he explained it in better detail...(hint-hint, Midnight...)

    LOL
no i wasn't refering to anyone lol, i was talking about tower quality.....
sorry if it came across like that >< i guess i can't explain very well....

No prob. I thought you might, but not in a malicious way. I read my post, it had hints/cheats, so I didn't want you confused.

    yes thank you ^^
i well have to see it.. and yea.. i kind'a do get confused rather easily...

ok so i want to make sure i have this thing right.... so this is what i am thinking of for a team...
so like Pryogon Z, Weavile, Steelix, Blissy, Starmie, and Umbreon. Is this kind'a the right idea or did i totally miss it?

2 special sweepers, but Starmie functions as a rapid spinner so okies, Weavile, just plain awesome, Steelix, just plain awesome, Umbreon, thats two special walls, go for either that or blissey. That is the sort of idea, and sorry if I wasn;t very clear, Sweeper deal out damage, they;re the big guns, the outfront attackers, in physical and special, whihc you need both of for a team. Walls are the damage receivers, they take hits and defend your team, crucial to any play. A lot of newbs only have sweepers and no walls. Tanks are damage dealers and receivers, they are well, like tanks, most helpfull indeed. And Rapid Spinners and Stealth Rockers are well, Rapid SIn and Stelath rock carrying Pokemon, a rapid spinner is a extremely important part of any team.

For your team, You have Steelix, physical wall, Weavile, Physical Sweeper, Blissey/Umbreon Special Wall, Starmie, Rapid Spinner/Special Sweeper, Porygon-Z, special sweeper. You should get rid of one special wall for a stealth rocker, like change Umbreon in for like Rhyperior or something.

Ah, that's a fairly balanced team. As Midnight said, take out either Blissey or Umbreon, as they both serve the same purpose (Special Walling). On the note about Stealth Rock, the standard Steelix has Stealth Rock, so you may want to stick in a sweeper or tank for the empty spot. A physical one would work best. Perhaps Gallade or Medicham?

Gallade kicks Medichams funky hip-butt. And duh im stoopid, knew that. Im not sure abotu another sweeper, that would make 4, little bit to many, tank would fit nicely, or like a subseeder.

Donphan is the king of tanks!!!! this is what I use

    Donphan@Lefties
    Impish
    Ev's: 252HP, 128at, 130def
EQ (duh STAB gives it 150 base power)
Knock-off (pure evil to bliss :p)
    Ice-shard (severly dents most dragons)
    Rapid-Spin (by bye spikes/SR)

I dont think he needs TWO rapid-spinners. And Rhyperior is the king of tanks, BTW. Tangrowth makes a great Pokemo for filling a sopt, he drainsd HP and refules himself while pounding in opponents faces.

    Basic Team Format:

    Physical Sweeper x 1-2
These are the guys that are fast and can attack Physically.

    I use Salamence:
    Dragon Claw
    Earthquake
    Stone Edge
Uhh......I'll get back to you on the fourth move.

Special Sweeper (1 if you have 2 Physical Sweepers and 2 if you have 1)
These are the same as above, only they use Special Attacks instead of Physical ones.

    I use two. One is:

    Azelf
    Nasty Plot
    Energy Ball
    Flamethrower
    Extrasensory

    Physical Wall x 1
A Physical Wall has good Defense, period.

    I use:

    Torkoal
    Gyro Ball
    Curse
    Stealth Rock
    Rapid Spin

    Special Wall
Same as above, but with good Special Defense instead.

    I use:

    Blissey
    Ice Beam
    Calm Mind
    Thunder Wave
    Softboiled

    Tank x 1
This is the guy that has good HP, Attack, and Defense. Some Sp. Defense may be helpful as well, but it usually isn't used. Tanks are mainly used for Attacking, although they are usually slow.

    I use:

    Tyranitar
    Crunch
    Dragon Dance
    Stone Edge
    Earthquake

Finally, a last bit of advice: Every team should have a Rapid Spinner, Stealth Rock/Spike-er, and, preferably, an Aromatherapist or Heal Beller. Also, every Pokemon should have at least one direct Attacking move. Hope this helped.

I dont think he needs TWO rapid-spinners. And Rhyperior is the king of tanks, BTW. Tangrowth makes a great Pokemo for filling a sopt, he drainsd HP and refules himself while pounding in opponents faces.

:O you killed the Rainbow Snorlax! And yes, Rhyperior is th ideal tank, but I use Tyranitar for its Special Defense and ability to Dragon Dance.
