About Me

Some background History of Me and My game modding/hacking experience.

Hello there! My name is Chris and I am getting into ROM Hacking. I have been working with game modification for about 6 years, I have worked with a few games such as, The Eldercrolls III and IV, Heroes V, Age of Empires Series, Diablo II and its respectful Expansion, World of Warcraft, The Jedi Knights Series, and now I am working with Pokemon ROM's. I like to brew up ideas and plots and love world building so I am very excited to start mapping, I have played around a bit and am thouroughly enjoying it. I am also a photoshopper, and a Market manager. So without further adou here is my idea for a ROM hack.

Team Dissension Intro

Team Dissension is a Team that will be working on multiple hacks to help our fellow team members. The idea of a hacking team stems from the subtle fact, that hacks can be large, time consuming, and generally use more than just a few aspects of hacking. This is why Team Dissension is here to function as a Team, so we can see more hacks reach the point of release!

Plot Outline
Team Dusk and Team Dawn are in a Race to control the Region.

Team Dusk has developed a way to create heartless Pokemon which are stronger than normal Pokemon and have no emotions. Team Dawn has been fighting to erase Shadow Pokemon from the Realm even if it means disrupting the way of life for the Region.

Team Dawn has developed a beacon machine to attract Rare Pokemon to the Region in an attempt to gain the upper hand, which has in turn brought strange phenomenon to the Region such as weather changes, rare and unknown Poke'mon sightings, and even time lapses.

A rising Pokemon trainer has been tasked by the professor to help find the source of the phenomenon, and help identify these unknown Poke'mon by filling the Poke'dex. Paths will collide, battles will wage, and order will be challenged.

Are you ready?

Choose between being a Pokemon Trainer, or a Shadow Trainer, and restore balance to the land and help solve the
mystery surrounding the Shadow Poke'mon and the unknown Poke'mon.

I have a YouTube channel, but it only displays a video of one Sprite. I can scratch, I might not be the best but I can. I will also try and get an Advanced Map tutorial/video up on there ASAP. As for Overworld... I barely use it, but I can function it properly.

Well as far as sprites go OW's will need to be created for the hero as well as a in battle sprite, and those are pretty important at this point. Are you good at inserting sprites as well?

I have some experience at Unlz.gba. I would happily make the OW and Hero character, but somebody could probably do better than me on OW.

Ok, well do you think if I gave you a picture of what the hero would kind of look like, you would be able to sprite them into the in battle sprite for the Rivals? I suppose I could make an OW of the sprite.

Yes, I would be able to Sprite it. Just give me the size requirements and the image over Email etc. and I will be done by tonight or tomorrow afternoon (I'm in the UK here, and tomorrow afternoon due to homework and school).

Poke'mon Dissension has been moved. It is now located in the Progressing hacks, so look for it there instead of the scrapbox :)

Mew-Mewwer, look at some natrual mapping tuts and show me what you can come up with. Looking for mappers who's work is less static, if you know what I mean.

are you interested in being a perminent member or just helping with those interior tiles? I was thinking if it was just the interior tiles I would add you to the credits, but it is upto you i guess.

The plot is fully updated, as is the threads main post :). It looks a lot cleaner now so check it out!

Also, I was thinking that Dissension should be a hack of Fire Red & Ruby, since trading from FR to Ruby will activate the National Dex for Ruby. The storyline will be the same though. Each version will have different Pokémon available so you will have to trade back and forth from each version to get all the pokémon.

Shiny pokemon will be replaced with shadow pokemon, and there will be 25 gen 4 pokemon.

playing as a shadow trainer will also change the dialogue throughout the game, so if you play as a normal trainer, you will play through a slightly different storyline than a shadow trainer.

Also, trading a pokémon from FR to ruby and vice versa will trigger new events to provide more adventures :) but the events can ONLY be triggered by a FR to Ruby trade and vice versa.

Hello, my name is Chesu, and I'm an amateur spriter. Though I've been spriting for eight years, it's only a hobby, and I'm not great at it. Out of all of the projects seeking help on this board, this is the only one that seems... well.. worth working on.

-Work History-

I've worked as a spriter on various games over the past six years, only a few of which have been completed. It seems that more and more kids have started working on independent games/rom hacks lately, which unfortunately means that more projects are abandoned out of boredom... or lack of instant gratification.
-Proof of Work-

Since I'm new here, I'm unable to display images from external sources... so I've included them as an attachment. I'll be referring to the attached images in parenthesis.
My favorite type of spriting is sprite editing, modifying pre-existing sprites into something different (zoras)... you may think that the Pokemon sprites I make like this (amalgamon) are ugly, but that's entirely on purpose; I like using the "scary, low quality" style to alienate people. See my "It's Malo Time!!" and "The Wrongest Love Story" YouTube videos for further mind destruction.

I also draw sprites freehand based on images (4gensprites) and, far more accurately, do trace-overs of images (hitmonlee, bayleef). I can both freehand and edit sprites (without them being hideous!) based on a description, but I don't have any examples of that, and it's been a few years since I've done it, so I'm probably a bit rusty.
