Team Rocket Role

For those who have been watching Best Wishes you see at the beginning Team Rocket role as that of secret agents that interact with other TR agents within the Unova region. Then that all changes after TR vs. TP episode. Now they are back trying to capture Pikachu and other pokes like they did previously.

And in BW044 they had a small cameo role like they did during the first episodes where they are plotting something in there black trench coats. Then come BW045 Meowth "supposedly" quits and or is fired from TR, so that changes the dynamics of Team Rocket very much so if Meowth legitimately went off with Ash & co.

Ever since the Unova Saga began Team Rocket role has seemed not so vastly diminished but definitely no where near to the extent they used to appear. So I am wondering is there a possibility of Team Rocket not being apart of the show come next region? One reason they seem to be around is for comic relief and I think the writers can come of with alternatives too their comedy they provided. Or will they just show up ever now in then but not all the time like they used to? Personally I think the whole act of trying to catch Pikachu has grown quite stale by now, so unless they can break from that I really don't care to see them again.

Yeah Rocketing off is more in line with there Team name but it is essentially the same thing as blasting off. They just want to slightly mix it up like how they change their motto every so often.

I haven't got a clue to be honest. They don't really ever do anything remotely to promote the games or anything, so I've always wondered why they've stayed in the series for so long, some say it's for comedy. Although this series we know nothing about Giovanni's plans.

I could see the Meowth storyline have something to do with a break up and leave from the main series. But a lot of people just think he'll go back to TR eventually. Although you made a good point in the BW45 thread about what seems like TR making plans in BW44, maybe to stab Ash in the back or whatever. I'm still confused on the whole Iris capture thing.

I honestly think we're going to see more TR vs TP before the end of Best Wishes first. But yeah, if they were to return I don't think they would keep up their serious faces, they'd so back to catching Pikachu (not like they are now exactly though, they've been told to do whatever they want for now) but then that would be pointless really then wouldn't it.

Unless they remade Yellow(which who knows if that will ever happen) then I don't see the promotional value in them either.

Yeah the preview left us up in the air. I think if she did actually capture him I would be less inclined to say he would stab them in the back. And if he did that would catch them off guard for sure. They would be caught off either way if that scenario does play out because he is with them at least from BW045 - BW048 which is a long stay away from TR.

Even if we did see the first TR vs. TP I think we would still be left for wanting more. I think they will have conflicts amongst each other in the future for sure. I am sure they will go back to the same old thing trying to capture Pikachu which after 5 Generation has gotten stale.

Another theory I'd like to toss out, if I may: Every series features Ash with a male and female companion. Maybe this is just the beginning to an eventual turn of Jesse and James to good. Maybe it begins as a setup to steal pikachu at first, but Meowth learns to like the twerps. He might be faced with a real opportunity to steal pikachu, but he has a change of heart and remains with them permanently. Along the way he might convince his friends that the whole time they were trying to steal pikachu they could have befriended him instead and achieved the same results. It'd be a good moral for the story for the kiddies and it'd throw a curveball out next season.

I'd like to think this would be somewhat of the case for them. Jessie and James see the errors of their ways and travel with Ash and Co. through the duration of their travels in Unova. Then go on their own ways Gen VI, so we don't have to see them again. I just don't see them as the male and female companions due to marketing as well. The want to get a least one new member so they can market that Saga.

Didn't one of the Johto episodes imply that Meowth had his own pokeball or something? Him being captured by Iris seems odd.

If it were to happen, though, unless he ends up being released via blue laser (not at the end of the episode, since there wouldn't have been a point to it when they could have just had him interact for negotiations without being caught in Iris's pokeball), I see absolutely no way he's gonna end up released, certainly not for the remainder of the series. Something tells me this might be setting up for Team Rocket's departure. Assuming this is correct, it might also be nearing the end of not only BW, but possibly the anime in general. Then again, they might create expies of the characters for the new regional villain in Gen VI if they so plan to do so, but then again AG and DP's ratings weren't doing so well in the past, so I'd probably won't be surprised if they kicked the bucket now. Let's just wait and see.

Assuming this is indeed correct and it's a hint to the potential future of the show, then me and my group have got to act fast to get the Writers to bring her back (keeping it vague).
