Wow, I haven't posted here in awhile. So, for that 1 person who's actually reading this, and just for the sake of posting it, here's the next chapter (which is incredibly long. I need to work on that).
Chapter 13
Angel awoke and realized there was something in her right hand, so she squeezed it. She looked over and noticed it was Beast Boy?s hand. She blushed.
Beast Boy smiled. ?Dude! You?re awake! Finally, you?ve been asleep for, like, 3 days.?
Angel sat straight up. ?3 days?!?
From behind Beast Boy, Raven nodded. ?Since you got such a high dose of venom it affected you the worst.?
Beast Boy looked down, and his ears sagged. ?I almost thought you would never wake up.?
Angel was touched that he felt so strongly for her. Then she realized she?d probably feel the same for him, and she had when the spider bit him. She squeezed his hand again. ?Well, I?m glad you guys are okay.?
Just then an old man with dark skin and a wooden walking stick shuffled into the room. He mumbled something in a different language and held out a clay bowl with green mush in it. He mumbled something again.
Angel cocked her head. ?Sorry, I don?t understand.?
?He wants you to eat it,? said a voice from behind the old man. Another dark skinned man stepped to the side so he could be seen. But there were a few odd features about him. Like Angel he had wings, a tail and horns, but his were all a dark green.
Angel sat up even straighter in her bed. ?A dragoid?? she gasped.
The man winked one of his dark brown eyes. ?That I be. And might I say it?s wonderful to know I?m not the only one left.?
Angel nodded slowly. ?Yeah... same here.? She glanced around at the others. They had already met him. But for some reason they could never understand a word he said. Angel seemed to though.
The man bowed. ?Forgive, my name?s Emrys, of the Green Country people. For precisely, the Tree Town people. ?
Angel bowed her head. ?I?m Angel, of the Red Country people, or the Great Town people.? She gulped remembering their recent visit.
The old man mumbled again. Emrys nodded to him. ?He says you must eat the Healing Potion now, or you will never get better.? He took the bowl from the old man and handed it to Angel, along with a wooden spoon.
?Thanks,? she said, spooning out some of the green stuff.
Beast Boy nudged Angel in the ribs. ?Dude,? he whispered. ?Do you know what he?s saying??
Angel stopped eating. ?Don?t you??
Beast Boy shook his head.
Emrys gave them questioning looks. ?What is your green friend saying??
?He says he doesn?t understand you. And I guess you don?t understand him.? Angel thought for a second. ?How come I can understand you but they can?t? You?re speaking English.?
?No he?s not,? Beast Boy said.
?No I?m not,? Emrys said. ?I?m speaking the Ancient Language. The reason you know what I?m saying is because of the dragoid universal language, which means all dragoids can understand each other. It?s a special magic passed down from the Great Dragons themselves.?
Angel nodded. ?Well, now it all makes sense.?
?What does?? Robin asked.
?I?ll tell you later.?
Emrys scanned Angel over. ?Do you have the Red Fire Orb??
Angel reached her hand into her pocket, but felt nothing. ?Beast Boy,? she hissed in his ear. ?Where?s the Orb??
Beast Boy reached into his own pocket and pulled out the shining Orb.
Angel smiled gratefully and held it up for Emrys to see. ?Right here.?
Emrys took the Orb in his hand, and squeezed it. He stared at it for a second and frowned. ?This is not the Red Fire Orb of Power,? he concluded.
Angel?s eyes grew wide. ?Wh-what do you mean? Of course it is!?
Emrys shook his head, and told the old man beside him to bring him his staff.
The old man nodded and walked out of the room. A moment later he returned with a wooden walking stick, but there was something in the top. Something round and green.
?The Green Fire Orb!? Angel exclaimed.
Emrys nodded and took the staff. ?This is what a real Orb looks like.?
Angel cocked her head. ?But... it looks just like the Red Orb, except the fact that it?s green.?
Emrys shook his head. ?No no, take a closer look.? He held the Green Orb in front of Angel?s nose.
Angel squinted her eyes. There seemed to be some sort of light inside the Orb, like something burning. In a rush Angel understood.
?Oh, I see. The Green Fire is burning inside of it.? She looked warily at the Red Fire Orb. ?But there isn?t a thing burning inside the Red Fire Orb.? She shook her head. ?I can?t believe it! All this time I thought we really had it!?
Beast Boy frowned. ?Wait, are you saying that?s not really the Red Fire Orb??
Angel nodded sadly.
Robin punched a fist into the wall. ?No way! How could this happen??
Raven looked off into space. ?This means that Slade thought it was really the right Orb too.?
Emrys sensed she had said something of importance, although he couldn?t understand her language. ?What did she say??
?There was a man who tried to steal the Orb,? Angel explained. ?He must have thought it was real too.?
Emrys shook his head. ?No, I believe you really had it at one time.?
The words gave Angel a bit of hope. Beast Boy nudged her side. ?He thinks we had it once,? she whispered.
Beast Boy brightened. ?Great!? Then his face grew clouded. ?But I wonder where we lost it.?
Angel thought back. She remembered when Jinx had first stolen it, then their fight at Slade?s lair, then those death lizards at the underground town.
Angel started so quickly she nearly knocked Beast Boy over. ?The death lizards!? she said.
Robin jumped up. ?Of course!?
Emrys cocked his head. ?What are these ?death lizards? you speak of??
Angel leaned back. ?They?re these big reptiles that tried to kill us, and tried to steal the Orb. We fought them for it, but they must have exchanged it with a fake Orb.?
Cyborg raised his eye brows. ?Man, those lizards are some smart ****.?
Angel looked up. ?This means we have to find them and get it back!? She stood up, but Emrys grabbed her shoulder and she stopped.
?No way Angel,? he said. ?I believe whoever has them now is not going to be easy to find. And even harder will be getting your Red Fire orb back.?
* * *
It was decided that Emrys guide the Titans to the Dark Waters, a lake in the middle of all 4 countries. Angel argued that he should just take them to the pass that led to Black Country, but he told her that there was no way you could get to Black Country that way. They?d have to travel to Blue Country and go from there. Apparently there was a wall so large it would take many lifetimes even for one of the Dragon?s to get to the top and go over. The Titans were dismayed to hear their trip to Green Country was in vain, but they were glad to have met Emrys, and also glad that there was a shortcut to Blue Country.
When Emrys led the Titans out of the house they had been staying in, Angel discovered for the first time that they had been living in trees. The house was a tree house, made of bamboo-like material.
Angel stood on the balcony of the house beside Emrys. ?So, why do you live in a tree??
?Everyone around here does.? He looked down at the green grass on the ground. ?It?s because of the spiders. We don?t like them, they prey on our people.? He looked at Angel. ?And others as well.?
Angel nodded. ?They?re foul little beasts.?
Emrys raised his staff. ?We had better get going.? The Green Fire inside the Orb began to glow brightly.
Angel cocked her head. ?What?re you doing??
Suddenly everyone heard a rumbling noise as a large green figure came flying towards them. Emrys? tail twitched impatiently. ?Here he comes.?
Angel?s eyes widened. The green form was starting to take shape. It has two large wings, four powerful legs, a long neck, and an even longer tail. She gasped. ?The Dragon of Green Fire? Why is he coming??
Emrys smiled. ?He?s taking us to the Dark Water.?
Soon the Green Dragon was just below them. The Titans were amazed. He was the size of a whole school bus, maybe even bigger.
Emrys hopped on top of the large Dragon. ?Come on everyone,? he said, waving his hand at them.
Angel jumped off the balcony. She sat down behind Emrys. The Dragon has large spikes on his back, enough so that all the Titans could sit directly between two of them. Angel grabbed the spike in front of her and beckoned the others.
Robin got on behind her, and after him was Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg, who got the rear.
Cyborg looked behind him and saw the Dragon?s large tail swinging back and forth.
Beast Boy squirmed in his seat. ?Dude, why doesn?t this thing have cushions or something??
The Dragon gave a mighty roar and lifted into the air, its wings flapping heavily, picking up air currents to help it fly.
Starfire looked around, the wings were directly at each of her sides. ?I have never seen such an amazing creature.?
Robin nodded in agreement. ?Does it have a name?? he asked Angel.
?Yeah, it?s Gaidraga.?
Gaidraga flexed its massive claws and roared again, having heard his name.
Beast Boy leaned to the side so Angel could hear him. ?Hey, what?s the difference between the Green Fire and the Red Fire??
Angel thought for a second. ?It?s hard to explain. Each Fire has a different property. The Red Fire is only fire, nothing more. The Green Fire is a fire connected to nature, like the ground and the trees and plants.?
Emrys looked back. ?Perhaps you should also tell them about the other fires.?
Angel nodded and looked back at everyone. ?You know how there are also the Blue Fire, Yellow Fire, White Fire, Purple Fire, Black Fire and Golden Fire, right??
They all nodded, so Angel continued. ?Well, Blue fire is connected to water, Yellow to electricity, White to ice, and Purple to mental energy.?
Robin raised his eyebrows. ?What about the Black Fire and Golden Fire??
Angel looked around. ?Uh, well, I?m not really sure. The Golden Fire I think has something to do with Life, and Black Fire with Death.?
Suddenly everyone felt Gaidraga tipping underneath them so that they had to stop talking and use all their energy to hang on. Gaidraga was banking down to a patch of white sand on the ground.
Dust swirled around the great Dragon?s legs as they hit the ground. Emrys jumped off and everyone else followed suit.
Angel folded her arms. ?Hey, why don?t you take us across the Dark Waters??
Emrys petted Gaidraga?s neck. ?Well, Gaidraga?s a bit afraid, and so am I.?
Angel straightened. ?Well, I?m not. But how are we gonna get across??
Emrys pointed to a small row boat. ?You can travel on that. I?m sure you?ll be fine.?
Angel nodded. ?If you say so.?
A bit later the Titans had the boat dragged over to the edge of the lake. Angel was off a ways saying good-bye to Emrys.
?Thanks for your help,? she said, blushing a little. ?It was nice of you to go out of your way like that.?
Emrys smiled, blushing a bit too. ?Don?t worry, it was nothing.?
Beast Boy couldn?t understand what they were saying, but he didn?t really like the way they were looking at each other. Cyborg noticed his expression.
?Uh-oh,? he said. ?Looks like someone?s jealous.? He poked Beast Boy in the side.
Beast Boy was taken aback. ?Dude, I am SO not jealous.? Cyborg gave him a look. ?Well, maybe just a little.?
Angel walked over to Gaidraga and gave him a kiss on his snout. His scales underneath his eyes turned a darker green. ?And thank you too,? Angel said. Gaidraga lifted his head and roared proudly.
Emrys climbed on top of Gaidraga, and waved to Angel as they lifted into the air.
Angel waved back until they were out of sight.
