I like Tentacruel more myself.
It just has that "I will punch you in the mouth if you make another calamari joke" look, while Octillery looks kinda dopey.

It learns a signature move, named Octazooka.
And yeah, like GavZ said, Tentacool appears everywhere in the ocean which can be very annoying.

In battle, Tentacruel owns. Faster speed and higher attack. Plus it's Poison-type gives it an edge over Grass-types. Although it'll have the disadvantage of being beaten easily by Psychic and Ground types.
