Today one of my competitive battling buddies (IRL) told me he bought an Action Replay and my first reaction was cussing him out in the name of all legitimacy.

I must've used 600 different ways to insult him for filling his Boxes with level 100 shiny Legendaries and the like. (i.e. "I guess you just haven't the skill to get them yourself" or the classic "You have no soul")

But his justification was this: "The way I see it, you're paying some money for a little bit extra boost in your game. It's no less work than soft resetting until you get the same results."

    Discuss.

Action replays cheapen the game and make it unfun in my opinion. I can't stand them to be honest. It's not the same as soft resetting, soft resetting takes effort and time and it actually means something when you get those uber rare shinies. If I know someone is using and AR or a gameshark I straight out refuse to battle or trade with them.

AR really take the fun out of the games. I can say that coz I have used them literally hundreds of times. (I've never battled wifi though! XD)
But if one can't get something(in game), its not wrong to use AR if you don't use that hacked pokemon or item at wifi battles/trades and intend to use it only ingame.

AR is a horrible invention. It has ruined GTS for eternity, and PBR Wi-Fi to a lesser extent.
I can't stand people who say something among these lines: "I got this lv. 100 shiny Arceus from the GTS. I didn't hack it, so it's okay."
And one last thing: "Legit hacks". It basically means making pokemon in minutes that normally would take days or weeks. Arrgh.

I understand the fact that it has ruined GTS and stuff, but it can't be said as a horrible invention! And if you're sayin that, then its your opinion. o3o

AR is not such a bad thing for people like me. People like us can't attend any 'international' events just to get a 'glimpse' of Arceus(or something along its lines). Its not our fault if there aren't any events near us or we don't have a DS. AR comes to save the day then. I agree that its really stupid to use hacked pokemon or items at the competitive scene, but its not bad if you use it to get something that you normally can't get and use it only for your satisfaction(in game). :\

How's paying a couple of bucks to get boxes full of shines equal to 8192 soft refreshes just for one.

ARs are even less widespread around the world than events. And if you can buy an AR, why not a DS, sure it costs a bit more, but the DS will give you a lot more than four (not including Gen IV, obviously) event Pokemon.

ARs cause more damage than they benefit and they break Nintendo's EULA.

Heck, I should have clarified that I play on an emulator! XD
ARs are really nice to use on emulators coz we don't have anything to lose. :P

    Bolded for truth.

In my eyes, my AR-corrupted buddy has lost all credibility as a battler. Before, he did have legit pokemon and was a pretty good strategist/battler, but now I won't be able to tell if he just hacked to get a level 63 Modest Magnezone with perfect Special stats.

If there's a god/flying spaghetti monster, I hope it corrupts his save file.

I lost my best poke to a hack on the GTS. I HOPE THAT ALL HACKERS GET A BAD, VERY UNCOMFORTABLE RASH!
