Riley stood still and took a deep breath, the sunshine was overpowering, and it was making Riley squint to see anything at all. There wasn't much to see in this remote little village. There was only a Pokecenter, a Poke mart, a large laboratory and of course loads of sand. Few trees surrounded the area, but the one's that did all contain Starly and Staravia. Riley looked up at the majestic birds that were flying around. Unexpectedly Riley pulled out Chimchar's Pokeball and threw it into the air. Out popped his little chimp pokemon.

"Okay Chimchar, this is Riolu," said Riley as he showed Chimchar his jackal like Pokemon. "Now you two are my Pokemon and I need you to work as a team and help me collect all eight of the Sinnoh league badges." Riley pulled his Town Map out of his bag and carefully examined it. "Okay guys, the first gym is in Oreburgh City; but it seems we need to Jubilife City to get there. So out next stop is Jubilife City," exclaimed Riley, as he jumped up and punched his fist in the air.

"Ri ri olu."

"Chim char." His two Pokemon called out as if to agree with Riley. Chimchar looked down, Chimchar had always been a lonely Pokemon and now someone was trying to get into his heart; he wasn't too sure what to do.

Riolu noticed Chimchar's sadness and slowly moved over towards his new Pokepal. Riolu slowly reached out and put his arm around Chimchar's shoulder. Chimchar pulled away and started to walk off; Riolu paid no attention to going after him and just stood there watching him walk away.

Riley, who had been watching Chimchar and Riolu's get to, pulled out Chimchar's Pokeball and returned the young chimp; he obviously wasn't quite settled yet. Riley held out Chimchar's Pokeball in the palm of his hand, just slowly examining the Pokeball. Then suddenly a Starly swooped down and grabbed the Pokeball with its talons.

For a few seconds Riley stood still in shock, moments later he kicked into action. He picked out Riolu, placed him on his shoulder and ran after the Starly.

"Riolu use Quick Attack!" Yelled Riley; Riolu jumped off of Riley's shoulder and leapt towards the Starly. Riolu smashed into the Starly, this resulted in leaving both Pokemon in a heap on the floor; the Pokeball had slipped out of Starly's talons and it rolled towards Riley's feet.

Riley slowly bent down and picked up Chimchar's Pokeball, he gave it a quick rub for luck then placed it in his pocket. He then looked up and saw that the two Pokemon had separated from each other. It was now time to battle.

"Okay Riolu; use Force Palm let's go!" A small yellow bulge appeared on Riolu's palm he then attempted to thrust it to the face of the Starly. Before Riolu could attack Starly flew up into the air, just above Riolu.

" Star star ly," squawked the Starly who then swooped down and pecked Riolu on his head.

"Okay Riolu answer back by using Quick Attack." Riolu's feet started to move at a rapid pace; leaving a white slipstream behind. Riolu then collided with Starly sending the bird Pokemon to the floor.

"Star Leee!" The Starly answered back to Riolu with a Quick Attack of its own. The bird Pokemon smashed into Riolu and this time it was Riolu who was lying on the floor in pain.

"Okay Riolu we can take advantage of this by using Counter." Riley commanded. Then Riolu's body was outlined in a strange brown colour and Riolu sent out a beam which connected with Starly sending the bird Pokemon rolling backwards on the floor.

"Okay Riley use Quick Attack then Sky Uppercut!" Riolu rapidly ran towards Starly; he then connected smashing Starly into the ground. Riolu then pulled back his fist then smashed it right into Starly's jaw sending the Pokemon flying back into the trees.

"Great work Riolu, now let's make out way to Jubilife City," said Riley as he lifted Riolu up to his favourite site of Riley's shoulder. Riley began walking soon enough they were in Jubilife City. Riley began to think of the sites they had passed from Sandgem to Jubilife, there wasn't much a few trees, the odd trainer and a few Shinx's but nothing too rare or elegant nothing that Riley would remember in a hurry, especially now with the new site in front of him. Jubilife City was huge perhaps the biggest city he had ever seen there were Skyscrapers everywhere and boy it was busy.

It's good, though there's room for improvement, I like it though! It was a little co\nfusing....
 
Okay thanks... I just realised some stuff that could've been confusing. This was due to being Copy and Pasted from word. I think I've fixed it know. Okay Vs. Swinub Pt 1 is almost ready to be realised.

Vs. Swinub Part 1

Riley was still staring in awe at the vast city when Riolu suddenly slapped him across the face. Riley rubbed his cheek and looked up at Riolu who immediately pointed towards a sign on a wall. Riley walked over and read the sign: Pokemon Champion George challenges you to try and defeat his Swinub, major prize if you win.

"Well Riolu looks like we have a challenge!" Riley smiled at Riolu. Riley started to walk browsing through all the other walkers, looking for someone who looked like they'd be involved with Pokemon and most importantly George. Riley noticed a familiar face, he couldn't figure out who he was; who had Riley seen before who had purple hair?

Suddenly the man stared Riley in the face and shouted to him. "Hey Riley it's me Byron!" Then Riley's mind clicked into place; he remembered the voice. He instantly reminisced his time at Lake Verity with Prof. Rowan, Cynthia and this lad, Byron.

"Oh hi Byron, by any chance do you know where George is; he claims to be a Pokemon Champion and I'm going to take him down!" Riley enthusiastically announced. Byron looked at Riley and smiled.

"Riley Riley Riley you never stop and think about other things then battling do you. Now I have just battled George and he has some tough Pokemon; you're only allowed to battle one of them. My Shieldon scraped through against his Eevee. I bet he has some other even stronger Pokemon though," said Byron. He was pointing towards an alleyway in the far corner of the city.

"Gee thanks Byron, it's been nice catching up with you; maybe a battle next time we meet hey?" Riley was way more conversational then normal.

"It's no problem Riley see you around I suppose." On that note Byron ran off to the East exit of Jubilife City and towards a cave in the distance.

Following Byron's directions Riley started walking towards the north eastern corner of the city. Eventually he came to a halt at the alleyway he had been directed to. It was all dark so Riley doubted anyone was there; so he began to walk away.

"Wait one second! Are you here to challenge moi the champion of Pokemon the great George!" A young lad of about eight or nine stood looking very confidently.

"Okay squirt your going down into the ground!" Riley replied, the kid took a step back and put one foot forward as if he was telling Riley that he was ready for battle.

"Ha you think you're going to take me down; well if you're so confident I'm going to use my strongest Pokemon. I choose you Swinub!" George chucked a black and yellow Pokeball into the air and with a flash out emerged a little brown Pokemon. Riley pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the little Pokemon:

The pig Pokemon; It evolves into Piloswine. It loves eating mushrooms that grow under dead grass. It also finds hot springs while foraging.

"Swinub huh well I choose Chimchar!" Riley pulled out Chimchar's Pokeball and with a bright white flash out came Riley's chimp Pokemon.

"Chim char chim," he shouted as he began to run away from Riley; obviously he still had mixed feelings about Riley. Riley twigged that running away was still his priority so he pulled out Chimchar's Pokeball and returned him again.

"Actually, I think I'll use Riolu." Riolu then jumped off of his shoulder and stood ready for battle.

"Ha such an amateur even your Chimchar won't obey; you better hope that Riolu can do a good job for you!" George stood high in attempt to intimidate Riley.

"For your information Riolu always does a good job for me and I'll show you. Riolu we'll start this off by using Quick Attack!" Riolu started to rapidly run towards Swinub; ready to smash into him.

"Swinub use Tackle to smash into him!" As Riolu was oncoming Swinub just jumped into Riolu to effortlessly negate Quick Attack.

"Okay, Riolu try Force Palm!" A little yellow bulge appeared on Riolu's palm. He began to run towards Swinub; ready to smash the little pig in the face with it.

"Swinub use Endure!" Swinub started to glow a weird shade of reddish pink. And when the Force Palm attack connected with Swinub; Swinub just stayed still as if nothing had happened.

"Okay that was weird it's like Force Palm didn't do anything," a confused Riley said out loud. He was scratching his head; he was definitely baffled by this.

"Ha, battling not just about attack it's also about defence and that's the speciality of my Swinub. But he can also pack a punch now Swinub use Powder Snow!" Swinub's large mouth opened out wide and snow started flying out of it towards Riolu; it was like a mini blizzard!

"Riolu use Quick Attack to get through the snow!" Riolu rapidly ran head first into the snow, in an attempt to get out, but the snow was way too thick and it moored Riolu down and stranded on the floor.

"Swinub great work; Now finish this by using Powder Snow!" Swinub once again started to fire snow straight at Riolu.

"Ha you're not the only one who can utilize defence; now Riolu use Endure before the snow hits you!" Riolu turned a bright shade of blue. As the snow hit him it all blasted off to the sides; leaving Riolu untouched and unharmed.

"Quick Swinub while he's still off guard use Powder Snow!" Swinub opened mouth opened up and snow started to fly towards Riolu's feet.

"Riolu take a step back." Riolu followed Riley's instructions and moved backwards; one step. When the snow hit the floor the floor iced up. "Perfect now Riolu slide on your belly until you reach Swinub; then use Sky Uppercut!" Riolu jumped onto the floor and landed on his belly. Riolu then began to slide down the ice and he eventually ended up right next to Swinub. Riolu then returned to his feet and with a swing of the arm; Riolu's fist connected with Swinub's chin sending the pig like Pokemon backwards into a nearby wall.

"Come on Swinub don't be a weakling get up now!" Shouted George; to his Swinub who was still lying on the floor. Swinub struggled to get up and couldn't. As George pulled out Swinub's Pokeball Riley thought he would be returning Swinub; but he didn't George just stamped on the Pokeball meaning that Swinub was now a wild Pokemon. "If you can't win I don't want you," screamed George to his defeated Pokemon. The young lad then ran away.

"Hang on what about my prize. Oh well; Riolu it looks like that Swinub is up for grabs. I think it's time we make our first capture!" Riolu jumped in front of the Swinub. The Swinub pulled itself off of the floor and Swinub too stood in front of Riolu; ready for battle.

Anywho, just all this battling is bedazzling, but I guess it's required. XD
 
Im sorry. For not explaining....

I guess it's just the waythink can't take it all in, it happens kinda fast, but thats probably because I've never really read a Pokemon battle before.
 
What? You don't think they are short... you think they are quick. Isn't quick the same as short.

Vs. Swinub Part 2

Riolu stood in front of Swinub. Then he clenched his fist; his fist then suddenly became engulfed in fire. He had learnt Fire Punch. "Well that makes this fight a lot easier!" Riley said after observing the events that had just past. "Okay let's do this; Riolu use Fire Punch!" Luckily Riolu's fist was still covered in fire so he smashed it straight into Swinub's nose. Swinub flinched then rolled on the floor to eliminate the blazing fire on his face.

"This is brilliant Riolu; keep it up. Now use Force Palm! Commanded Riley; to his trusty sidekick. Riolu started to run towards the pig like Pokemon. As Riolu was running a yellow bulge appeared on his palm. But before Riolu could thrust his palm into Swinub's face; Swinub jumped at Riolu and used Tackle; sending him flying to the floor with a thud.

"Okay we know Swinub is strong. So we need to use a lot of strategy. Riolu try using Quick Attack then when you get close you Sky Uppercut!" Riley commanded to his Riolu. Riley rapidly started to run towards Swinub; leaving a white slipstream in is wake. As Riolu got closer his fist turned bright white. He clenched his fist and began to pull it backwards; ready to punch Swinub.

Swinub then turned a dark brown colour. Swinub was using Endure. Riolu pushed his fist forwards and tried to punch Swinub. His fist connected with Swinub's chin but when the colour faded Swinub looked fine and undamaged. Riley looked at Riolu knowing this battle was only just beginning.

Swinub's mouth then opened and out came countless particles of snow. Swinub was using Icy Wind. Before Riolu could react all of the snow went flying towards the aura Pokemon. The snow covered Riolu and froze one of his feet to the floor. Riley and Riolu were sure in a sticky situation now.

"Riolu there is a pretty simple way out of this; use Fire Punch on your foot to melt the ice and free yourself!" Riolu clenched his fist and soon it was covered in fire. He pushed his fist into the ice on his feet. As soon as his heated fist touched the ice; it all melted leaving a small puddle of water on the floor. Exactly where; Riolu's foot was stuck to the ground.

Then Swinub was started to do something that Riley had only ever seen once before. And that was on TV when he was watching a Yanma fight a Donphan. Not long after the Yanma had used the move it evolved into Yanmega; it had used Ancientpower. And now this unusually strong Swinub was using the same move. Swinub stood still before he started to shake. Then a silhouette of Swinub came out and smashed into Riolu causing yet more damage to Riley's best friend.

"Riolu return we'll try out Chimchar to see what he can do. But Riolu if he tries to run away make sure you catch him okay?" Riolu followed Riley's commands and calmly strolled back to Riley's side. Riley fumbled through his backpack feeling for a round object. Riley found something round; he readied himself to chuck it out.

"Go Chimchar!" Shouted Riley as he threw; the round object. But when the object hit the floor Riley realised the object was not Chimchar's Pokeball and that it was an apple. Swinub moved the apple and swallowed it in almost one mouthful.

Riley then chucked his backpack to the ground and tipped the contents out. One of the last objects out was a small red and white ball; Chimchar's Pokeball. Riley quickly replaced the objects back into his backpack. He flipped it onto his back and rubbed his fingers over Chimchar's Pokeball; hoping that Chimchar would go back to being good just like his first battle against Professor Rowan and Kricketot.

"Go Chimchar!" Riley plucked up his courage and threw out Chimchar's Pokeball. With a bright white flash out popped his little fire monkey Pokemon. "Okay Chimchar we need to focus. It's time to battle and I need you!" Riley's eyes were almost watering with emotion; this really meant a lot to him.

But before Chimchar could react Swinub used Ancientpower yet again. Swinub's silhouette smashed into Chimchar; angering him in the process. Chimchar got up off the floor and clenched his fists; ready for battle. Maybe getting Chimchar angry would be enough to make him obey commands?

"Okay Chimchar use Ember!" Chimchar opened his mouth and released a small of ball of fire. It flew towards Swinub; at a reasonable speed. Swinub then opened his mouth and released mud. The two substances met in the middle and the mud put the fire out.

Swinub then used Ancient Power again and his silhouette came from his body and moved towards Chimchar. Once again it smashed into Chimchar knocking to the floor; making him even angrier in the process.

"Chimchar use Flame Wheel!" Chimchar covered himself in fire and started to roll towards Swinub. Swinub soon reverted to using Endure. Swinub turned a dark brown colour and waited for Chimchar to connect with him. Soon the fiery Chimchar smashed into Swinub but because of Endure Swinub stayed still and unharmed. This only succeeded in making Chimchar even angrier.

"Chimchar use Scratch!" Chimchar ran towards Swinub and readied his claws; ready to scythe them across Swinub. Chimchar got to Swinub before Swinub could move away. Chimchar clawed Swinub face. Making Swinub; wince in pain. This time Chimchar looked a little calmer because he had finally caused damage to Swinub.

Swinub then opened his mouth and let out particles of snow; and they all flew towards Chimchar. "Chimchar use Ember to melt the snow!" Commanded Riley; to his fire chimp. Chimchar opened his mouth and let out a ball of fire. Once the ball met with the snow; the ball melted the snow. The ball then carried on towards Swinub. Swinub swiftly moved to the side and avoided the small ball of fire.

"Chimchar use Fire Punch!" Chimchar ran towards Swinub. As Chimchar ran towards Swinub he clenched his fist and soon a small fire came from it and Chimchar was now ready to punch Swinub. Before Swinub could react Chimchar punched his fiery fist into Swinub. Swinub was soon set alight. Swinub began to roll on the floor to put the fire out.

During the battle Riley, his Pokemon and the Swinub had gradually moved over from a corner of the city into the middle. Now a lot of passer byers had stopped to watch this intense battle between Chimchar and Swinub.

"Chimchar use Flame Wheel!" Chimchar soon set himself a light. And he began to roll in a wheel like motion. Swinub soon used Ancientpower once again and soon a silhouette came from his body. The silhouette and the fiery Chimchar met in the middle and Chimchar and Swinub smashed off into different directions.

Soon both the tough battlers struggled into upright positions and they both readied themselves for battle. Swinub then made the first move. The little pig Pokemon then opened his mouth and let out a continuous beam of ice towards Chimchar.

"Chimchar use Ember to melt the ice!" Chimchar readied himself then spat out a ball of fire towards Swinub. Swinub tried to move to the side but because of Swinub the air the fire spread into a thick sheet and all the fire hit Swinub damaging him a lot. But once again to get rid of the fire on his body Swinub rolled along the floor.

"Chimchar we have almost finished this use Flame Wheel!" Chimchar covered himself in fire started to roll in a wheel like motion towards the wild Swinub. But while Chimchar was getting closer and closer Swinub opened up his mouth and fired a beam of ice towards Chimchar. But because of the heat the fire was generating the ice melted and Chimchar rolled through the ice and towards Swinub. Chimchar smashed into Swinub knocking out the pig Pokemon.

"Go Pokeball!" Screamed Riley as; he threw one of his empty Pokeballs towards Swinub. With a flash Swinub was engulfed into the Pokeball and it began to shake. Riley was anxious as this could be his first capture on his adventure to become a Pokemon master. Then suddenly the ball stopped and a ding sound notified Riley that he had just captured a Swinub. Riley ran over and picked up his Swinub's Pokeball.

"Yes I caught a Swinub!" Yelled Riley as; he held Swinub's Pokeball up in the air. Chimchar ran over to him and high-fived him. Maybe the pair were finally bonding. The crowd that had been growing during the battle began to applaud. Then one man walked up to Riley. Riley noticed the mans name tag. He worked at Jubilife's television station. Riley then waited to hear what the man would say.

That was good! Very interesting! Captures are always interesting.
 
Thanks....... anyways guys I'll work on the next chapter and hopefully have Vs. Snorunt up by maybe Sunday.
 
ok! Here's my (delayed) advice! I reread the entire story because I hadn't read the VS Swinub part at all and foregot a lot of things. Anyway, personally I think that the battles so far a quick, short, and a little boring. By far the best battle was VS. Swinub. Add some more description, and read your story's battling part to yourself and see what you think...also I found a lot of grammatical errors and all in your story...

Anyway can't wait to read more! Also, I saw that sometimes when someone asked a question...you ended it with a period and not a question mark? Why is that?
 
yeah by the way the first three chapters aren't very good I know. Vs. Swinub Parts 1 & 2 are much better. And they are longer and more exciting battles and have better grammar. So you know I'm getting much better....... Vs. Snorunt I think will be even better.
 
Hey, I wanted to say great job on this. Once you work on a certain piece for an extended period of time you learn new things and the writing does get better. I have noticed a change in the style and that is great because that proves you are growing as a writer. Keep up the good work and never stop writing, I look forward to the next installment.
