The Adventures of Yoshi
Chapter 9-The Date

Atam, Alan, and Malcin watched Yoshi and Andy talking to each other.

"Yoshi, would you like to go to the ball with me?" Andy asked.
"Well, I…" Yoshi stuttered.
"Please say yes!"
"I'll think about it…"
"Really? Cool!" Andy said cheerfully as he ran to Atam, Alan, and Malcin.

Yoshi stayed behind, stunned.

"Okay…"
"Hey, guess what? I asked that cute girl Yoshi out and she said she'll think about it!" Andy said.
"You know that doesn't mean she'll actually go out with you…" Atam said with his arms crossed.
"Well what do you know about dates?" Andy asked. "Not like you've ever been on one before…"

Prince Atam was starting to rage with jealously.

I can't believe he asked her out already! And she said that she'll think about it…he better not be flirting with her at the ball or ruin my chances with her!

"Calm down Atam." Malcin said.
"So Malcin, who are you asking to the ball?" Andy asked.
"I don't know yet."
"Well, I hope you get someone soon. Good luck!" Prince Andy said as he left. "So long, my angel!"
"Uh, bye." Yoshi said as with a sweat-drop. She approached the others. "Glad that's over."
"What do you mean? Don't you want to go with my brother?" Atam asked, still in rage.
"It's not that, it's just that he's not the right guy I'm looking for." Yoshi said dreamily. "By the way, who are you guys going to ask?"

Malcin gave Atam a small kick at his foot.

"Ask her," Malcin said quietly as he left. Prince Alan followed.
"Yoshi, would you like to…"
"To…what?"
"To go with me to the ball?"

Oh great! Before I had to worry about Andy, now Atam? What's next? Hmm…maybe he does like me. Yes! Yoshi said excitedly in her mind.

"Um…"
"I don't know, I'll think about it okay?" Yoshi said shyly as she lightly blushed.
"Well…okay. Wait, can I invite you to a romantic dinner with me?"
"Sure, that sounds great!" Yoshi said excitedly.
"Cool. So…"
"When is it?"
"Uh…tonight."
"Okay then. I'm looking forward to the dinner. Are you making it?" Yoshi asked.
"Yep. The one and only!"

Yoshi giggled.

Wow, he cooks? That's so romantic! How sweet! Yoshi said in her thoughts.

"Okay, then I'll see you tonight."
"Okay."
"See ya later!" Yoshi waved to him as she left.

Oh great, what have I done? Now what am I going to tell the others?

Meanwhile…

"Tyra, would you like to go with me to the ball?" Andrew asked.
"Thank you for the offer but no thanks."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"Fine," Andrew said, leaving like mad.
"Sorry." Tyra said.

He doesn't understand that I truly love Malcin. I sure hope he asks me…Tyra thought.

"What's with him?" Malcin asked.
"I didn't want to go with him to the ball and now he's angry." Tyra said with a sigh.
"He'll get over it soon."
"Are you sure?"
"Trust me, he will. I know him."
"If you say so."
"Say Tyra," Malcin started.
"What is it?" she asked calmly with her eyes gleaming.

Those eyes, I can't resist! They're too convincing but I have to ask her, the voice inside his head thought.

"Would you, could you…go to the ball with me?" Malcin said as he nervously smiled.

Tyra giggled then smiled.

"Sure, I'd love to go with you."
"Oh, thank you!" Malcin said as he gave her a hug.

Tyra blushed.

"You're welcome."
"Then I'll see you later then." Malcin said.
"Sure."
"Bye."
"Bye."

Yes! I did it! Oh yeah, who's the man? I'm the man! Okay, enough of that. Now, I'll got see what Atam's up to…Malcin thought.

Yay, he asked me! I'm so happy! I haven't felt this happy ever since! My dream is finally going to come true! I think there's a little romance between Yoshi and Atam! This could be interesting, Tyra thought with a giggle. They're both perfect for each other! I better see Yoshi.

Malcin was looking from floor to floor, looking for Prince Atam. After several minutes, Malcin sees Prince Atam. He was sitting outside of the palace, admiring the view of all he could possibly imagine. Malcin went up to him.

"How did it go?"
"It was cool."
"What did she say?"
"She said she'll think about the ball but she was really happy about the date." Prince Atam said as he looked up at the sky. "And I said that I would make the date tonight."
"Oh." Malcin said. "Wait, tonight? Why did you say that?"
"I messed up again."
"So what are you waiting for? The food's not going to make itself you know."
"But what should I make her?"
"Uh…"

That's a good question. Atam can't cook a thing, Malcin thought as he sighed.

"Maybe you can try…I don't know. Try cooking lasagna."
"Lasagna? Do you know how long it takes to make that?"
"Ok fine, that was a bad idea. Try making pizza."
"No, that's not romantic."
"Man, you sure are picky about it…"
"Hey, I want to make her something romantic and nice for the lovely Yoshi." Prince Atam said dreamily.
"Then why not your spaghetti? Oops." Malcin said as he covered his mouth.
"What was that?"
"Oh nothing!"
"I thought you said spaghetti."
"Uh…no I didn't! I said…sushi! Yeah that's it. Sushi!"
"Yeah, right. Besides, I don't know how to make that. Not even you know how to make that."
"Good point."
"Oh wait, I got it! I'll make her spaghetti!" Prince Atam announced proudly.

No, anything but that! Now I really have to warn Yoshi…Malcin said nervously inside his mind.

"Uh…why not try something else besides your spaghetti?"
"But I want to prove that I can cook spaghetti without any distractions."
"Just like the spaghetti incident." Malcin joked.
"What did you say?" Prince Atam snapped.
"Nothing."
"Okay, then spaghetti it is! I'll be in the kitchen. Don't let Yoshi or anyone come in, okay?"
"You got my word."
"To the kitchen!" Prince Atam claimed proudly as he ran inside.

Malcin stayed behind until Prince Alan appraoched. He noticed Malcin had a pale face.

"Please don't tell me that was Atam running to the kitchen right?"
"Unfortunately it was Atam as a matter of fact. And you believe what's he going to cook for Yoshi…" Malcin said.
"What?"
"His famous burning spaghetti." They both said at the same time.
"He's making his second attempt?"
"Yes." Malcin said as he sighed disappointedly.
"I think we should warn Yoshi…"
"Let's make that our priority of the day." Malcin joked.
"Yep, let's do that."

They both started to run like crazy, trying to find Yoshi all over the place. Meanwhile…

"He asked you on a date? How sweet of him!" Tyra said at the thought of Yoshi and Atam together, on a date.
"But what should I wear?"
"Wear something cute and romantic. That always does the trick!"
"Yep, that's a good idea. Hmm…I wonder what Prince Atam's going to cook for me on our date." Yoshi wondered.
"I'm sure he'll make something nice Yoshi."
"Yeah, what am I so worried about?" Yoshi said as she shrugged.

Just then, Malcin and Prince Alan appeared and ran past Yoshi and Tyra, not noticing. But then they both stopped and backed up to where Yoshi and Tyra were sitting.

"Yoshi!" Prince Alan panted.
"Hi Tyra." Malcin said shyly as he handed her a bunch of red roses.
"Hi Malcin. You brought these for me? How thoughtful!" Tyra said as she hugged him tighter than ever, strangling Malcin.
"I'm…glad you…like it." Malcin said, trying to breathe.
"Oh, sorry. I went a little overboard there." Tyra said with a sweat-drop.
"What's up guys?" Yoshi asked.
"Yoshi, we need to warn you about Atam." Prince Alan said.
"What about him?"
"Be warned of what you're going to eat."
"Uh…what's that supposed to mean?"
"His cooking is…"
"Is what? Are you saying that he can't cook?" Yoshi asked.
"Basically."
"So?"
"We're just warning you about his cooking."
"Okay…"
"So…we'll see you two later. Bye!" Prince Alan said as he and Malcin ran once again out of sight.

Yoshi and Tyra sweat-dropped.

"Uh…was it just me or was it just plain freaky?" Tyra asked.
"I guess we'll never understand guys." Yoshi said as she shrugged.

Prince Atam was in the kitchen, trying to find the cookbooks for spaghetti.

"Where can it be?" he asked himself.

He looked around the kitchen once again until he finally found one.

"Aha! Here we go!" Prince Atam happily said.

After a certain amount of time, he was almost done with the spaghetti. The spaghetti was very rich in red, heating up calmly in the pot.

"I'm sure this will be much better than last time!"

Just then, the phone started ringing.

"Where have I seen this before? Hmm…to answer the phone or not to answer, that is the question." He said as he put thought into it.

The phone was ringing several times.

"I'll get the phone and end the call quickly." Prince Atam said as he quickly went to the phone and answered it. "Hello? Sorry, can't talk now. Bye!" he said as he hung up and placed the phone back into its place. "There!"

Meanwhile, Yoshi was already waiting at the table for her food. She was wearing a sparkling diamond blue-green dress. Her dark, shiny black hair was free and was with a beautiful flower placed right her ear. Her earnings were blue-green sparkles that matched perfectly with the dress.

"Hmm…what did they mean about Prince Atam's cooking? Oh well, it was maybe nothing. I'll just wait."

She waited quietly in the dining room, wondering what the prince could possibly cook for her. Just then, a young waiter entered the door pushing a cart full of delicious food. Yoshi awed as she gleamed at the food as the waiter put the food for Yoshi.

"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Uh, could you tell me when Prince Atam is coming?"
"He said to stay put that he'll be here momentary."
"Oh ok. Thanks."

The waiter bowed to her and left the dining room. Yoshi sat there, alone, eating her food.

"Where could he be?"

Just then, romantic dance music went on, startling Yoshi. A door opened to the right of her that led to an inspiring balcony. Yoshi gasped as she smiled and got up from the table and walked to the balcony. She admired the view that it gave her. She then looked at the stars of the moonlight and saw a full moon.

"It's beautiful night."
"But not as beautiful as you." A voice said calmly.
"Huh?"

He came out of the shadows of the night. A young man about Yoshi's age appeared as he wore his black, classic tux and had a red rose in his hands. He went up to her and gave her the red rose. Yoshi blushed at the sight it was.

"Thank you." Yoshi said, as she smelled the aroma of the red rose lightly. She went up to his arms and hugged him. "You're very sweet, you know that?"
"But you're sweeter than I can ever imagine." Prince Atam said as he felt her into his arms again. "So what did you think of my cooking?"
"It was great!" Yoshi excitedly said. "I truly loved it!"
"That's great. I thought you would hate it. It almost got burned…"
"I have to admit, you're a fine cook!"
"Thanks. So…"
"Yeah?"
"Do you want to go with me to the ball tomorrow night?"
"Sure, I would love that!" Yoshi said happily.

A girl smiled at the sight of the two. Her eyes were filled with envy as if they had fire blazing. Yoshi and Prince Atam continued to talk as the girl continued to observe them, unaware that she is there.
