The April game jam has officially begun, with the (optional) theme being "Circular"! Everyone is allowed to participate and create any kind of game they want for the whole month of April. Here's an overview of some rules, guidelines and more.

Rules
For an eligible game jam entry, there are a few rules you should follow:
• You have to make and submit a new game. You can't have started work on the game, aside from planning, any earlier than April 1st.
• Your team size cannot exceed four members. The limit is meant to encourage people to make their own game entry and keep teams small and effective.
• All resources and assets used for the game must be made public at the end of the game jam, including the game itself. The reason for this is so people can learn from your game and your work. (This does not mean people are allowed to use them and build upon them; just your assets have to be publicly available)
• The game should be submitted before April 30th. There will be a small buffer to allow for timezones, but do try to submit it as soon as you can.
• Entries created on a hacked ROM will not be considered as submissions. This event is intended for sparking creative discussion in the Game Development section. Don't worry; there will be many more ROM Hacking events in the future!

Submission
To submit your game, you should post your thread in the April Game Jam forum with the [Submission] prefix. There it will be reviewed and approved. You should follow the same guidelines as in the Games Showcase when writing your thread; after the winners have been decided, all April Game Jam threads will be merged with the Games Showcase.

The winners
There will be two winners this event. One of the submissions will be decided on by the judges, called the Judge Choice, and the community will be able to vote on their favorite game, the Community Choice.
The judges will take as long as necessary to decide on a winner for Judge Choice. The duration of the community vote will also be announced once the submission period is over.
The two winning games will receive a special `AGJ2019 Judge/Community Choice` prefix when it's moved back into the Games Showcase.

The details
To answer the most frequently asked questions and clear up any confusion:
• The theme of this game jam is completely optional. Although the game wouldn't qualify for Judge Choice, it would still be eligible for Community Choice.
• You are allowed to make quick bug fixes after the submission period ends. Note that bugs and mistakes are human, and that they won't be judged harshly.
• The judges will be revealed once the submission period is over. To volunteer to become a judge, please message Marin.
• Games made by one or more judges are not eligible for Judge Choice, but are still eligible for Community Choice.
