    FOR MEW/SMEARGLE:
    Mew:
    Baton pass/toxic
    Mean look
    Transform
    Imprision

    if using mew, and u use baton pass you may as well have something 2 baton pass to:

    (not sure if transform is passed on w/ baton pass, but either way ditto can transform and have the same effect)

    Ditto: @ metal powder
    tranform

    or for
    Smeargle: @quick claw/focus band
    Spore
    Mean Look/baton pass
    Transform
    Imprision

    with this moveset, (most wont use mew b/c its "UBAR") smeargle will rely on luck to go first but if it does, and the opponent doesnt get cured or switched after u put the opponent to sleep, use mean look,then you can use imprision then transform. this way your opponent cant use ANY of their moves, not only b/c they are asleep, but even when they wake-up they cant hurt you b/c of imprision. if you feel like smeargle cant do the job b/c of its low stats it really doesnt matter, b/c they cant switch and its jsut a matter of time b4 they get killed by their own moves. but then again if they use struggle, it can be enough... lol

    I don't come to this part of the boards often, buy I must applaud you for ths well-thought out scheme.

    Only one problem to my mind...Consider that when you usetransform, you copy the oppoenent's moves with only 5 (or is it 10?) pp for each. I sure hope your opponent's pokemon doesn't have four moves that aren't very effective againt itself.
     
    the greatest problem is that Spore on Smeragle is so predictable and easy to block, that the first step of the plan will fail... not too fast either. However, it is quite an impressive strategy and thought. Too bad that it just won't work =/

    I've never tried imprison with transform either, but I think that imprison will change accordingly after you used transform.
     
    there are 5 ways to beat my strategy: subsitute, baton pass (if it breaks through the mean look), wobbafet (since u cant switch or use any attacking moves, but even so if this works wabbafet can only use struggle and you can counter the struggle until it dies, after u have transformed), roar and whirl wind, and the articuno *mind reader/sheer cold combo). a way to beat them all: going first and using spore.
    A way to beat the articuno trick: if u went first use imprision, then articuno will use mind reader, then you use transform, and articuno cant use sheer cold, *and this also give u the 2 hit 1hko combo. *basically dont use meanlook/toxic yet, jsut use the other 2 moves to stop the 1hko, then use meanlook/toxic
    a way to beat roar/whirlwind: if you decided to use ingrain instead of toxic

    I have thought of another possible moveset, however it wont trully work for smrealge b/c it doesnt have spore. also this takes longer, but may prove to work better if transform doesnt work: @choice band- trick,mean look, imprision, mimic
    u trick first, you mean look 2nd, you mimic, 3rd, you imprision 4th. 2 more flaws to this: 1.they could switch b4 mean look, since u are using mean look as the 2nd attack.
    2. the move u get from mimic could be bad.
    *altho this takes longer, it still has the same effect. both work for mew, but this 1 doesnt really work for smeargle.
     
    two things:
    1) Mew doesn't get Baton pass, last I checked.
    2) If you don't have Mean look, opponent just switches and owns your Ditto with something SE. IF you do, then you can't baton pass. You lose either way.
     
    i thoguht u were good mana... mew can learn ANY MOVE, at least w/ net battle. same with smeargle... neways, u only use ditto after bp, after mean look.
    another possibility is: spore, mean look, nightmare, nightshade or sub if smeargle
    or for mew: curse, shadow ball, conversion, meanlook/spore. (it depends on luck to get the ghost type instead of grass from spore, but either way u can eventually get it and then gain stab from shadowball, and then u curse. once u meanlook, it will do alot of damage, and they cant escape
     
    lol! Mew can learn any TM, not any move. Unless there's a new tm called baton pass ;p Research before you speak.

    I don't think that the strategy needs to go through with baton pass if you did pull off by pure miracle, trap+imprison. Use this to a stat boosting Pokemon (ideal target: Tyranitar without lum berry and is too dumb to switch out immediately next turn). Spore it, then imprison in advance, finish it off with transform. Dragon dance 5 turns safely (or whatever stat boost is available) and proceed to sweep.

    Problem is the fact that anything related to Smeragle is very easy to beat >>; Anything faster messes it over. Anything with anti-sleep messes any spore strategy. Anyone who knows how to switch will mess it over.

    Wobbuffet > your Smeragle in that struggle war. Wobbuffet will always have leftovers, and its Struggle will do so little damage, that within the 5 counters you got, you will fail to knock out Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet's leftover healing heals more than its recoil, so eventually it'll catch up to your hp, resulting in a tie game. Any battle between Wobbuffet vs Wobbuffet regardless unless one is affected by toxic/will o wisp/leech seed, will always result in a tie game.

    Articuno has no "trick", and 3/4 of all the Pokemon in existence can defeat Articuno. That mind reader/sheer cold thing is almost the only thing that it can do, and it's not even that effective of a strategy, considering that Articuno have no speed to pull it off to a threatening situation (or have around 300 speed but no defense, which means "doom" for a strategy that will always require Articuno to be hit once.) It's one of the least of many worries.

    Smeragle using trick band is... not too useful? After the choice band is switched away, really Smeragle becomes quite useless if the opponent got half a brain. Any offensive attacks touching Smeragle will result in a dead Smeragle, so they'll stay and try to destroy Smeragle if they can. If they can't and is left with a choice band, then obviously, they'll switch out... But ok, let's assume that the opponent is too dumb to switch out. You used mimic and imprison... ok alright, so what's next? Super long stall festival in which both sides cannot do damage... actually, no! The opponent will struggle Smeragle to death, and with such a low defense Smeragle got, Struggle will probably be enough to kill Smeragle already...

    In other word: it's a terrible way to make a battle unnecessarily long, with the same ending result as only using the trick band...

    The original idea is more creative and much more constructive... too bad it doesn't work due to the flaw Mana pointed out already.

    [retorical question] Hmm... can Smeragle really learn all the moves in the world? I wonder how does it learn grudge or self destruct... [/retorical question]
     
    in a 2vs2 battle duh....... either they will target your teammate, or just have ur team mate use protect, then sketch. then exlposion wont work. also cant mew use transform into a smeargle, then use sketch from the smeargle and get baton pass if the smeargle uses baton pass? or does that wear off too? and if it doesnt that means u can teach ditto moves too!

    And Smeragle can't learn any self-KO moves regardless of 1vs1 or 2vs2. You have to sketch the user of the attack to learn it, and how could you do that when the user dies right after, before you can even sketch? >>; Since sketch only matters for the user and the sketch user, it doesn't matter at all if it's 2vs2 or not, or if your partner is using protect. Plus, why would anyone want to use self-KO moves with Smeragle when you got sketch...

    Frosty, it came to my attention the other day that in a 2v2, Damp blocks Explosion, smeargle sketch, = good =)

    In GSC, there's always the Mewtation trick for Mew to get BAton pass, but hey, that's not legal =(
     
    so your are all ultimately saying that the imprision, transform, mean look combo doesnt work, or just that there are plenty of ways to beat it?
    and did u all also say that the trick, imprision, mimic/transform, mean look combo also doesnt work?
    baton pass doesnt really matter, its just for ditto, so i would give mew toxic instead.
    either way, y'all have 2 admit its still a gr8 moveset when it can work, and I was the first 2 think of it... *well, think of it and post it...

    Hmm... but doesn't Damp stop the attack from being used at all and attack fails? Didn't know that sketch still counted for "failed" attacks... if that's the case, you can always go to Colosseum and play with the clause for no Self KO for last Pokemon, and get the other suicide attacks that Damp cannot stop, such as Memento...

    Sheer Cold > Guillotine btw, so ghost types can't stop it.

    nah... it's like how confuse ray affects normal types, status moves are not affected because of types (ex: Destiny Bond affects normal types, same for Grudge and etc).

    However, there are a few exceptions. Toxic is an example, that steel/normal types are immune to it. Leech seed doesn't affect grass types as well, as another example.

    I think he was supposed to say Steel or Poison types. I did wonder about that myself
