The Children Are Hunted

Zaria, unfortunately, could read Marcus' mind. "We just do, I guess," she said simply. "After a while, it just... you get used to it sometimes. You don't like it, but you kind of... accept it."

"You accept you're a monster," Alyss mumbled, hearing Zaria's words, not Marcus' thoughts. Ignoring her darker thoughts, she came to a decision and opened the Pokeball. It was a Cyndaquil and it looked vaguely different from other kinds. It squeaked in alarm and buried itself in Alyss' arms. Arca chuckled quietly.

Zoran chuckled, guessing what she meant. She reminded him of Cody, except not nearly as purposely indifferent. She was more like Doom in her playful nature. The hound waved his tail at her, having been being a heating pad for Mickey for the past few minutes. The boy was still asleep. "I think a lot of the people here would say I worry too little." He gently began to massage her leg.

"Creatures can be the same yet different," Doom barked randomly. "Like you and Leaf. Leaf is so different from you, he's such a crier but you are happy yes you are. See? Even Pokemon are different."

"You're no monster. You're just you," Esper said simply. Marcus nodded his agreement.
"Esper's right!" Marcus said. Thomas began stirring.
"Esper's right? A rare moment indeed," Thomas said sleepily.
"I love you too!" Esper said to Thomas alone. He turned to the cydanquil.
"Don't be scared, we won't hurt you," Esper said, sending it friendly feelings and kindness.

Amber glared up at Zoran, but soon knocked it off when her leg stopped hurting as much. She turned to Doom.
"Who's Leaf? I've never met anyone like that before! Esper and Arca are the closest to me that I've ever seen!" she said with a grin.

Leo sighed, withdrawing his Aura-sight. It seems that he hadn't gotten through with his telepathy. Still, he was sure that that boy was the one that he and Garet needed to capture. Then there was the other Aura he'd sensed just before retracting his Aura-sight.

Thinking through what he knew of his situation, the Lucario looked up at the bars above him. With walls so smooth that he couldn't get enough grip, he would need those bars removed and have someone else reach down to pull him up. And the only non-AAPM human he actually knew of that was in this room was...the boy.

Leo's head dropped forward to lean against the wall, creating a dull thud. It would be close to the opposite of Garet's mission. Possibly the best way to get out without waiting for his partner, though. The AAPM might do something before the Arcanine ever got here. Leo extended his Aura-sight again, going directly to the boy's cell. This time, he telepathically shouted at him, "Can you hear me?!" The shout was to make sure he could be heard.

~~~~~
It took a bit of time before Garet found the tech section of the base. He shook himself to release any leftover rainwater he still had before walking in. He might as well find out now how much they'd fixed on the plane. The Arcanine spotted the Elekid and walked over, avoiding pieces of equipment along the way. "Did you fix the plane?" he asked once he'd gotten to the Elekid.
The Elekid tried to not grin as he saw the Arcanine's slightly poofed-up fur. "There were several wires behind the paneling that had been chewed through," he replied. "We brought in the plane just minutes ago, thankfully before it could be struck by lightning. It will take a while to assess the damage and repair it."
Garet growled almost inaudibly, still fuming from what he considered his failure to actually do anything. He'd have to wait. "Before you go anywhere," he said, after a moment, "is there a place here for the CM Project?"
The Elekid nodded. "Yes," he answered, then turned and waved over a Pikachu. "He'll show you where to go."
Alyss giggled softly as the baby twitched and trembled, sniffing around her in curiosity. "Cinder's a baby," she said simply. "He hasn't been around this many before. He can't even talk yet." The Pokemon let out a strange crying noise as if to agree with her. "So he doesn't know what you're saying."
Zari smiled. "Let me try." She lightly gave him a mental nudge. Cinder looked up in confusion. It was harder to show images to a non-Psychic type but she could now. She just sent him a warm, bubbly feeling. THe baby squealed, looking excited. The girls laughed.
"He is a Leafeon like you," replied Doom. "We have not seen him or his trainer in a long time. He's been hiding like a smart human."
"Even if he doesn't understand my words, he understands th feeling behind them!" Esper said, continuing to send the cyndaquil feelings of safety, friendship, and joy. He sent Cinder the feeling that he was very happy to meet him. Thomas grinned at them.
"Hey, he's really cute!" Thomas said quietly so he didn't startle the poor baby.
"How would you know? I thought you couldn't see!" Marcus said. Thomas shook his head. Trust him to point out the obvious.
"I can't see with my eyes, but babies are always cute. Even moreso are baby pokemon," Thomas said. Esper sent him the image of what Cinder looked like, causing him to smile grandly.
Amber didn't reply. Instead she looked up at Zoran. She wanted to get up and move around! Wasn't he done yet? She gave him the large amber eyed look that she had given Thomas when they first met. That always worked!
Cinder let out a quiet croon. He looked a bit more at ease and went over to greet Sparx. HE stumbled a fair few times but made it there. The flames on his back were gone.The Luxray purred. She liked babies. Cinder jumped, then climbed onto Sparx's head. He squeaked at Alyss, which she understood as: I'm King of the Mountain! The girl burst into giggles. Sparx chuckled. She didn't mind. Ash was laughing.
Esper let out his high pitched giggle again. Thomas laughed too when Esper showed him what had happened. He reached down and pet Esper. The cat was silly. He relaxed and looked out for Mia. She was still in the forest with someone else and a pokemon. That was about all the Light Vision told him. He didn't even know that they were in the forest, but they looked about that far away. He hated Light Vision a little bit. He had no depth perception.
Ash shook her head, guessing Thomas' thoughts. He had to be patient. Sometimes the power didn't always give you what you wanted. Cinder squeaked again, sniffing around. Alyss was sleepy again. She laid her head on Sparx, the feline rolling her eyes, and used her as a pillow. Cinder let out another cry, this one softer and curled up next to her. Zanna popped out of her own Pokeball at this. She looked slightly jealous but put it aside. Babies needed special attention after all. So she decided to bug Arca, stealing her Pokeball. Arca went after the Dark-type, who was snickering.
Connected Once Again?
(You guys do work fast. xD)
Tony's heart stopped when he saw her. They looked enough alike, but it was impossible. Or not. After all, he didn't know anything about his past life. He looked at her and finally spoke.
"Hello. Hi, umm...hey. Okay hang on, I can do this all again. I mean...oh...great, this is just awful. My name's Tony. Do...do I know you?"
The question seemed fake and he knew her response may be a ruse to simply excite him more. He waited for the answer as he examined their similarities.
"I don't know... You look like someone I know. And I heard you calling me. I'm Mia! And I'm not sure if I should say Nice to meet you, or good to see you again. So... I guess I'll stick with hello," Mia said softly. She barely remembered someone. She wished she could be sure, though. This boy looked so familiar. And when he had told her his name, she thought she recognized it.
Amber got tired of this and leapt off of Zoran's lap. She wanted to move! Not have someone messing with her leg! She took a few steps, and found her leg felt a little better. She ran joyously around the room. She crouched, and leapt on Doom's head, nestling herself between his horns.
Marcus laughed as the Zorua stole the pokeball. Esper lifted it away from both of them.
"It's mine now!" He said playfully. He laughed and sent it rolling around on the floor toward himself, before batting it away again.
"I thought it was yours?" Thomas said with a smile.
"I changed my mind!" Esper said, still watching the ball.
The Amnesia Chronicles: Calming the Pain
He wished there was a way for his memory to return. Who was this young girl. The only other lead was the gym leader, Simon. Why did he remember him and not Mia? Mia...then the memories came. But, not the ones he needed. Tony remembered the Abra was sitting next to him, then the burst of light, and finally, the absence of any sound. Ms. Karen had left. If she worked for the RDM, which Mark had told him about
He wished there was a way for his memory to return. Who was this young girl. The only other lead was the gym leader, Simon. Why did he remember him and not Mia? Mia...then the memories came. But, not the ones he needed. Tony remembered the Abra was sitting next to him, then the burst of light, and finally, the absence of any sound. Ms. Karen had left. If she worked for the RDM, which Mark had told him about, then why would she be testing on him.
"H-have you ever done anything...you couldn't really...you know. Understand?" his voice was nervous but his question was straightforward. He was looking for answers, and if they could be found, he would get them. His eyes began to glow and he levitated an apple from a nearby tree.
"Like that." Tony released the apple and felt tired.
*******************************************************
The ninja looked around and found a slight hole in the base of the wall. The Pokeballs had been released from their lock by their agile fingers. Mark watched as he scurried away from view as Regis walked towards him.
"I DON'T want to see you, father, or are you even my father?"
Regis pursed his lips and turned away from the furious boy. "When you are ready to talk I will be waiting." he turned around and began to walk away. He heard the yells behind him and waited for the one he wanted to hear.
"You monster!" "A father would never act like this." I trusted you!" "Where are my friends?!" Then it came. "P-please..."
Regis turned back around and headed back. He looked down at Mark. He must've been a better father than he knew because with so many differences in their appearance, Mark had had no idea of his real father. He peered down at the trapped boy and examined him for any fear. Mark looked scared and weak, perfect. Then, the boy opened his mouth and spit at his face.
"Ugh! You little brat. Of course I'm not your father. Do you think such insolence would come from me?!"
"Then why! You...you are a monster! I would rather be dead than remember those years I spent trapped in my room."
"That can be arranged and quite easily, in fact, I could call the executioner right now. He took out his phone and began to dial. He turned away as the ninja shook their hand for Mark to come to the corner.
"Are you ready to break out?"
"I'll give you a signal. Like three nods." he whispered.
Regis turned back to face him. Mark flipped his hand so that the phone was knocked out of his "father's" hand. Regis laughed as Mark stared at him coldly. Then he reached down to pick it up as a small yellow being ran out and took it. A Cyndaquil? Mark nodded three times as if assuring him what was about to happen was going to proceed. A blast from the door and they were out of the holding facility. They were primed and ready to reach the west wing, Regis looked at that ninja-like person. Them again? Yet Mark didn't leave right away.
"I will kill you." and with that, Mark slipped out the wall, Regis' phone in hand.
Zoran chuckled. "You look comfy up there," he said, as Doom woofed his agreement. For some reason a smile touched the shadow boy's lips. Something had begun. He didn't know what it was but he felt excited. Beneath him, the darkness of death stirred. Whatever it was... it would change something, perhaps everything.
Arca leapt on the Pokeball, snatching it and running away. Zanna hurried after her, barking softly and growling. She stole the Pokeball and ran off, bouncing it on her head. Arca sighed and let her.
"Well... No. I can't do anything like that. But all my friends can. Come on. We should get out of this rain before we get sick. Also, when Thomas goes back to the gym, I want you to meet my big brother. He might be able to help," Mia said, biting her lip.
"Esper, Dora, Ness, any of you that are watching me. I think that we are ready to come in. Let me hear what Tony has to say, and then I'll decide if both of us are coming or just me," Mia said with her mind. She felt slightly stupid doing it, but didn't know what else to try.
"Very well, I'll let the others know. Make sure he knows what's going to happen. Thomas says he doesn't want to fight him because he freaks out about being teleported," Esper said in her mind.
"Um... Tony. If you do want to come in where my friends are, then you should know that we'd be teleported. They've got a barrier up so that those RDM guys from before can't get them, and that's the only way through," Mia said. That's when it hit her. Tony reminded her a little of Simon! But... Not that much. He still looked more like her father had when he was a boy.
Amber was quite comy where she was. Dooms head was very comfy! She heard a skittering down the hall and spotted Zanna chasing a pokeball.
"That looks like fun!" she said and she went after it too.
"Mia says that she's almost ready to come back. Give her a moment to find out if she'll have company. We'll need a few towels, as they are very wet," Esper reported.
"Ok. Any idea who she's bringing?" Thomas asked.
"I know exactly who she's bringing! I have the ability to break the fourth wall. But neither of them do yet. In their minds, they have yet to much that concetion yet," Esper said mysteriously. He refused to elaborate further, despite Thomas's questioning. Thomas gave up and said, "fine, don't tell me! I'll find out on my own!"
"Yes you will!" Esper said.
(Esper, you cannot beat Zaria's ability to break fourth wall, lmao)
Ash shrugged and got up to get them. This woke Alyss, who stirred confusedly. Sparx took this as her cue, easily picking up the girl and Cinder and putting them back on her back. She padded over to a corner of the room and set them down again. "Um..." Alyss mumbled dazedly. "I can walk." Sparx snorted in disbelief and curled up again. Alyss sighed and went back to sleep.
Dora nodded respectfully to the Alakazam. She knew it would be easier to let the Pokemon decide as well. So she remained quiet, waiting for the order.
Doom grunted as she bounced off his head before laughing quietly as Zanna fled with the Pokeball. "Mine," Zanna declared, smirking. "It's mine now!" She chased it away, daring Amber to follow.
"You understand that this project is not meant to be common knowledge, right?" the Pikachu asked. "Of course, you would understand. Someone such as yourself would not go telling every other human about it. As far as I know, me and Mr. Tech Leader back there are the only ones in the regular tech section here who are actually trusted to not do the same thing."
Garet was silent as he looked around at the room he'd been led into. It looked just like the one he'd first visited. The machines, the section set apart for those who made sure everything ran smoothly, the section where curious Devisers could watch and decide whether they wanted to learn something that would be nearly impossible to learn naturally. The Arcanine finally asked, "Are there still any bugs in those things?"
"A few," the Pikachu answered. "The most prominent one, though, is that each whatchamacallit, I forget their name, will just shut down after being used once and won't do a thing for anywhere from a few days to a few months. It hasn't been figured out why they do it. Otherwise, there shouldn't be anything, um..." She coughed. "...life threatening. Oh, you already know what needs to happen afterwards, right?"
Any Deviser who went through this would need to practice whatever he or she learned in order to get used to it. "Yes," Garet answered. Humans and their machines...what would they come up with next? He privately thought it was probably a good thing that there weren't more humans in the RDM.
Who knew what they'd be doing to Leo by now? At least going through this would occupy Garet's time until the plane was fixed.
(OOC: Sorry about not posting all afternoon. I was posting in other things and kind of forgot.)
Thomas laughed and Sparx's antics. She was very funny. He heard Zanna and Amber chasing after the pokeball. They were also funny.
"I wonder what Mia and her friend are talking about," Thomas said.
"They're more than just friends," Esper said. Thomas started coughing, and he looked around.
"Wh-what?!" Thomas said, bewildered. Esper giggled loudly and sent his amusement to Thomas. He didn't feel all that amused.
"You should see the look on your face! It's priceless! No, they aren't that either, though it's funny to see you jump to conclusions. They are blood. Like... Marcus and Robby, only different. What's the word I am thinking of. Ah, yes, siblings! But don't any of you let them know that!" Esper said. Thomas growled and shoved him playfully off his lap. Esper retaliated by sending the image of his face and what had caused it to Zoran and Ash, the two that were awake to appreciate it, but not in the room to see it first hand.
"That's just cruel," Thomas groaned when Esper told him what he had done. Esper giggled some more and walked off to go find Amber and Zanna and see what the two of them had done with that pokeball.
Zoran and Ash both snickered and Ash hummed a strange little tune to herself as she brought towels into the room. "You're so innocent sometimes Thomas," she commented, placing the towels down and carefully beginning to shine what had to be badges. "It's kind of cute. If Zora and I weren't together, one of us might find that attractive. Doubt it though, I think Mickey would beat us with a cross if we came close. Or you, if I think about it." Ash stated this very casually, unconcerned that she might have messed with his head somehow. She sat there, quietly working at it. It had been a while since she had shined them.
Zanna bounded away from Amber, bolting up one of the bed frames to land on the upper mattress. "Hah!" she cried. "Come and get it!"
(Is cool lol. Hah vampire reference!)
"I didn't think Thomas was the type to get jealous," Marcus said dreamily. He was coming into and out of the conversation. Thomas resisted the urg to kill them all. But he didn't bother to deny anything.
"Shut up! All of you! I like her, ok? And it's really none of your buisiness!" Thomas said angrily, ignoring what Ash and Marcus had said.
"It's my buisiness! I'm you partner and best friend. But I like her too. She has the capablility to be nice, unlike a certain female that has fallen for the man of the shadows out there!" Esper called from the room that Amber and Zanna were in. He had just taken a jibe at Ash. He must really be feeling bold! What had gotten into him today? He loved to joke around, but... Ah. He had been repressing his nature while everything was so serious, but now, it was time for him to come back out. Was that what Doom had meant? Esper had told him what the Houndoom had said when they fought each other. Thomas swore to keep a closer eye on himself. He couldn't let himself get so knotted up like that. It affected his powers, his attitude, his mind, and most imporantly his friends and pokemon. He had to relax, even as things went crazy, or he'd never get anything done right! He felt a lot better now. He even joined in the joking.
"I don't think you're my type Ash. I prefer the ladies that can't kick my teeth in!" he said with a grin.
"It shall be mine!" Amber said. She crouched on her hunches, and leapt straight to the top of the frame. Or, she would have, if her leg had been at top shape. As it stood, she collided with the bedframe headfirst. Dazed and confused, she wrapped one paw around the frame and hung on for dear life. She couldn't see straight, and she could barely think.
"Ow..." she said, still hanging, unable to pull herself up, and uwilling to fall and hurt herself even more. Why did she feel the need to show off like that!?
Ash just grinned. "Zora's nice for me," she said airily, looking arrogantly amused. " In return I get to beat up people who make him unhappy. You are not my type either Thomas. I do not like arrogantly bright boys like you. They are not interesting. And if you like her, now all you have to do is kiss her and-" she paused dramatically. Zaria covered her ears with a squeal.
"I hear nothing," she declared. "I know nothing of what you dream about in your sleep Ash and I will not get involved in your attempts to scar people for life." Arca snorted.
Ash laughed merrily. "Only to torture you lass. And besides you better watch it." She lightly clapped on Thomas' shoulder. "I'm not too friendly with her yet but no breaking young hearts little boy. Or I will send Zora to hunt you down and give you to Mickey as a three course meal."
"Ew Ash, don't boil him." Zaria wrinkled her nose. Another laugh.
"No way, I'll just chain him to the bed and wear Mickey out in a spar. Then lock the door on him and poof. No more evil boyfriend."
"My lady has anyone told you you are insane?" Kira commented, releasing himself. He was dry now.
"Yes and many have said it is contagious," she replied neatly. "They're probably right too. I infected my shadow boy. He used to dislike making people go boom. Now look what I have taught him."
(I swear Ash is like that manipulative older sister you love and get annoyed with. Or somebody with connections. XD)
"You're all insane!" Marcus mumbled. Esper laughed from where he was sitting in the hallway.
"Hah! I don't know if I would want to go one on one with Zoran again, but I could take Mickey, even chained to the bed. Then who would go in and clean up the mess? And where that first line of thought was going is not suitable for young ears!" Thomas said with a laugh.
"You mean me?" Marcus asked uncertainly.
"I mean me! I don't what you cooked up in there, but I know it's not very pretty!" Thomas said, still laughing. He then heard a loud thud followed by a yowl of pain. He tried to get up, but his legs were like jelly. Esper ran into the other room.
"It's Amber! She was trying to show off and hit her head," Esper said calmly. Thomas swore under his breath.
"I swear she does this on purpose!" Thomas muttered.
"She's a child. A very hyper child. You know how children are. And besides, she'll be alright. No brain damage or broken bones. Just a very large knot is forming on her head. Can someone get me some ice?" Esper said calmly. Thomas relaxed. Esper knew what he was talking about in that regard. He sighed and shook his head, laughing a little at the absurdity of all of this.
