The Children Are Hunted

Waiting Out the Storm (Figured I'd post something...)

Garet sighed as he walked into the tech section. Agatha had requested to see him once he was done with learning something new in the CM section. At least there hadn't too much trouble over how sidetracked he and Trigger had gotten, partly because he'd been able to capture Clair. As far as he could tell, Agatha hadn't rescinded his mission or given him a different one. The Arcanine was still free to go after Leo and the CT. Once this storm was over, that is.

When he asked after the Elekid, Garet was directed to the hangar, where he found several Pokemon and humans working on Leo's plane. He found the Elekid inside, directing members of his tech team from the middle section of the plane. "How's everything going?" Garet asked, lying down next to the wall.

"We're almost done," the Elekid answered, glancing at the screen that was being replaced. "The damaged wiring is in the final stages of being fixed or replaced, and we have found no other damage. But, uh..." He glanced over at a Rattata who was waiting in one corner. "There is someone who's wanted to talk to you about something."

Garet looked over at the Rattata, who nodded at him before getting up and running out of the plane. The Arcanine stood up and followed the Rattata to a section of the hangar that was partially hidden from view. "This is Leo SkyHigh's custom RDM plane, is it not?" the rodent asked, looking up at Garet. After he nodded, the Rattata continued, "I work with a Mapmaker, whom SkyHigh requested a certain map from. I was sent here to get it back, as it appears that he is done with it. I have not found it, though. Would you know anything of it?"

"I haven't seen Leo break out any maps recently," Garet answered, frowning. "Someone did get into the plane's compartment while our attention was elsewhere."

The Rattata squeaked in alarm. "This is bad, this is bad, oh my, oh my, this is bad," she chattered to herself, running off to some other part of the base.

What had that been about? Garet shook his head. What sort of missing map would cause that sort of reaction? And how long before this storm ends?

(OOC: Of course it's not a good time for Vulpix to have trust issues. That's why he's having them. XD)

Mia went back to check on that boy Tony. Something about him bothered her. But, she couldn't put her finger on it. And those shadow things the two of them had seen earlier. What were they up to? She carried Delcatty into the back room, stopping as she noticed Robby stretching out his arms and yawning. She ignored him and went into the room Tony was in.

Robby glanced at Mia as she walked past. He looked down into the back room, where she was nursing an injured Delcatty and a boy that looked a little like her. He shrugged and walked into the living room of the RV where most everyone was gathered. The first thing that was noticed was that Zoran and Mickey were gone. Asha was cleaning up some glass on the ground, and the couch was flithy. He looked at Thomas and his cousin. Both of them were being hit by backlash, though Marcus's was fading a little. Zaria was unconcious, or whatever passed for that when you were a ghost. And last but not least, Alyss's hair and feathers had turned black. Robby smiled, amused as he pieced together what had happened.
"Asha, Zor and Mickey out to finish what Mickey and I started?" he asked with a smile on his face. Thomas glanced up at him with blind eyes. For someone so motivated by sight, how did he deal with the backlash of not being able to see? Well, he was weird. Robby hated the paralysis of his backlash, but he wasn't about to complain about it. It was better than Alyss or Mickey, that's for sure. He spotted Vulpix laying in the corner by himself. Was there something bugging him? His expression was a little sour. Whatever, he'd get over it. He felt Esper purring in his mind and reached out to pet the pink cat.

"I can't make him leave on his own!" Winny said. Trigger sighed and shook his head. Stupid stubborn child!
"Van, always the stubborn one. Block headed fool!" Trigger said.
"Oh come on, you know you love him! That's why you want him back!" Winny said.
"I suppose you're right. We'll just have to try something drastic. That's all," Trigger said.
"What are you going to do?" Winny asked.
"I'm going to fly out and try to talk with him in a while. You are going to go to him now. Ease his mind. We'll meet up again soon," Trigger said. His feathers were finally dry. He folded his wings back up. He had just been in a very exposed postion. The only people that had ever, and would ever, seen him like that were Winny and Van. Those two were quite a team together. Winny nodded and left the room. Trigger stood up.
"What right have I to tamper with their lives?" he asked the world in general before flapping off to find a perch where he could watch the storm. A few moments later, he spotted a blue shape running through the streets. He vaguely wondered if Garet had left yet. Probably not. His plane was most likely not done yet, and even if it was, he would not be able to take off in this storm. Trigger hoped it would end soon.

Ash smiled faintly at him and cleaned the couch off so Robby could sit down. "Basically." Alyss nodded at him, stretching her wings out and then pulling them back. "The rain should be clearing up soon," the Aura user said quietly, opening the curtains to see the rain slowing down. "Are you feeling better Robby?"

Zoran twitched slightly, a cold little grin on hi face. They had reached an abandoned three story building not far from city limits. "Abandoned lab," Zoran stated.

"How d'ya figure?" Mickey inquired. His friend pointed at the top, where the faded edges of a sunrise could be seen painted on. "Wow, makes you think of a day care."

"Was the idea," Zora deadpanned, kicking the door down. The lights were on and Bryan was standing there with wide, hollow black eyes.

"Figured you'd come," he whispered, a vile grin on his face. "You can't stand other people getting hurt for your sake. You can't stand letting someone go unpunished. You're so noble."

The other two snorted. "I think you're confusing me with someone else Bryan," Zoran told him pleasantly, stepping forward. "I'm very selfish and I'm definitely not noble." The brightly lit room made a dark shadow and Zoran kept walking forward. "But I don't like needless pain or annoyances like you. So..." He smiled kindly, eyes turning pitch black. "Let's make this as quick and painful as we can, shall we?"

Bryan snarled. "You will pay for back then! I'll kill you and this damned curse will be gone!" Fire engulfed the younger male and for a moment, it seemed over. Then the fire was gone and the boy was behind Bryan, knocking him to the ground and stomping on his throat. Bryan rolled and released another blaze. Zoran flipped back and Mickey took over, going for a physical assault.

"Yeah! I'm feeling pretty good. And I bet Zor will get it taken care of no problem," Robby said as he sat down.Thomas nodded in agreement. Vulpix and Esper perked their heads up at the same time.
"Van! It's me! Let me in! I want to talk to you!" Winny cried out mentally.
"Winny? What do you want?" Esper asked sounding friendly.
"I want to talk with Van! Let me in before I frezze to death!" Winny replied. Great, this was the last thing they needed right now.
"Winny? Winny's out there? Bring her in here! We can't let her stay out in the rain!" Vulpix said.

Ash shrugged. She gestured to Ness, who teleported the Wynaut in. The girl saw the Pokemon curiously and held up a towel, wanting to know if she wanted to use it. Alyss looked between Vulpix and Winny, her eyes wary. Then she walked out of the room, heading to the bedroom.

~

Zoran walked past the fight, knowing Mickey had Bryan completely distracted. He paused suddenly outside a door and smiled. "Are you trying to scare me, ma'am?"

There was a snort as the woman made her way down to the end of the hall. "I'm trying to kill you." In her hand was a handgun, her finger on the trigger.

"Well it hasn't worked," he told her pleasantly. "It didn't back in Idaho when I first left. You were the AAPM agent weren't you?"

"Of course," she shot back. "You think I would let you leave without being in a body bag?"

"I love you too," he told her innocently. "Is Mickey so far corrupted that you would kill him too?"

"I don't need him anymore," she said simply. Zoran's smile widened and black tendrils moved from his shadow and toward the woman.

"That's perfect ma'am because..." they caught her shadow and she began to sink. "He doesn't need you either. Don't worry," he told her. "We'll make sure Cerise and Tammy are okay. So just die peacefully okay?" The woman snorted once and a Marowak leapt from behind Zoran, only to be caught by Cody. Zoran paused. "One last fight?" He let her back up. "Okay!" The two Pokemon began to clash.

"Thanks! And thank you for the towel!" Winny said as she took the towel and dried herself off.
"Winny! It's so good to see you! What have you been doing since we met in Stonehenge?" Vulpix asked. Winny glanced at Alyss curiously. Didn't she have white hair last time they met?
"You mean since you and that Glaceon got your butts kicked trying to save my life? Not a whole lot. I'm just hanging out in Venice until someone can ship me to my newest location. Helping the boss out with a few things, you know how it is!" she said. Vulpix sighed. There was only one person she called boss. Trigger.
"Trigger is after us," Vulpix said softly.
"I know Van. That's kind of why I'm here. He says he wants to talk. I think you should hear what he has to say. He doesn't want to fight you guys any more than I do," Winny said. Vulpix looked at her strangely. Trigger wanted to talk? About what? If it was about the map, then he could forget it! Winny looked at her friend. She tried to read his mind, but was blocked by something. She looked over and saw Esper glaring at her.
"Please refrain from trying that again. I would hate to be responsible for melting your mind," Esper said directly to her.
"Hah! As if you could! But fine, I'll stop," Winny said as she tightened up her own mental shields. Esper was very powerful. He had detected her own abilities. She'd have to remember that. But, maybe if she turned everyone against her, in the state Van was in, he might see it as an attack on himself. They already didn't trust her. Maybe she could work that in her favor. Esper, meanwhile, told Ash and Thomas about Winny's attempt to read Vulpix. He was unaware that was exactly what she wanted.

(OOC: Esper ain't perfect!)

Ash shook her head innocently. "You're welcome," she cracked merrily, getting up to get some sliced fruit from the fridge. "Anybody hungry?" She may not trust the new intruder in their little home but she had to treat them politely. Even she knew basic manners. It would take a lot before she would give up on going through the motions and simply kicking butt. Alyss raised her hand shyly. She was mostly playing along but she was also a little hungry. Ash grinned and placed the fruit plate on the ground after tossing Alyss a banana. Arca leapt over the girl's head, stole an apple slice and returned with two apple slices. She offered on to the baby on Alyss' lap, who happily took it.

Zanna watched Winny from nearby with narrowed, angry eyes. She had a natural dislike of psychic types barring the few she now knew and trusted. Most of the ones she had met were snotty and rude, acting as though her type was nothing but ugly, savage brutes or something. Honestly they had no sense of humor!

(Nope. But Winny will have to do better than that.)

"Oh, you really don't mind? Thanks, I haven't eaten all day. You know Van, that stunt with the plane and all, it's really sent everyone in the base into a tizzy. I had to get out of there for a while. They were driving me crazy. Then Trigger got back and told me that maybe I should come hang out with you for a while. I think he saw what was going on and didn't want me to be a part of it. By the way, just out of curiousity, but why did you mess up the plane?" Winny asked. She picked up a little anomosity coming from the Zorua. So, she had a problem with psychic types did she? Well, Winny couldn't blame her. Most psychic types looked down on dark types. She had no problem with them. A few of her best friends were dark types. But, best not to let them know that. Winny glanced at the dark fox, before looking away. She tried her best to send out disdain for the little fox, wishing she were a better empath. Esper definately picked it up, and his eyes narrowed.

"I'm the one that messed up the plane. If your buddy the white Arcanine had gotten a whiff of me before I threw him a few hundred feet, he would have been able to tell you about that," Esper said. He wasn't enjoying this at all. How had Vulpix been friends with her? She was arrogant and obnoxious. Come to think of it, people that didn't like Thomas had said the same thing about him. Maybe he just had to give her a chance. Vulpix was looking around at them all. He wasn't quite sure what to do. Winny was his best friend, but everyone was forcing themselves to be polite. You could cut the tension with a knife. Thomas tried again, and found a piece of smashed apple fall on top of his head.

"Oh bother," he said. He stood up and went to the bathroom to wash it out of his hair. Winny looked at him oddly. Time to make the espeon so mad he would want to kill her.
"He always suck that much?" she asked Vulpix. Yup, she could feel Esper's rage. To his credit, he said nothing.
"He's just now learned he could do that. You haven't seen some of the other stuff he could do yet," Vulpix said carefully. Winny just nodded as if in deep thought.

Zanna didn't feel the animosity from Winny, being immune to that sort of thing. She simply walked up to her, nodded, and went over to Alyss, gently trying to attract the attention of the Cyndaquil. Cinder reacted by trying to grab at the large creature's paw and missing. Alyss giggled at them, pretending to ignore the tension in the air. Zaria had woken now and was staring blankly at them all. Hearing the Wynaut, she merely rolled her eyes and floated over to Alyss.

Ash nodded. "You're welcome. And hey, everybody has an off day. This could be his that's all." She was feeling strangely calm right now. Why...? She thought about Zoran a moment and grinned. Oh... that woman was getting what she deserved. That's a very good reason to be happy.

Winny knew that it was kind of working. Almost everyone in the room was angery at her, or ignoring her. Except for Van, who was oblivious to what she was doing, thank Arceus! And that blind woman. She seemed absurdly happy about something.
"I was about to ask why you're so happy. But, I think I understand. You're enjoying my predicament. You think it's funny that I have to come here and ask for your help to make everything better. You humans are so typical. Oh well, I'll have to go back to base and tell Trigger I failed to retrieve what you thieves took. Then he'll have to report it to Agatha. I just hope she doesn't nail me to the wall or something. But then, it's not like you care, is it. You would probably get a kick out of watching that old hag. I don't see why you hang out with them Van. I really don't. I won't take up any more of your time. Bye," she said. She teleported out of the RV. She began to walk back to base. Things had gone pretty well. She had planted enough doubt in Van's mind that he would believe her and not them. And she may have made that blind woman mad enough to come after her. That was a scary thought! But, she was rather pleased that the rain was starting to break up. She loved the sunshine! This day was getting better and better! Soon, she would have her Van back!

Thomas stood in the doorway. He could feel Esper's anger, and he had heard what Winny said. He wasn't mad at her. Not too much.
"Um... What just happened?" Thomas asked, baffled by this whole turn of events. Vulpix lay his head down. He wanted to go chase after her, and say sorry for his friends. But, he didn't know that they were sorry. Thomas was right. What had just happened? Winny was a powerful psychic. She could read minds very well. Had she read Ash's mind and found that was what it held? Vulpix couldn't be sure. He had never known Winny to lie. And he had seen that Ash had a blood-thirsty streak in her. But, Ash being pointlessly cruel? Was that too much of a stretch?

Ash blinked, leaving Zoran's aura abruptly to let him concentrate. "Uh... what was she talking about?"

Alyss supplied. "Your evil grin."

Ash facepalmed. "Oh that. Zoran's taking care of something for me or rather, someone." She cackled. "Auntie's getting what she deserves. And Bryan's next." Zaria heard this and nodded.

"Woman deserves hell," she muttered. Ash turned to Vulpix, looking apologetic.

"I must have given your friend the wrong idea," she said contritely. "I'm honestly sorry." Ash was very proud but if she screwed up, she would take the heat and say she messed up. "My hatred of that woman is kind of strong. It must have come off as sadistic pleasure for Winny. I didn't mean for that to happen. Do you want me to go after her and apologize?" Ash would. Misunderstandings were one of those things she did not like.

Vulpix sighed and shook his head.
"She's probably long gone by now," he said. And that was true. Winny had teleported back to the base just a moment ago. He wasn't too sure. He had seen far too many humans lie with a straight face before. But this was Ash! He couldn't recall the last time he had ever heard her lie, ever! Well, it was a crazy thought, but what if they all had lied to him. He shoved that thought aside. It was crazy. Vulpix got up and began to pace around. He walked to the back room and found Mia had fallen asleep. He saw the map.

"I'm done! I'm not doing this anymore! I can't just lie to him like that! And those are good people! Trigger, I don't care if you report me to Agatha for insubordination! I'm through!" Winny said angrily as she walked in the room. Trigger turned to look at her.
"That's fine. You did well. Van is on his way here, now," Trigger said. He was out of breath. He had just been flying, and had arrived scant seconds before Winny had. Winny looked him over, and nodded as a Riolu entered the room. Winny looked at him questioningly.
"They have an Aura sensor," was Trigger's explaination.

Thomas heard the crash in the back room, which was soon followed by Mia's shriek.
"That little rat!" she yelled. Thomas and Marcus ran into the room. Mia was sitting up, picking glass out of her hair. The back window had been broken. Vulpix was no where in sight.
"Mia! What the heck happened?" Thomas asked.
"I had fallen asleep, but I woke up when Vulpix jumped through the window! He scared me half to death!" she said. What was that fox thinking?!
"I can't sense him. He's got something shielding him from me," Esper said.
"Guys, he took the map," Mia said.
"Why the hell did he have to pick now to do this!?" Thomas said angrily.

Van ran as fast as he could. What the heck was he doing? Those were his friends back there! He shook his head. How could they be his friends? They were humans! But, they were his friends! Van was a confused and scared little vulpix. He stopped a moment. The map was still in his mouth.
"This is all your fault!" he yelled at it. He threw it angrily into the mud. Its plastic cover making it stay safe. He kept running, still using the mental shielding trick Winny had taught him.

Ash sighed. Then she felt it:an opposing Aura. She cursed. "Okay this be seriously annoying now. I'm being blocked by a Pokemon. Ow. Now I can't see jack." She sat down, rubbing her eyes reflexively. Alyss sighed.

"He's really confused," she said softly. "And really scared. You don't need to see into his head to know that. We need to help him.So..." she opened the door and stepped out. "I'll go ahead: you guys should follow at a distance just to be safe." Cinder returned to his Pokeball as Zanna did. Arca really didn't want to do this. They might have to fight Vulpix. And that would not be fun. Without waiting for the others to answer, Alyss too off, bursting into the air and hurrying ahead. Zaria flew behind her. Her hazel eyes were deeply troubled.

"Blocked by a pokemon? Things just got a lot worse! Robby! Mia! You two stay here in case trouble comes knocking. Ash may not be able to deal with it by herself in the state she's in. Marcus, let's go see if we can find our little lost puppy!" Thomas said. He and Marcus walked out of the RV. Thomas looked around.
"It's all muddy and wet. Tracking his scent is going to be that much harder," Esper said.

"Ok, he has the map, so he knows we'll be after him using whatever twisted logic they put into his head. We already know he's an expert tracker. He knows every trick in the book to throw off pursuit. He also knows what he's up against. Whoever is responsible for this has taken out Ash, the one person he wouldn't have been able to escape. But, they didn't know about my light vision. I hope. Maybe, I can follow him with that. And as for Alyss, she's not going to want to fly anywhere near the city, so that would be the first place he went. But... Razor! Go find Vulpix and don't let him out of your sight!" Thomas said. He sent out Razor and she took off the same direction Alyss had gone. Thomas then called out Volt. Amber walked up to join him as well. Good. Marcus saw what he was doing.
"Poochyena! Come help us sniff out Vulpix!" Marcus said. The two trainers then began following the dog, the half-dog-half-cat, and the cat after their missing and messed up friend. Esper put himself in contact with Ash so he could keep her updated on what was going on.

Van saw a shadow as he ran. He stopped and dropped the the ground. He hated doing it, but he had long since rolled in the mud, getting it on every inch of himself. The red vulpix was now the same dull shade of brown that everything else was. In addition, it would remove his scent, so he couldn't be tracked that way either. He watched carefully as the shaodw flying over him circled again. It was probably Alyss. Maybe Razor. All they would see from that high up was mud. He waited until they left before continuing. If it was Alyss, he was confident that she would give up and land when he reached the city. So he kept going, keeping a wary eye on the sky, and dropping flat when he so much as thought he saw something.

Alyss was, unknowingly, far ahead of Vulpix. In truth she would let the others track him, which was what Zaria was doing right now. Vulpix knew how to throw off living pursuit but Zaria had been tracking all kinds of creatures since she was a toddler. She could feel him and was following in silence, closing her existence off to the young fox. Alyss soared up, listening quietly. "Ash..." she mumbled softly, touching down on the roof. "Ready." She knew it was best to let Vulpix eventually lower his guard. Besides, if the fox thought she would have to land because he was in the city, he was really not as smart as she gave him credit for. Rooftop jumping was unusual but people did it all the time. What was stopping her?

Ash sat quietly. It wasn't that she couldn't track Vulpix; she just knew it was best not to get involved. She could sense the fox from here, like with Thomas earlier, just couldn't see him. No, there would already be almost too many people doing this and Alyss needed her as command just in case.

(OOC: Van was right. She did have to land! Jumping from rooftop to rofftop is not the same as flying over the city.)

Van slipped easily into the city. He didn't know what he planned to do. But he couldn't just stay here. He spotted Alyss on a rooftop. He had underestimated her. That wouldn't happen again. She didn't seem to be interested in looking for him. Just as well. She didn't seem to like him too much anyway. He slipped quietly into the sewer. There were planty of pokemon down there. So, no matter what they did, they would not be able to find him. Now, he had to think of what he was going to do. He started walking around down there. He had no idea where he was going. Soon, he came to a halt. Standing before him was Winny.
"Hiya Van! Need a hand?" she asked. Van looked at her a moment. No matter what evryone else did, he could always trust her.
"Why not," he said quietly. Winny nodded, and looked around, her eyes glowing. She turned to the ghost that was following Van, and could guess who it was.
"Please leave. I'll take care of Van. I really don't want to fight you, but I can't allow you to follow him. Please, you must understand. He doesn't belong with you. He deserves to be free. As the rest of us do. So, please do as I ask," Winny said to the ghost. Van had no idea it had been there, and Winny hoped it was reasonable. She didn't want to have to destroy it. She was in enough trouble as it was!

"What's wrong boy?" Marcus asked. Poochyena and the others had lost Vulpix's trail. Thomas walked over and pulled a plastic case out of the mud. He opened it up. Inside was paper.
"Marcus, I need your eyes. What did I just find?" he asked.
"The map. Our pokemon have lost his trail," Marcus said. Volt and Amber meowed and growled sadly.
"Great. I figured that would happen," Thomas said. Razor landed nearby. She cooed softly.
"Razor says he's taken shelter in a sewer, and she can't follow him," Esper said. Thomas swore.
"Just what in the hell is going on here!? He runs off with the map, then droppes it in the mud. Just what is he thinking?" Marcus said angrily. Thomas was taken aback by the sound of him swearing.
"That's just it. He's not thinking. Not with his head. He's acting on instinct, and Vulpix are timid by nature, most of the time. No amount of training can change that. But, his training can make it easier for him," Thomas said.
"We'll never find him!" Marcus moaned.
"I'm not giving up. I have to find him. He needs to know that we're still his friends!" Thomas said. He climbed on Razor and returned Volt and Amber. Esper leapt up to his shoulder. It got Thomas's shirt very muddy, but that was fine. Thomas had more important things on his mind.
"You coming?" he asked. Marcus nodded and climbed up after him.

(Alyss is eight. She's smart but doesn't think that well.)

Zaria gave Winny a quiet look of annoyance. "So you're just going to force him back to you without any regard to his feelings? Are you implying we brainwashed him, like you did? We gave him choices. He didn't have to stay with us but he chose to!" Her gaze suddenly burned. "We were not going to capture him without permission. And why does being in a Pokeball make a Pokemon enslaved huh? You people, RDM or AAPM, you're so high and mighty, think what you're doing is right!" She shook her head furiously. "That's a lie! You've broken good, healthy bonds with each other, both groups! THat man may be a nut job but even he's better than you! We get freedom from him. All we get from you are chains you hypocritical jerks!" She shook her head and turned away. "I'm going to give him a choice again. You let him think and decide whether he wants to be our friend or not. You let him choose his kind of freedom because I know you're the one who hurt him like this. Some friends." She floated back to stand a few feet away.

"You shouldn't destroy her," remarked Kira's soft voice. He dropped down to the ground and stared quietly down at Winny and Vulpix. "You will lose the value of a CT if you do that. And Vulpix, I doubt this will sway you either way but Alyss is doing as Ash asked her. She is worried about you; she just knows her presence isn't as important as everybody else's."

Winny opened her mouth to retort, but found she had no answer. How could she? This ghost was right! Winny had manipulated the whole situation! She felt horrible, but she still didn't believe that these humans had Van's best interest at heart. But, did she? What right did she have to toy with him like that? Van was looking back and forth from Zaria to Winny.
"Winny? What's she talking about?" Van asked. He got hit with a powerful Mud Slap, and was knocked out. Trigger floated to the ground in front of him. He gazed at Kira and Zaria.
"Do not blame Winny for this. It's not her fault. But I will not permit this to go any farther. Winny, take Van and return to base. When he wakes up, if he wants to leave, let him. And as for you, ghost, what makes you say that? All we are fighting for is our freedom. Van deserves better than what either of us can offer him. He deserves peace, something that we can not grant. Not while we are fighting for different things. Van always had a choice. He still does. If he wants to return to you, he shall. If he wants to remain with us, he shall. But there is another option. I will not inform you what it is, but there is one. Now, I have a great deal of things to attend to. Until we meet again," Trigger said. Winny had already teleported back to base with the unconcious Van. Trigger flew away down the sewers.

Razor landed in the city. Thomas and Marcus jumped off her back. He returned Razor.
"Now what?" Marcus asked.
"Now, I'm going down there to look for him," Thomas replied.
"In the sewer?!" Marcus asked.
"Yup," Thomas rplied grimly. Esper pulled up the manhole cover, and Thomas descended down the ladder. It really didn't smell as bad as he thought. Esper leapt down after him when he reached the bottom.
"Err... I'm going to stay up here, in case he comes back out," Marcus said. Thomas shrugged.
"Suit yourself. Just make sure the shower is clear when I get back. I don't want to have to wait for it," Thomas said.
"I'll take care of it!" Marcus said. Thomas grinned up at him.
"And there better be some hot water too!" Thomas said. He began walking down the sewer, with Esper trotting along behind him.

Zaria heard Thomas and snorted to herself, throwing a thought at Trigger. "Peace will never exist, not as long as any evil exists. That's just how it is. I thought someone as wise as you would have known that. All there is is a temporary respite. And you're fighting for freedom but does that mean you take those who are free and make them something else, your kind of free? Once again, I realize I don't understand the minds of adults."

Kira glanced at the boy as he came down. Terrible timing.

(OOC: Thomas didn't come down near Zaria and Kira. I have other things planned for him.)

"So naive. But then again, you would be. Why are our battles held on the backs of children?" Trigger said as he flew away. Winny appeared and teleported him back to the base. He went to check on Van. He was still knocked out. There was a Chancy looking after him.
"He's a little roughed up, but he'll be alright!" she said.
"Good. I've got a few questions for him, but that can wait," Trigger said. Van didn't seem to have what was stolen. But he would tell him what he took and why. After that, Trigger would see to it that he went wherever he wanted. If that was back to the RDM, that was fine. If it was to those humans that seemed to care for him, that would be fine too. But Trigger hoped he would choose to go far away and leave all the fighting behind. Tigger couldn't though. He still had a job to do. He wondered vaguely if Garet had left yet. He would be very eager to find his partner. But, he would probably like to be informed that they had found Van. Trigger took off again, flying to the hanger.
