The Children Are Hunted

Oh, snap, this just got harder.

Garet watched as the Dratini became a Dragonair. This dragon's gonna put up a good fight, he thought to himself, eyeing the Aqua Tail. That thing was going to be one of the biggest problems in this battle, considering that the dragon had just grown longer. Another one of those problems would be whatever strategy these humans came up with.

It seemed that the Dragonair was under Clair's command. Unless they had other Pokemon with them, the Dragonair was the only thing standing between him and getting at Clair. As long as that Cyndaquil was out of the fight, anyways.

"Save your chatter for later," Garet growled at the boy. Breathing in again, the Arcanine loosed another Flamethrower, this time directed at the Dragonair's head.

Ash sat in the white room, staring at the opposite bed where Zoran lay. His breathing was ragged and slow. They had been here for the past few hours, after Theo had explained the poison had to take its course over the next few days. The Pokemon were in various areas of the room. Kira and Riley were guarding the door as Sparx was curled underneath the window. Doom was next to Zoran on the bed.

"We did the right thing right?" Zaria asked softly.

Ash-Asha now-, nodded. "There are lots of kids here, or there will be. They'll be confused and scared and not sure what to do. We'll have to help them."

Zor agreed softly. "Thomas will be all right. He didn't need us around."

Zaria nodded and paused a moment."Esper just told me Thomas will be okay and we can call on him whenever."

"'Kay..." Asha smiled wanly. "Tha's good. Well, we have five days to kill. Be ready Pokemon, we're going t' be working your butts off tomorrow." There were various cries of assent. None of them wanted to be here but Theo had given them no choice. "We'll see those two again soon, tha's for sure. Sooner than we like I bet. Also... Marcus had a little secret I'm thinkin'. He felt odd."

"Felt that way since we met 'em," Zor agreed with a strange, placid smile. "Lessee what happens."

Thomas had decided to invest some serious time into training his pokemon before the next gym. Especially Deluge, who would be key to winning in the next battle, and Amber, who seriously needed it. He would also be training himself, just in case his sight never came back. Marcus had said he would join in the training as well. And Vulpix? He would be the target. Vulpix was a lot tougher than any one of Thomas's pokemon, and he knew it. So he had rather reluctently agreed to help them get stronger. Thomas leaned backas they flew. Razor was taking them to a secluded spot to begin training. Marcus was in front of him, hanging on for dear life. Vulpix was asleep on top of the cast on Thomas's broken arm. Thank godness Deena had put that sling there, or it would have hurt like hell trying to hold it still for Vulpix. The group finally landed. Thomas called out Amber and got down from Razor's back.
"You sure you want to do this? I fight rough!" Vulpix asked.
"That's why I want to do it!" Thomas said. He handed Esper's ball to Marcus. Esper would be training up Marcus's pokemon.
"Alright, let's go!" Thomas said. And thus the training began.

(OOC: I'm not through all the details of the training. But it won't be over after a few posts either. I'll throw some things in there to mix it up as well.)

Theo looked down at the files and smiled quietly. He was in his base in Atlanta. Asha and Zora, his two best returned children. They owed plenty to him and children as innocent at that were always loyal. Those two were perfect for right now, but at the moment, there was someone else who needed to get involved. He pressed a button his intercom and hummed. "Yes, could you send Alyss from room 126? Thank you." He waited for a few moments, typing at his computer. The door opened to reveal a little white haired girl with a Zorua on her head. Her watery blue eyes were very pale and she was looking down in soft fear.

As she timidly walked up to him, Theo smiled and reached out to hug her. "Hello my dear Alyss. Did you see who is here?"

She nodded softly. "Brother Zora's back."

"That's right and you've missed him haven't you?"

She nodded again. "He was nice to me. But he's hurt now. Who did it?"

"Those bad men, the ones who want to separate us all."

"Why?" Alyss asked softly, eyes full of tears. "It's not fair; I like Zanna! And I was born like this! I want to live too!"

Theo patted her head. "I know child. I know. So knowing this, will you help me?"

Alyss nodded, tiny fists clenched tight. "I'll help!"

"Good girl," he praised. "Now listen close: I want you to go to Stonehenge and find the children fighting there. I want you to stay with them until Zora retrieves you understand? If they yell at you or hurt you you are allowed to strike back remember? Just don't kill them. Just stay with them child, you understand?" Alyss nodded.

"Good girl, take your Pokemon and do what the children ask of you. But do not trust them for they could betray you. Do not trust them for they could hurt you like they hurt Zora and Asha okay."

Alyss smiled. "I only trust the people here!"

Theo smiled and led her to the window. "That's right lass because we in the Dawn Project..."

"Are different people but we all understand one another." The girl recited as she jumped out the window. As she fell, the wind blew and she disappeared.

The man chuckled. "Don't worry Zari, I am keeping my promise. I just want to have a little fun. After all, it's that boy's choice what he will do, isn't it?" Zaria nodded silently. "Get some rest child. You all need it." Zaria floated away obediently.

They had been training for hours. Thomas was starting to get a hang of not being able to see. His other senses were begining to make up for the difficency. Vulpix was very fussy. It had been a long day for him too. He had taken a turn with all of Thomas's pokemon today, but mostly trained with Amber. Marcus had brought a book about basic first aid, and Esper immediatly annexed it. He was reading it, not for his sake, but for Thomas, sending him the information until Thomas could repeat it backwards. He was slowly learning how to mend cuts and muscle sprains. Very mild injuries, but it would be better than nothing. They had no Deena around anymore to patch them up. So he would have to learn, because he had no money for a doctor. He was also trying to get better control of his powers. He was getting better at calling it and dismissing it, but still was afraid to try and make it do anything right now. Marcus had gotten a fire going, and was cooking the meat that Volt had hunted for them. They heard a noise in the woods. Thomas got up. His finely honed sense of hearing told him that some people were laughing at something. He walked out to see what it was.
"Hahaha! Hit it again!" someone said. He sounded older than Thomas, but only by a few years. Thomas heard the sound of something being kicked.
"Bagon!" it cried, more from fear than pain.
"Look at it! Stupid thing won't even do anything!" another voice said. Thomas was about to go teach them a lesson, when he heard another voice.
"If he won't then I will!" a commanding, yet slightly obnoxious voice cried out.
"Who are you!?" the first voice said.
"I am the one that stalks the shadows! I am the one that hunts the evildoers! I am The Great Pokemaster!" he said. The others laughed at him.
"Get him!" the first one said. Esper sent him an image of what The Great Pokemaster looked like. He was dressed in what appeared to be skintight pajamas that were all black. They had a P stitched on the chest, that was slightly crooked. A long bath towel, also black, was pinned to his shoulders as a cape. He was wearing what looked to be a toy race car helmet on his head. Thomas fought down the urge to laugh at this vigilante. The two grunts had sent out their pokemon.
"Go Cacnea!" the first one said.
"Trapinch, lets teach this moron a lesson!" the second one said. Enough was enough. Thomas wasn't about to let this idiot get beaten black and blue.
"Wait, what?!" TGP asked sounding scared now. Thomas sighed and walked out into the light. Esper was next to him.
"Why don't you guys fight me?" Thomas said. He needed to let off some steam.
"Uh... That's right Pokeboy! I don't even need to waste my time with these bufoons!" TGP said.
"What are you suppoed to be, his sidekick?" the second one asked.
"No, just a guy that doesn't like it when pokemon and fools get hurt, and this guy is a major fool!" Thomas said. TGP looked at him, then recoiled in shock.
"You're blind! How will you be able to battle!?" he asked.
"Well, there are two of them and two of us. I'll only have to worry about one if you send out your pokemon! And I know how to battle! It's in my blood!" Thomas said with pride.
"But... I don't have any pokemon," TGP mumbled. Thomas would have slapped him.
"That morons no threat. Get the kid!" the first goon said. Thomas sighed to himself. Amber walked out to find Thomas.
"Eevee?" she asked.
"Good, this evens things up a bit. Esper! Amber! Let's take care of these guys!" Thomas said. A few seconds later, after one attack from each of his pokemon actually, the goons ran off. Thomas walked toward TGP.
"What in the heel were ya thinkin!? Thomas yelled, his accent coming out thick.
"I... I was going to be a hero," TGP said woth shame in his voice.
"Ya great ijit! Ya could have been hurt!" Thomas roared. Esper meowed at him. Thomas turned back. Esper showed him that they had been torturing a Bagon.
"Don't be scared... We won't hurt ya, I promise!" Thomas said in his slow, and calming drawl.
"Oh thank heavens-" TGP began.
"I still haven't decided 'bout you yet!" Thomas said.
"What's going on?" Marcus said. Vulpix had come too, and burst out laughing at the outfit TGP had on.
"What are you supposed to be!?" he managed between laughs. Thomas explained to them what had just went on. Marcus's face turned into a scowl.
"Aw... You're just mad cause you didn't think of it first!" Vulpix said with a laugh. Thomas gestured rudely at the fox. Thomas cradled the Bagon, whispering soothing words to it. He even called on his powers to help calm it, bathing himself and it in a radient and peaceful light. The Bagon fell asleep, and Thomas let the power fade.
"How- What was that?!" TGP asked. Thomas rolled his eyes.
"You explain, if you want to, Marcus. I'm going to get this little one back to camp," Thomas said.
"Camp? Do you mind if I share your camp? I don't want to sleep out here by myself!" TGP said sounding slightly scared. Thomas sighed. It was going to be a long night.

(OOC: I knew you wouldn't leave me to my own devices for long! And, to let you know, I had a lot of fun writing for TGP. Made me laugh!)

(XD he was pretty funny.)

Alyss flew sharply, banking left. Her wings hurt. They were wings, just ones that not just anyone could see. Only the ones she believed were trustworthy could and they were deathly silent. Some would call her an angel but all she ever could remember was the voice of her father calling her a demon. His voice... and the voices of Zora, Asha, and Theo. Theo simply considered her another tool and another one of his children, Asha, the blind girl with all-seeing eyes, thought her a sister and a treasure, and had taught her the meaning of love.

But Zora had called her beautiful, a word she hadn't understood. Now after four years of sleep, she did know what it meant, and it made her a happy girl, the happiest in the world. For Zora and Asha, not for Theo, who simply hungered too greatly for her tastes, she would do anything.

Even if that meant dealing with human beings.

That was what they were called: humans, normals, according to Theo. They were a fine race, as Pokemon were, but soon they were going to wipe each other out. And all the different ones, like themselves, would be caught in the crossfire, and that wasn't fair. SO they were going to destroy the armies and bring about the new dawn.

That was what Theo said, even if it wasn't believed, it would happen in some way. The world would change with these three factions.

Alyss felt Zanna's claws sinking slightly into the back. "Will this be all right Alyss?" Alyss held many powers and this was the least of them, to hear voices unheard. Perhaps it had to do with the wind she could control.

"I'll be all right," she told the little Pokemon as the wind lifted her again. It was annoying to fly north in the night, truly. She was a tired child. She couldn't stop though, not until she reached the boy. The eight-year-old continued until she saw the sight of a fire. Who knew the wind could have taken her that far? Perching in a tree, she curled up against the trunk, hearing voices, human and Pokemon alike, down below. Alyss didn't believe she would be sensed, she was too quiet and smelled slightly like the forest already.

(And now you see a brainwashed child.)

(OOC: XD And here we go!)

Thomas walked back to camp. Marcus and Vulpix followed him. Right next to him, was the most annoying person he had ever met. TGP was full into his superhero routine, and Thomas was sick of it.
"You, can I ask you a favor?" Thomas asked irritably.
"Yes, Pokeboy, what is it! For if it is within my power to grant, you shall have it! For I am, The Great Pokemaster!" TGP said.
"First, if you call me that again, I'll rip your eyes out and shove them up your rear, so you can watch as I kick the everlovin' crap oout of you! And what I was trying to ask was if you could shut up so I can take care of this little Bagon!" Thomas said.
"Ten bucks says he can't shut up for one minute!" Marcus said to Vulpix.
"Done!" Vulpix replied. Marcus got out a stop watch. Thomas walked away from the silent second rate sidekick and began to treat the Bagon's injuries. At 1:02 on the stopwatch, TGP spoke up again.
"Pokeboy! Be on your guard! Be powers of supersenses have said an enemy lurks near!" TGP said, causing Thomas to drop the gause he was holding.
"Where's my ten bucks!" Vulpix said after he saw the watch. Marcus gave him the money.
"I swear I'm going to kill him!" Thomas shouted in frustration. He finished what he was doing, and set the Bagon down to rest. He stood up, walked over to TGP and snatched the helmet off of his head. TGP shrieked and pulled it back down.
"PokeBoy! You should know better than to reveal My true identity while our foes are around!" TGP scolded. Thomas was about to shove him as hard as he could, when Esper sent him that there WAS someone in the area.
"Esper says someone's here," Thomas told Marcus and Vulpix, the latter of whom began sniffing around.
"Ahah! Come to try and capture me again?! Never, I say! Come, Pokeboy! We fight!" TGP said.
"Don't bother! It's just a scared little girl up a tree," Vulpix said. He was looking up at her. Thomas walked over to the tree.
"Hey there. Can ya come down? I promise we won't hurt you," Thomas called gently.
"He might," Marcus said quietly, pointing at TGP. Thomas glared at him for a moment, then turned his attention back to the girl.
"My name is Thomas. This is my partner, Esper. And these are my good friends, Marcus and Vulpix," Thomas said.
"And I am The Great Pokemaster!" TGP said with gusto.
"No one asked you!" Marcus said with a sigh.

Alyss stared down at them. That last boy was annoying and not one part of the mission. Should she kill him? No.. they wouldn't want her around then, no matter how he was. They wanted her to come down. Why? Were heights scary? She didn't know. "They said they won't hurt you," Zanna hissed softly. "What a lie. These creatures are destructive, intentionally or otherwise."

Alyss stared down at them. She was scared. She had to look it, but a part of her was calm. She had to do this right. So she ignored Zanna and grabbed the little fox. Without fear, she jumped from the high branch and landed neatly on her feet on the ground. As soon as she was there, she instantly shied away from them all. Being on the ground made her feel helpless, especially against these larger, louder people. Zanna growled at them, glaring ferociously as Alyss curled up into a ball.

(OOC: I think I missed something. Is Zanna fox too, or did she grab Vulpix? For that matter, what is Zanna?)

Marcus gave out a quiet gasp in surprise.
"It's allright. I didn't mean to scare you. If you feel more comfortable in the tree, then go ahead. But I'd like to talk to you. Is that ok with you? Let's start with a name. What's your name?" Thomas said soothingly. He didn't want to frighten her anymore than she clearly was. He'd have to be gentle in how he talked to her. Esper tried to help. He sent her images of peace and friendship. He sent her his feelings kindness and compassion. Thomas sat down far enough away that she wouldn't see him as a threat. Marcus followed his cue and relaxed as well. TGP wasn't on the same page, apparently. He walked up to her and said, "So, who sent you!? Was it the Evil Overload Sockman!? I know it was him!"
"Hey! Uh... Your magnificence! Why don't you go and um... Scout the area! We wouldn't want more agents of darkness around like those two that hurt the Bagon, would we?" Thomas said.
"By jove, Pokeboy, you're right!" TGP said and rushed off into the wilderness. Thomas sighed in relief. vulpix stopped what he had been doing and started laughing.
"Well handled, Pokeboy!" Vulpix said.
"Oh, hush you!" Thomas said. He turned his attention back to the girl and said, "I'm sorry if he frightened you. He frightens me, to tell you the truth.

(Zanna'd be a Zorua and yes she grabbed Zanna from the branch.)

Alyss looked up at him with terrified, dull eyes. She knew how her eyes were, tainted with the acrid taste of fear. She knew they worried many, but Asha and Zora had been so kind about it so she didn't think about it anymore. It would go away eventually... She looked down. Eye contact was bad... She could feel the Psychic trying to soothe her. Could he soothe many years of pain and persecution? Zanna doubted it and the Dark-type fox stepped protectively in front of her, blocking the psychic waves from entering her mind. She growled again. Alyss blinked behind her arms, realizing she had been asked a question. "Alyss..." she answered softly. "My name is Alyss..." Her white dress, almost like a nightshirt, fluttered in the wind and she jumped, disliking the way fabric met feathers. In her exhausted state, it set her every nerve on end.

Heck Yes, Things Just Got Harder! But, for who?

Dragonair tried to send out an attack but was hit with the Flamethrower. She had taken some damage, but, maybe she could still win. She looked at the Arcanine and growled.

"I like this human. She is kind and the boy is too. Why do you fight against us?" she cooed at the fiery dog. She stared at him with endearing eyes. The Dragonair looked at him before sending out an attack of blue Dragonbreath. She aimed low for one of his paws, hoping to slow him down a bit. A successful hit! But, it was too early for celebration. The Arcanine seemed prime for fighting and Volcan wasn't awake yet. Volcan had began to stir.

The two companions looked at each other.

"What do we do?" Clair seemed anxious for any answer.

"If Volcan can just use one Smokescreen...that'll give us enough chance to run inside!"

"Look, if Volcan doesn't come to soon, then you run, okay. I'll hold him off."

"But....no, I won't do it." Mark tried to reason.

"You're a smart kid, you know that either he gets one of use or both of us. He works for the RDM and they'll want you more."

"Fine." Mark was quiet, but he had no intention of running.

"Alyss? That's a nice name. I'm not going to tell you not to be scared. After all, if I was surrounded by people I didn't know, I'd be pretty frightened too. How can I ask you do do something I couldn't? Just know that we won't hurt you... And Esper wants to say he's sorry. He was only trying to be friends, but he thinks your friend Zorua mistook it for an attack. He says he won't do it again, if you don't want him too. Now, it's getting late, and I'm going to sleep. You can stay here if you'd like," Thomas said gently. Marcus was already sound asleep, and Vulpix was following TGP. He returned sooner than desired.
"Pokeboy, I've searched out the area. I've found no signs of the minions of darkness!" TGP said eagerly.
"That's great, your oddness. Now you should get some rest. That battle earlier was difficult, and you need to recover your strength," Thomas mumbled tiredly.
"Right as always, Pokeboy!" TGP said with a yawn. He lay down, rolled over and was asleep in a few moments. Vulpix stared at him.
"Weirdest himan I've ever met! Even more than you and Zor combined!" Vulpix said. Thomas nodded at him, and lay down. Esper was soon laying right next to him, keeping an eye on the two strangers that had entered their camp.
"Guess I'll keep watch? I'm not that sleepy!" Vulpix asked. But Thomas had already fallen asleep. Vulpix sighed. TGP was very irritating to him. That's all he cared about for now. But this girl. She was different. Vulpix felt a little uneasy about her, but not because of her. Just, something wasn't quite right here. He was going to keep his guard up, and find out what it was. But not tonight.

Alyss watched them all fall asleep. That Vulpix was wary. There wasn't any surprise there. People were naturally wary of her anyway. The girl poked her bare feet and shivered softly. Were they pretending to sleep? Could she sleep around these people? Would they beat her while she slept? The questions woke her and she trembled.

"Alyss..." Zanna whispered soothingly. "Alyss... it's all right. I'll protect you from all of them. Just rest for now. I'll keep you safe. I promised, remember?"

The girl smiled weakly. That's right... she had promised. And despite her trickster ways, Zanna kept her promises too. Just like Mister Theo did. Slowly, Alyss uncurled herself to lay on her side. She let her dull blue eyes rest on Vulpix as they closed. Within moments, she had fallen into an uneasy dazed sleep. Zanna walked around before resting by her chest, teal eyes glaring at them all. None of them would touch Alyss, not without her permission.

Thomas woke up rested the next morning. Esper showed him what was going on. To his surprise, he wasn't the first one awake. TGP had woken up and wandered off somewhere. Vulpix was snoozing right on the remaining embers from the fire. Marcus was still sprawled out where he was. Alyss seemed not to have gone anywhere, but her Zorua was glaring at him. Esper was a little upset at it's behavior. It was almost like she didn't trust them.
"Esper, that's the point! She doesn't trust us! And if you were in her position, you'd be doing a look more than glaring at everyone. Now, Volt! I need your help!" Thomas said. The Elektrike came out of his pokeball joyfully. He glanced at the newcomers in the camp before turning his attention to Thomas. He still needed a little work, but he was learning.
"Esper, I need you to go get us some food. While we can still live off the land, I don't want to use up our supplies. Volt, there is a strange and delusional man wandering around here somewhere. I think he won't hurt anyone, but I don't know for sure. That, and he has a tendency to get himself into trouble. As much as I'm going to regret this, could you go bring him back here?" Thomas said. The two pokemon agreed, and ran off into the woods. He sat back down and waited for the rest of them to wake up. He turned to the Zorua.
"And a good morning to you too!" he said cheerfully.

Zanna huffed at him coldly, glaring again. Turning, she placed a gentle paw on Alyss' nose. Alyss jumped awake, flying up into the tree and clinging to the branch. Her blue eyes instantly calmed and she climbed back down. Zanna sighed and shook her head at her. Alyss was so timid most of the time; it was amazing what she could do when she tried though. Alyss looked around now, seeing that boy was gone, as was the Psychic type. Zanna brushed her head against Alyss' hand and pointed at Thomas. She stared at him and twitched shyly, not sure what to say. Zanna walked over to Thomas and nipped his hand, knowing he wouldn't understand her.

"Stop Zanna," Alyss told her with wide eyes. The Zorua obeyed, now assured that the boy would know the girl was awake.

"Ouch! Huh, oh! Good morning! You feeling any better?" Thomas said, a little surprised when the Zorua bit his hand. It wasn't nearly as bad as the time that Vulpix had bit him. He wasn't even bleeding. At that point, esper came back, levitating a rather large amount of fruit. Where had he found all that?
"Good work, Esper! You hungry up there? Cause now we have breakfast!" Thomas said. He lightly tossed a pear at Marcus. It hit him with unerring accuracy, and Thomas was sure Esper had helped out Marcus jerked awake.
"Wha?! I'm awake! Hey, where'd that girl and the pretend superhero go?" Marcus said, taking a bite out of his pear.
"She's up a tree again, and I have no idea what happened to him. Volt is looking for him now," Thomas said. He tossed an apple lightly at Vulpix. Vulpix looked up and caught it in his mouth.
"What, no meat?" Vulpix asked tiredly.
"Nah, when you get a hold of meat, you get disgusting," Thomas said with a grin. The injured Bagon woke up at that point. He tried to stand, and fell. Thomas rushed to his aid.
"Hey now, your still hurt! You need to rest! Here, have a pear," Thomas said picking up the Bagon.
"You, you helped me?" he asked, somewhat incredulous.
"Yeah, of course I helped you! Why wouldn't I?" Thomas said.
"Cause no one ever has before. Those guys, they wouldn't let anyone help. They chase everyone away that tries. You'll see," the Bagon said. Volt walked back into camp, and yowled. A rustling told them all that he was being followed.
"Get back here, you cowardly fiend! I shall slay you where you stand!" TGP said, coming out after him. Volt walked over to Thomas and sat down behind him.
"Try to slay Volt, and you'll end up getting the shock of your life! That's what Volt would do if you tried. So please don't. I don't want to have to nurse your injuries too," Thomas said, his mind still on what Bagon had told him. He looked at the Bagon.
"Well, if you're that worried, then you can join my team. I'll take care of you, I promise!" Thomas said. The bagon looked up at him.
"Really? You'll take me away from here?" he asked.
"As far as you want, I'm sure. So, what do you say?" Thomas said. The bagon nodded, and Thomas snatched the last pokeball Mr. Stevens had given him off of his belt. He used it on the bagon. Then he remembered again.
"Crap! I forgot to ask what to call you! I guess you'll be Draco, because I can't think of anything else," Thomas said. He called Draco out. Draco was still hurt, and needed to let his wounds heal. Volt helped himself to some of the fruit. So did TGP, which thankfully kept him from speaking.

Alyss blinked softly. It was loud again. That boy was back. He seemed unnecessary. But the Electrike seemed nice. Maybe she would talk to their Pokemon first. There was fruit. Was it okay to eat? The blind boy, Thomas, said it was. So she carefully climbed back down, certain they wouldn't like her jumping again. She carefully walked over and took two oranges then went back to the tree trunk, sitting against its back. Zanna took one and began to carefully peel it, looking determined while Alyss was more careful, occasionally glancing up at them.

Thomas munched contentedly on his apple. Vulpix got up and began sniffing around.
"Show yourself! You foul minions of darkness!" TGP cried out, jumping to his feet. A half a second later, Esper growled at something and Volt got up angrily.
"ELEKTRIKE!" he yelled out. Some people came out of the trees. Thomas saw, from Esper, that the two he had chased off were back. And they had friends.
"We're here to take that stupid Bagon back. And the rest of your pokemon too!" the first man said.
"Vicious fiends! You'll never get away with this! Come, Pokeboy! Let us show them who is in charge!" TGP said. Thomas groaned. These men weren't going to listen to reason. He sighed. Marcus walked over to him.
"There are four of them. They all have a pokemon," Marcus whispered in his ear.
"Why, gentlemen! Welcome to my humble camp. If you would kindly put your sticks and rocks and bats down, I would be glad to share my food with you. But I won't let you touch my pokemon. And as for Draco, well, he was talking. That means he was a wild pokemon, so I caught him. To use your words, he's my pokemon now, and thus under my protection. Do you really want to fight me?" Thomas said. Volt and Esper stepped in front of him. Vulpix walked over as well.
"Clefairy! Let's go!" Marcus said. TGP was being his usual annoying self, and not doing anything. Thomas didn't want a confrontation. That would only scare Alyss more. He sighed when the men didn't back down. He called his power up, and began to glow. He knew that the way he was feeling, he was probably glowing a light green. The men all turned and fled, screaming something about a demon. Thomas let his power fade. He hoped that Alyss hadn't been watching him do that. The last thing he needed right now was to try to explain to a 8 year old what his power was.
"Well done, Pokeboy!" TGP said, clapping his rather large arm down on Thomas's shoulder, sending painful shockwaves into his broken bone. Thomas realized that this was the second time he had used his light in front of TGP. He seemed totally fine with it. But then again, he was a superhero, he probably saw this thing all the time, Thomas thought ruefully.

Alyss had been observing this but she remained quiet and scared-looking. Truthfully she was curious about his power but from what she could tell, he wasn't very adept at it yet. It seemed newly awakened so that made sense. She curled up quietly, allowing herself to be afraid of the men on the outside. As they fled, she felt a flicker of anger. They were cowards, weren't they? Theo said those cruel, cowardly people would be erased. That was a good thing, he said, but he also said evil would exist too because it was in everyone.

She looked down. That man made no sense on a good day. Zanna had been snarling furiously until they left and she began barking and yipping hatefully at Thomas. She was telling that boy to stay away. He would hurt her friend and she would not let that happen. She kept growling, expecting a fight.

Thomas looked down, massaging his arm. Zanna was growling and barking at him. Esper was watching her warily. Volt wasn't having it though. He poofed his fur up and walked over to the Zorua, growling at her. Thomas could tell what he was saying. It was obvious. He was telling her to leave Thomas alone. Thomas didn't need a fight, so he called Volt back into his pokeball. He sat down. His head was starting to hurt from the reaction. He ignored the angry Zorua, and rubbed his forehead. Vulpix was getting sick of this. He walked over to the Zorua and said, "Hey! Knock it off! I know you're trying to protect your friend! But you need to cut this out! Thomas hasn't done anything to her, and he's not going to! If he ever does, I'll help you kill him! But all you are doing right now is being annoying, so cut it out!"
"Not helping, Vulpix!" Marcus said wearily. Thomas sighed. They had to get ready to go. Thomas knew the gym was close, but didn't know where.
