The Children Are Hunted

Zoran smiled faintly. "Okay Sparx, go ahead." Sparx easily avoided the Zap Cannon and waited for another attack. She paused to clean her fur with a large paw. Zoran couldn't help his laugh. "Looks like you're not being taken all that seriously Volt." He grinned. "Let's make this more fun with a double battle!" At this, Cody perked and waddled over. "Eh, you sure you wanna do this?" The Pokemon nodded, standing loyally by Sparx. "Well that settled that. Hey Thomas, if you want to make this fun, send out Amber. She could probably be a good match against Cody." Asha grinned at this.

Thomas was surprised. Volt didn't get angry. He seemed impressed as he flew around her, then jumped over her and aimed a Double Kick toward her back. Thomas shrugged when Cody wandered over.
"Amber! Use Razor Leaf!" Thomas said. Amber ran out into the field and sent several leaves flying at the Marshtomp, none of them even remotely close to hitting him.
"Still don't quite have it yet,"Thomas mumbled to himself. Amber charged at him, then stopped and used Sand Attack as close as she could so he wouldn't be able to dodge it , or so Thomas hoped. Then she was on her way again, running around him.

Sparx twisted around to bite with icy fangs at one of Volt's legs, barely wincing at the blows to her back. She tried to hang on. Cody blinked slowly, scratching his head as the sand hit his face and obscured his vision. Then his fin twitched atop his head, searching for Sparx and, by extension, Volt. He fired a Mud Shot, sending it straight at Volt.

"Cody's fin is a radar," Zoran hummed. "It really doesn't matter too much if his vision's messed up like that." As the mud grew closer, Sparx let go and charged at Amber, preparing to sink Ice Fang into the Leafeon's tail. "And wow," he commented with a smile. "I hope Amber never changes."

"I hope not! She's too funny as she is now!" Thomas said as Amber twisted herself until her long and leafy tail slipped away from Sparx. This was all a game for her. Amber blasted a Sand Attack at the Luxray that was in her face before turning and running to get some distance between them.

Volt wasn't faring so well. He got hit with the Mud Shot and hit the dirt. He was up in a flash, and roaring at Cody.
"Volt! Forget him for a minute! Amber's in trouble! Use Discharge on Sparx!" Thomas yelled. Volt Blasted his electric power as hard as he could at Sparx. Thomas was grinning. This battle was going to be intense!

"Wow, they are really going at it!" Mia said to whoever was next to her. She thought that his name was... Robby?
"Yeah. This looks to be quite the battle! I'm Robby, by the way," Robby said. Mis didn't really care. She was going to fight Thomas again. And again. And again, however many times it took for her to win! She still couldn't believe how easy he had made it seem! And he couldn't even beat her brother! How had she lost to him, when she had beat Simon?

(OOC: Yes, I went there.)

Sparx shook herself and before the Discharge could hit, Cody had gotten in the way, absorbing the hit. It didn't exactly affect him much. He fired a Mud Shot again as Sparx closed her eyes, then opened them, staring ferociously at Amber through the cloud. Cody meanwhile, stared at Volt curiously. "What's got you so hyped up? You're weirder than Adler."

"You should give up on that attack," Sparx told the Leafeon coolly. "I can still see you." Sparx turned the feral stare on Amber now, waiting to see what she would do. Zoran laughed and laughed, looking slightly amused.

"It's going to take more than a Sand Attack to lower Sparx's accuracy," he commented.

(LMAO awesome. And any abilities shown in this are from the Pokedex entries.)

"Until I can learn a new attack, I use what I've got!" Amber said to the Luxray. She grinned. They were badly positioned, and she was going to use that to her advantage. She used Quick Attack, charging toward the Luxray, firing Razor Leaf all over the place as she went. At the last second, she leapt over Sparx, and flew straight for Cody, still firing Razor Leaf. Though she was much closer, and the odds were that she would hit him.

Thomas was getting a little annoyed by Zoran's attitude. Thomas didn't let it faze him, and he saw what Amber was doing. He couldn't let this opportunity pass.
"Now Volt! Use Quick Attack at Sparx! Then Zap Canon!" Thomas shouted. He couldn't let Volt fight Cody. Cody would destroy him. So, target the other foe. Volt Ran out of the way of the Mud Shot, and was very fast as he charged toward Sparx, charging up a Zap Canon as he ran, ready to fire it point blank.

Zoran grinned bitterly. "Well it looks like I did learn something over the years. Okay you two, you know what to do!" Cody let the Razor Leaf hit, wincing at the bleeding scratches. It hurt but it wasn't nearly as strong as that Solarbeam had been. He ignored the Leafeon and fired the Mud Shot for a third time at Volt. He was too focused on Sparx to notice that. And it was even more likely that that Zap Cannon would hit both Sparx and Volt from such close range. Lightningrod was an ability that didn't negate the damage of electricity unless the type was unaffected. It only drew it towards them.

Sparx stood her ground for the Zap Cannon. It hurt, but not nearly as much as it would have a week ago. She smiled at Volt."I'm sorry Volt," she told him softly. "But you'll have to do better than that." Despite the pain in her body from the Zap Cannon, she bit onto Volt's front leg and held on. She wouldn't let Cody's chance slip away.

"Your Pokemon are really strong," Zoran told Thomas. He meant it, really. "But so are mine. I'm more curious about how strong you and your Pokemon are together."

"How's this! Volt, grab her and drag her into the attack too!" Thomas yelled. Volt knew he couldn't get out of the way. He bit into Sparx's mane and yanked until she was in the path of the Mud Shot. If she let him go, he would be able to dodge in time. Thomas knew Volt probably couldn't take another hit. He was also hoping that the super effective attack would knock Sparx out too. Or, both of them would get away unscathed. Thomas hoped that Sparx would let go. But, if not, he was prepared. He still had one pokemon left.

Amber leapt away from Cody. She fired more leaves at him. If he was going to stand there and get hit, she wasn't going to object. There was nothing that could be done about Volt anyway. She was fast, but not that fast. She kept a wary eye out for any attacks that might come her way, ready to run if she had to. This was turning out to be very fun!

Sparx glanced at her trainer, who nodded. She let it hit, allowing them both to go flying backward, hitting the ground, out cold. Zoran smiled and quietly returned her, while Cody turned back to Amber. Feeling bored, he threw a Whirlpool at the Leafeon. It didn't matter how effective it was. That wasn't his goal.

"Good job Sparx," he hummed to his Pokeball, carefully placing it at his side. "It's your move. Do try to avoid being so typical okay?"

"Great job, Volt. You did well," Thomas said. He was typical? It had worked, hadn't it? Amber was in trouble. She had been caught in the Whirlpool. Thomas grinned. He knew just how to get out of this one.
"Amber! Swim with the current! Get going fast enough and you'll be thrown free!" Thomas said. Amber listened to him, and she swam faster and faster., ignoring the damage from the Whirlpool. She got going so fast that she was thrown out of the Whirlpool. Time for a counter attack! She twisted in the air, and fired Razor Leaf at Cody, wondering if he had even noticed her escape.

"Weren't they going with a three on three single battle a second ago?" Mia asked.
"Hush! This is getting good!" Robby said excitedly. Thomas was wondering that too.
"Hey Zoran, were we still going to go three on three?" Thomas asked, his hand on Draco's pokeball.

Zoran shrugged. "It's your choice Thomas. Cody! You ready yet?" Cody shook his head no and charged as Amber fell, tackling her. "Geez Cody, I know you're a tank but can you even feel that?" He groaned. "I know he has thick skin but jeez." Asha was laughing.

"You say that like it's a bad thing."

"Well, it's not very interesting."

"Ok. Amber! Let's finish this!" Thomas said. Amber got to her feet and got away from Cody. Making it a two on two may not have been the best choice. Amber had taken a few hits, and she was several levels lower. Thomas would have to rely on her speed and type advantage. Cody, on the other hand, had no doubt taken a lot of damage. He could probably take a lot more. The question was whether Amber's luck could hold until she took him down. No, that wasn't right. Cody still couldn't see! She just had to mess his radar up!
"Amber! Use Razor Leaf! Then Quick Attack! Aim for his head!" Thomas said, knowing she would catch his meaning. Amber charged at Cody, firing leaves in her usual wild pattern before leaping toward the small fin on his head. Zoran wasn't the only one that could exploit a weak point!

Zoran sighed. "Again, that was really obvious mate. Sorry. Cody, use Whirlpool on yourself!" Cody blinked and obeyed, engulfing himself in the water, refusing to attempt an escape yet. The water dripped all over him, turning the ground slightly muddy. "Makes a good shield, even with type advantages," Zoran commented with a wince. "Hurts after a while though, I can personally testify to that. You okay Cody?" The Marshtomp nodded, wiping at his eyes.

"Sorry," Zoran added to Thomas. "I guess I'm not making this easy am I?"

"No problem! I wouldn't expect it to be easy! Amber, you know what to do," Thomas said. Amber stopped short, and started firing Razor Leaf into the Whirlpool. The leaves would swirl all around, causing even more damage. It wouldn't be as strong as if she had hit him with it normally. But, combined with the Whirlpool, the leaves would keep coming, and cause a rather large amount of damage over a somewhat short period of time. Thomas was perfectly content to let Zoran play defensively. As long as he was on the defense, Amber had the advantage. Amber would either clog the Whirlpool so full of leaves that it couldn't move anymore, or he would drop it, and get hit with a full force Razor Leaf. Thomas didn't care that Zoran thought his stratigies were obvious. Zoran was some kind of battling fiend. His mind probably thought up stratigies that were so convoluted and absurd that they made everyone stop and stare. Thomas knew that his plans were good against most people, and they seemed to be working so far.

Zoran smiled. He could see it through the Whirlpool and snapped his fingers. "Too slow." Cody whirled through the whirlpool, the water boosting his speed. As he soared out, the Marshtomp was up in the air. He dove like a cannonball, jetting a Water Gun at the Leafeon's body to force back the Razor Leaf as he tackled. The ground was getting muddier and Cody was slowly but surely getting faster as he slid on his belly. Even as he got hurt, Cody's intense concentration didn't change.

Amber got soaked by the Water Gun. She tried to get away, but slipped in the mud. She scrambled to her feet, only to get hit by Cody. Thankfully, she was thrown out of the mud. She struggled to her feet. She was not in good shape. She wasn't going to last much longer. Thomas gave her a look, and without any words, she knew what to do. She fired Razor Leaf, then used Quick Attack to circle around the Marshtomp, still firing Razor Leaf. She was extra careful not to go near the mud. When your moveset consists only of useful two moves, there isn't a whole lot you can do. But, bless her heart, she was trying. Thomas had to find a way to teach her some new moves after this battle. Maybe Simon would help her learn Solar Beam. But Thomas knew, one way or another, this would end soon.

Zoran gave a sleepy smile. "Do you want to stop Thomas? It doesn't look like either of us is really getting anywhere anymore. Besides, I know something cool I can show Amber. I think your Pokemon have gotten stronger anyway." Asha suppressed a smile. Did he ever take things seriously? He turned to smile at her. "Nope!" Alyss giggled. Cody rolled in the mud, avoiding some of the sharp leaves. Arca groaned.

"Stupid," she muttered.

"I think you mean mellow," Alyss mumbled with a smile.

Thomas knew better to turn down the draw. It would be better than a loss, which was probably how this would have ended. Besides that, he was curious.
"Something cool to show Amber? Alright. Sounds awesome! And thanks for the compliment! It really means a lot. We've been working really hard, Amber especially! Your team is amazing as well," Thomas said. Amber walked over to him, very out of breath. But she was looking mighty pleased with herself.
"Did you have fun? Good!" Thomas said. He walked over to Zoran, followed by Amber and Esper. Esper was curious as well.
"I wonder what he's gonna show Thomas!" Mia said.
"Who knows," Robby said.

Zoran grinned and gently lifted Amber onto his shoulders. "What I'm showing you will help you learn a cool new move. What you need to do is get out in the sun and try to draw energy from the sun." He placed her in a sunny place. "Don't stare at it, just try to grab its energy. Leafeon mostly use photosynthesis to get food, or they eat leaves. She'll feel better when she does this I promise. It will replenish her energy much faster than Heal Pulse. It'll also get you ready to learn Solarbeam." He let her walk over, glancing at Thomas. "This is the first step to teaching her a new move. Think you can handle it?" His eyes were teasing.

"I don't know, it seems kind of tough. You always contrive to make things difficult," Thomas said, equally teasing. Amber walked around in a circle before settling herself in the sun. Thomas hoped she wouldn't fall asleep. Thomas was shocked when he saw her wounds healing.
"How the heck are you donig that?" Thomas asked.
"Huh? Oh, she's using Synthesis," Esper said.
"Synthesis? Awesome!" Thomas said. Zoran knew what he was talking about. She was already absorbing the energy from the sun and turning it to heal her wounds. It wasn't that hard to imagine her blasting her enemies with solar energy! Then Thomas had another idea.
"Hey, if she can take the sunlight for this, maybe she can do the same with the light I can make. We'll try that after she gets a bit better with the taking the sunlight. I'm pretty sure she can't do that without laying in the sun yet," Thomas said. He would try it later.

(OOC: Yes, Leafeon learns Synthesis naturally as she levels up.)
