I was so happy when we upgraded. It'll be so sad to go back. XD;
 
Was it a kind of vBulletin mod? 8D
I wish phpBB had something like that, but I suppose you gotta pay for the good stuff >_>
 
Yeah, it's a vB plugin. We thought it might be because of the plugin system itself being messed up (since other plugins aren't working properly right now) except the report system is a plugin, I think, and it's working fine. So it's very confusing. XD;
 
That's weird, if there are more that aren't working well... Did you have to manually install them? Did any of the coding go wrong in any of them or something? (I had a similar problem where in an old forum of mine, a shop mod wasn't working and it screwed up a bunch of other mods and showed error messages)

Well, in any case, I hope things get better with the plugins. ^^;;
 
I haven't touched the vB plugins before, but as far as I know, it's a pretty easy install. None of the old hack modifications where you had to explicitly change a few lines of code from the source like before. @_@;
 
Oh god, I hate those~ And they haven't come out with EasyMod for phpBB3 (that I know of), so I have to go in and install them all manually. I tried their Genders hack before, but I rushed and almost destroyed the forum, so I've given up for now (but seriously, shouldn't a major upgrade like that come with something like genders?)
 
phpBB3 doesn't have genders? o_O; That's really weird.

I installed and played around with MyBB recently. I really like the software. phpBB's admin CP always confused me or something, but all of MyBB is just really easy to use. It just lacks in the modifications department, I find. D:
 
MyBB's actually the only forum software I've never tried. I like the Simple Machines one, but it was just hard for me to make themes for it. XMB annoyed me, it lacked in the admin department. >_> phpBB's the very first forum I've ever used, and I got the hang of it right away. But, yeah, like you said their admin CP is very confusing. I wanted to make a usergroup for Moderators (which I can't believe they don't have, either @_@), and their permissions kept bothering me. >.<

EDIT: I just checked out MyBB. I'm kind of in love with it. =)
 
I played around with SMF back when PC's reference board was on it, but I never really liked the admin console in that either. Never tried XMB. I like phpBB3 but... there's something about phpBB that I always just hated so I almost refused to join forums using that software. I forget what it was though. XD

But see, isn't it nice? XD It's like the vB for poor people or something. ♥
 
People who think they're on vB, but they're not~ It's pretty cool software, I might just do the switch. I'll download it tomorrow and try it out for myself, but I think I'm gonna like it a lot~

P.S.: XMB sucks >.< A lot. Their ACP is awful and just... it's terrible. And IMO, phpBB2 is better than 3, only because the mods were better and it wasn't as hard to edit and play around with it.
 
It really is a nice software. I don't mind the lack of mods all that much since, well, most things you'd need to mod in are already included in the software. XD

Well, all things have their hiccups after a big upgrade like that. Especially in the first transitional bit when modders have to upgrade their mods to work with the new source code. @_@; But regardless, I've never been a phpBB fan.
 
Oh god... MyBB separated the mods from the super mods from the admins in their forum team list... and it has genders...

Count me in. Waaaaaaay in. ♥

Oh, and the mods... I've looked at them. They're all the really useful stuff, not the useless crap phpBB2 gave us. xD
 
Yay, I converted someone! And... and I'm not even a real supporter of the forum. I just installed it once and liked it. XD;

But yeah, it really does feel a lot like vB made for people who don't want to shell out the $85 for a license or whatever. It really makes me want to start a forum just for the sake of using the software regularly from an admin standpoint. XD;
 
Haha, that's why I like making forums~ I like to feel like the boss. xDDDD

Although, hopefully, I'll get somewhere with the forum I'm in the process of making now... =D

I was tempted to buy vB, but I'm not shelling out that kind of money. It's a stupid buy, especially this early on.
 
Yeah, I wouldn't spend money on vB for any forum that wasn't already firmly established. And successful. @_@; vB is expensive. D'8

But it's by far the best forum software I've used. The admin panel is like a dream come true. n_n;~
 
Oh, gosh, you guys are so lucky! D: If you say it's that good, then it must be pretty amazing~ I've tried out a bunch of admin panels and I have yet to find one that's practical and well-organized, although MyBB looks like it's just that~ phpBB's pretty much only aesthetically pleasing ~.o
 
If you go to vB's site, you can sign up for a trial. They'll give you a username and password and access to a private vB that you can play around with for a bit. I use it whenever I'm not sure how to do something and don't want to screw it up on PC. XD;
 
Oh, really? I might just do that, just to get a feel for it. Just a taste of it, since I'm definitely not buying it anytime soon.

Although I fear that once I try it, I might not wanna go back >_>
