I'd imagine that most parents (If they're any good anyway) have taught their children to respect them. Kids aren't "forced" to do anything, but simply understand that they should listen to their parents.

thats rught, especially with my mom, when I don't do chores she gets depressed and she already has migraine problems so its hard to say no.

I never quite understood it... and I was a child only a short time ago.

Never understood why children listen to their parents? Parents teach their children essential things they'll need so they can succeed in school and later in life. If they didn't do that...sure, kids might not have much reason to listen. The respect comes from the kids knowing that their parents know how to take care of them. It happens naturally.

Hmm. I think school is what caused a lot of problems for me in life. I see fear and respect as very much the same things as one another...

No, you'll be very much alive. Either they'll let the baron do what he wants with you or they'll rush you to a hospital soon after claiming that you lost your organs.
