Well I remember when the idea was made:), I really liked it, I would have tried to run for president:), lol if I would win I would be the first female president of PC ;)

Anyway, I'm on the fence. Everyone always had so much fun but people are too bitter these days and I just think those people who say things like "it's such a popularity test, it's just pointless, etc" just suck all the fun out of things like this. :/

I know, why do people have to be so sour/bitter:), I mean we do come on the forum to have fun:), and how can one really be popular on a forum:),


I would love it if we would give that idea another try:).
 
I'm one of the ones kind of on the fence about it. On the one hand, a lot of people look back on those days pretty fondly and everyone did have a lot of fun... but on the other hand, there are a lot of font colours as it is and it's not like the president even did anything. @_@; Maybe if we bumped down the time they stayed their own colour to a month and just gave a permanent emblem or something, that would be neat. *shrug*

That sounds awesome, I mean a colored name for a month:), and ye more emblems:),


Could the emblem maybe say President of PC May 2009 or sum? (You know stating the date of their term)

Well why don't you just pick one color:), like, I don't know, Magenta, so their aren't to many colors.

And if there are some ranks like council or sum then you would have to have 2 colors, president, and the people under that.

I would think it would be awesome if this were given another try:).
 
Well, the coolest thing that made even me jealous of the presidents was that they got to pick their own colour. :x

As for emblems... it would probably be a general presidential emblem especially if we brought it back as an annual or semi-annual thing. @_@ The backend of the emblem system is horribly cluttered with each emblem we add.

Admittedly the more I think about the work that'd go into it and whatnot, the less I like the idea. *shot* XD;
 
fffffffffffffffffff cross-referencing IPs to catch cheaters was the most boring thing ever. :( I remember it took me hours when I counted the votes the first time we did it.

Haha, oh geez definitely not monthly. XD; I was thinking it would be rather tolerable if, say, we had an election in January. For the month of February or something, the winner would get their spiffy name and then lose it in March. Then in July we'd hold another (if it were semi-annually) and the next month another person gets a colour and so on.

Lmao I'm probably getting so many peoples' hopes up just discussing these possibilities when there are like no plans for it at all. XD;

Oh so then obviously new members that have been informed about PC/told to vote a certain way by their IRL friends (an example being Simmone, she's easily mouldable) are all alternate accounts then? Funny.

So if this were done would the president be like the president of the USA or Iceland,

Wait what. At first I thought you meant a president for each country and I was like "Um..."

It's basically the same thing, just that the PC president wouldn't have the duties that one that rules a country would have.
 
How can you have a online president..? Is it suppose to be like having a class president or something? :| And that the ideals of the people are subjected to one person. With a community this big, that would be a pretty hard thing to do. XD;; I'd feel sorry for the person who would be elected as PC president, if there ever is one. Though a president would have no such role in a forum like this, were we have staff and such, and all the countless people would want to sign up for president.. Gee whiz, that'd be such a fun time. Too bad it would never happen. :D

Oh and I had cake today. :D! It was carrot cake, tasted weird but meh. XD;

I find it weird, having a vegetable in a cake. o_O I don't really eat cake much though, coming from someone who works at a cake shop/cafe, but I love cheesecake. :D I use to get a caramel mud cake for my birthday every year, but for some reason, I've been going off sweets. They're not really to my liking anymore. :x And also the fact I feel bad when I eat them. XD;;

But there was one time I ate a wax cake, thinking it was real. >__> It tasted real, but I guess that was because I was eating what I thought was the "icing". I think after that, I kinda stopped liking cake.
 
Indeed. <3 Though I shouldn't be eating cheesecake, due to my lactose intolerant-ness. ;; Though you keep saying I'll get over it. I don't see how I can get over something like that really. D: It's a hereditary thing and most asian's are lactose intolerant, unfortunately. My whole family is pretty much lactose intolerant, and we drink special lactose milk. Soy milk tastes kind of weird and is too thick in volume for my liking. Though I could just take lactose pills to make my life easier. It's not like I eat or drink much dairy products anyways.
 
XD I love cake, but it has to be chocolate chocolate. Otherwise, I'm a pie person. (this feels reeeeeeeally familiar.)

Anyway, it just seems like a lot of the 'problems' that everyone would run into when setting up the PC Presidency are really easy to solve. For instance, first of all, don't take it so seriously. It's just a fun contest-like-thing for people to participate in. It's just vying for that bigger inbox/fancy usertitle, you wouldn't get any power or have to govern anything, etc. Maybe each President could attempt to set up some fun new thing for PC, but it'd be alright if whatever they try doesn't work out. (Just to give them something to do.) But they certainly wouldn't have the ability to alter the site or "control" PC members, etc.

Second, the whole tallying up the votes, I know Erica doesn't wanna do it. XD So why is it that regular members couldn't be trusted counting the votes? I mean, we're all very much trusted when we request to host MotM and it's not like you've seen any swayed votes during those contests (BB doesn't crush me 2,000 to 3 in Favorite Male, lolz.) So my best idea would be first, who on the staff would be willing to tally and second, that/those staff members could pick a council of trusted regular members who'd be interested in counting. I for one probably wouldn't run, but I'd love to count up the votes and help announce the winner.

And I really love Lightning's semi-annual idea. It'd give the winner enough time to say "yay, I'm PC President! :3" and bask in it until July where a superspecialawesometime would come back, everyone would get excited, and elections would resume.

I also understand that staff are members too, yet I believe it was brought up in the discussion thread about this that just to be fair, staff wouldn't be allowed to run (given they're already well known commodities with a permanent position.) Of course I wouldn't mind if everyone was allowed to run, as long as we had it!

And again, to stop n00bs from voting, you have certain guidelines for voters, maybe an Approval to Vote system could be set up where staff screens the eligible voters (as well as whose eligible to run for President, obviously there'd be a few pre-qualifications.)

..Sorry I just really love new ideas and functions. XD I'm not really this gun-ho about it, it's just a really unique and fun concept that would be easy to implement if managed correctly.

and to those who are all emo and say 'ugh..it's just a popularity contest/it'll ruin the community..' what kind of an attitude is that? :P

But yeah, I'd be perfectly happy as long as the community keeps trucking with new stuff to do and things to participate in. I know some of the staff is hard at work setting up something for the Stadium/Trade Corner which I love, yet this Presidency is something everyone can go for. I don't want to get everyone's hopes up either, haha, so I'll let the higher-ups do what they do.

..So about that cake. XD
 
That was rather long winded, but valid.
I'd actually like to see this presidency thing.
If we have a n00b screen for it, I have much higher hopes than originally when i first saw the idea.
