It also leads ppl into thinking ur just a newbie and no skill is really required.

;) Very cool.

Nice how someone tested it out aswell.

As you said, the opponent will think you are a new player if you use the Beams, which you can work to your advantage, I like how people think you are a new player when you just 2HKO'd their Suicune who had a Calm Mind lol.

Whenever u see someone use 'em you know you have a victory coming. I havent checked SPPF for a while, i dunno wat HD ms are like, but he got banned shortly for the funnyiset spam thred ever. Everyone who posted got banned for 3 days :P it was funny

Incorrect.

When you see someone use them "improperly" you know you have a win.

We here, are coming up with ways to use them properly, you will not have an auto win if you come up against one of the sets here ;)

:P Improbelry, right.

Curselax@Lechi/Lefties
252 hp/129 def/129 att
Admant

~Curse
~Hyper Beam
~Rest
~Shadow ball

No much of a differnce to the standred curselax, but awsome power w/ cursed up hyper beam :P Swicth after Hyper beam.

Theres no way to aviod not getting hit after a Hyper Beam or Hyper Beam-like attack. You attack, they switch in something and are all over you with two hits... =|.

^ there you go.
The venasaur which is doing me some good
Venasaur[sassy]@leftovers
EVs - hp,Att,SpDef,SpAtt
earthquake
sludge bomb
sleep powder
frenzy plant

.......again this would only work so long as ppl don't expect frenzy plant[and when they know u have it they think ur a newbie]

Well, I didn't mean for you to throw the Beam out into the open.

The idea is to play along, using the other moves, and eventually use the Beam when it's the right time, the extra power will help you out.

Spike, we know things can get over the top of you if you use the Beam, at the wrong time..

Were are you trying to go with the whole beam thing? We all know there useless if something with resist is hit by them. There is no "right time" to use them because most people know that Zard (not really Blastoise or Vena, since that often stall) will try and get you with a STABed attack so they will send out something that can handle a Flametrower, see that you are using Blast Burn and just pwn you silly =|. As for Hyper Beam, it could probably KO something, but then another Pokemon will come out and KO you after.

Example: Lax Hyper Beams, something faints, Cham comes out and Focus Punches you're trapped Lax =|.

People will not see it coming.

Spike, te idea is to perhaps use it as a final move, much like Explosion, I understand you can get your entire team owned if you use it at the wrong time, that's why it's best to strategically place the move in battle.

Once you know the opponents team, you could destroy things that resist and then you are home free.

i thinkthe beams are horribly underrated. nobody wants to skip turns, but this isn't like solar beam where you have to charge before you attack. the fact is that they're the most powerful elemental attacks, and therefore are the best at finishing off opponents. i think that's always been the way to go.

question though(since i haven't no where near getting frenzy plant in my game - which probably hurts my credibility) if you finish an opponent using frenzy plant, do you still have to recharge for 1 round? because in the RBY if you finish an opponent with hyperbeam you don't have to wait to recharge, but start fresh when the opponent brings in a new pokemon.

If u kill with a beam, u hav the option of switching, unless battle style is on set.

EDIT: 600th Post! Woohoo!

You have to charge no matter what unless you finish the entire battle.

Jason are you talking about the GBA?

i think that may be why people don't like it. i still don't like the idea of having a venasaur with movset of sbomb, sleep powder, leechseed, and earthquake though. it's a "tweener" rather than a true grass type. i just don't like it.

Well, with Sleep Powder and Leech Seed to assist it, Venusaur CAN execute Frenzy Plants, as long as you know the opponents team, and destroy anything that resists, you ARE going to kill something.

Just make sure that you have got rid of anything that resists, apart from that not a whole lot of pokemon can stand up to the beams.

Yes i mean the GBA.

Jason man, include some stuff on topic in your posts :P

What do you think of Frenzysaur?

Venasaur use Sleep Powder, random Pokemon falls asleep. Opponent switches out because there Pokemon cannot attack anymore. Unless you are a complete nub with no sleep clause you put one Pokemon to sleep, something like Meta comes out that you cannot Frenzy Plant or Sludge Bomb, it Agilities while you switch up you're Pokemon.

But the same goes for Razor Leaf.

'Saur would Sleep Powder something.
They would switch.
You'd Leech Seed Metagross or whoever.
They either Agility or switch. You would switch to another tank and either receive a pseudo-passed Leech Seed, or, if they switched as well, nothing's happened but one of their Pok?mon's now asleep.

I never said there was any reason to use Blast Burn or Hydro Cannon; I just said that Frenzy Plant/Hyper Beam on Slaking can be of use with good planning/prediction. Both Venusaur and Slaking are good sponges, so they should be able to handle the recharge turn, and benefit from the fact that Hyper Beam+Recharge/Frenzy Plant+Recharge do more than Return+Loaf/Razor Leaf+Razor Leaf. This is why Leftovers+Leech Seed are a must on the FP Venusaur, since they help you out on the recharge.
