I know this is stupid and all..but when mewtwo is herding up all those tauros for team rocket,it then shows them throwing the pokeballs.Did anyone else notice the single black man in a group of white men?Ive always found pokemon to be really racist since you barely see colored folk. But black people I mean.I just thought it was funny to see one black man out of the group of white males.

Who says that the man wasn't just a person with dark skin? Why does he have to be black? Why not Hispanic because they can have the skin color of a white person or a black person? Why can't they just be Japanese people? Why does there always have to be a sufficiant amount of "black" people? Why can't people just realize that most Japanese people don't have the skin of "black" people and that's why there aren't many?

There aren't that many "black" people in many shows, live-action or animated. Don't take this the wrong way but I don't think anyone cares.

If you don't give a damn then why did you make this thread? Because you do.

Anyway, who cares about the number of "black" people on a kids show? Brock is "black" and he's been in almost every episode.

You know what? Where are those Hispanic people? I noticed a lack of those on the show as well so you might as well make a thread for those people too. I'll make it if you want but then again no one cares.

I posted because its late at night at theres nothing else to do.That and i was watching the first movie. Then when i saw the colored person i though Id post this thread for no reason. So as I said..i really dont give a damn.

So there was something to do: watch the first movie.

You're 21, allegedly, and you thought pointing out a scene that lasts for 3 seconds was so important, or so racially insensitive, that you decided that it needed a thread. Really? Don't bother answering please. It's not worth it.

Ugh, you have me riled up on a Pokémon forum. Thanks.

Hmmm..pretty much.As i said,i just find it intersting that in a group of white men theres a colored person. If most of the show is white, namely team rocket, then why did they feel like they need to add a single colored person in there

First of all, I h8 ur gramurz.

Second of all, what the hell does it matter?! We are not in the Pre-MLK Jr. Era anymore. It's a kid's show anyways. Like even those brains would care. For all we know Nintendo flips coins to determine what happens in their movies.

Blacks aren't a common sight in Japan, so that's why they haven't often appeared in the anime. Since the first movie was fully intended for international release, they simply decided to put a token black person in the background.

Sad, but that's the way it is. But on the bright side, though Pokemon isn't the best representative of modern anime, there are others that do present more blacks in background and main roles which are largely positive.

What we should take from this is that although there are few blacks in Japanese media, almost none of those representations have been negative. So no racism.

Kinda like in One Piece when they turned the black kid white.I still dont understand why they need to do that in America. The english gets the anime but then pretty much cuts out all races except for whit.Brock is different. He's asian, hence the sterotypical and racist slinty eyes he has.But othere than brock and his family there arent really any colored characters, even when the English get ahold of the anime. But why do they cut colored folk out in America.Ive been watching anime for awhile.I was 11 or 12 hen Pokemon came out in 98.And i always wondered why americans dont add all colors into the show.

Brocks eyes aren't slanted. They're just closed. Ash and Misty and everyone else are just as much Asian as he is, so don't bring up that slanted-eye ******** (which, for your information, is a myth).

And if 4Kids or anyone else did that they'd only get more controversy for construed "blackface".

His eyes are closed? Is that what 4kids said?Or the original creators? So if his eyes are closed then how in the hell can he see where he's going? His eyes being "closed" seems like a way of covering things up.

it's a cartoon, its not going to make sense really. Maybe he has an ultra sense for his nose or something =/. Its proven that he does have eyes, because there has been episodes when he opened them for a scene (ie: a pretty girl)
