The Fortune Cup X&Y
With permission from Dragon, I have decided to bring back his very successful tournament known as the Fortune Cup for the X&Y meta! For those who are new to this tournament, here is a link to the old thread to maybe get a better idea about it and as a reference of where this tourney originated.
About this tournament:
- Simply post "in" if you want to join! Remember that once you enter you are testing fate as this tournament is 50% luck and 50% skill!
- Once you enter, you will be given 8 Pokemon randomly generated by numbers 1-719. That's right! You can have any Pokemon Bulbasaur-Diancie!
- With these 8 Pokemon, you will choose any 6 to start your team with and create any movesets that you please as long as they are legal moves.
- As you obtain more Pokemon, you are free to use any combination of them anytime you like! There are no restrictions to how many times you can change your team.
- This is not an elimination tournament. You will be using a point system using "coins". For each win you get 10 coins and for each loss you get 5 coins. So do as many battles as possible for a better chance of winning. There is nothing to lose!
- Having bad luck? Did you get terrible mons? That's okay! For each time you have lost a 3rd game you will be eligible for a free Pokemon to add to your collection. Just PM me with your post confirming your third loss and I will give you a new Pokemon.
- Make one post in this thread to record all of your results, purchases, etc.
- You can also buy new Pokemon for 5 coins each!
- Be sure to keep track of all of your Pokemon in your notepad or PC control panel.
- This is a 3 week long tournament so everyone has time to battle!
- The 3 people with the highest amount of coins will be victorious!
- Prizes include a participant emblem for everyone and the three winners will receive the "player" rank at the server for a week!
A visual example of how this works:
As this can be kind of confusing, I will do a representation of how this all plays out! Lets say I join under my server name of Michonne. I will be randomly given 8 Pokemon from numbers ranging 1-719. Lets say I get the following Pokemon:
Mewtwo, Castform, Suicuine, Caterpie, Raticate, Yanmega, Tangela, Inkay
Now, I will choose 6 of these for my team based on which ones I think are better Pokemon for battle. Now my roster may look like:
Mewtwo, Suicune, Yanmega, Tangela, Raticate, Inkay
Caterpie and Castform are still Pokemon I can use, but are in reserve for now as there are better options!
Now I start my battles. Lets say I face wolf first in the tournament and win against him(gg ez). I will record my results like this:
Won vs wolf, +10
Total: 10 coins.
Now lets say wolf wants a rematch and beats me this time:
Won vs wolf, +10
Lost vs wolf, +5
Total: 15 coins.
Make sure that you record all battles! Even losses.
I have now participated in 5 battles, but have unfortunately lost 3 of them :( My results now look like:
Won vs wolf, +10
Lost vs wolf, +5
Lost vs Sanguine, +5
Won vs Sector, +10
Lost vs Zeffy, +5
Total: 35 coins.
I am now eligible for a free Pokemon to add to my roster! I message the tournament host via PM and a new Pokemon will be randomly generated for me. For the sake of this, lets say I was given Jellicent. Now my team looks like:
Mewtwo, Suicune, Yanmega, Tangela, Raticate, Jellicent
Inkay was put into reserve for future use with Castform and Caterpie.
Now lets say that I still haven't been having luck and wish to "purchase" 2 new Pokemon that will be randomly generated. I subtract 5 coins for each purchase, bringing my total amount down by 10 coins. I have now been given Aegislash and Chansey. Now my team looks like:
Mewtwo, Suicune, Yanmega, Jellicent, Aegislash, Chansey
Tangela and Raticate now join the others in reserve for future use. There is no limit to how many Pokemon you can have in reserve.
Tournament rules:
- After you read the rules simply post "in" along with your battle server username to join!
- All standard clauses apply except for two, Uber clause because it is possible that you will be given an Uber Pokemon and species clause as you could be generated a duplicate Pokemon.(I got 3 Metapods when I entered!)
- Post everything in one post in this thread(wins, losses, purchases, etc.)
- This tournament will last for 3 weeks(you may sign up at any time!). I will distribute the first set of Pokemon on August 10th and the tournament will end September 1st.
- You may begin as soon as you receive you Pokemon so waste no time!
- Do not spectate other battles. Common courtesy here so please don't do it. If you are caught doing this you may be disqualified.
- Do not reveal your or other participant's Pokemon.
- All battles must take place on the PokeCommunity server located here.
