Did you notices the Hoenn starters isn't looke like the other Starters.. ?
That i mean, Bulbasaur, Chikorita and Turtwig has plants, seed, or something like that on them.. But Treecko? I never see anything 'plant-liked' on him... Charmander, Cyndaquil and Chimchar has all flame on theirs back or tail.. I know Cyndaquil's flame come and go, but Cyndaquil still have a flame... Torchic has no flame. And Squirtle, Totodile and Piplup is on two legs, and Mudkip on four..
This is mabye a little stupid Topic, but still.. Hope you get my point..

I agree with Eon, they were supposed to be different. I think that they did it like that because Hoenn was so different from the other regions, with lots of new Pokemon, so they just changed the starters a bit.

And yes, your text is hard to read..

I also agree with Eon, if they didn't look like there evolutions at all then thats a problem. Just like the post below, different regions different looks

They were sure made to be a little different from the other starters

that's right every region has different pokemon residing
oh and squirtle has four legs squirtle just stood up that's all.....

Why does everything need to look the same these days? Somebody tries to do something a tad bit differently, and you cry about it. You stomp on the artist's courageous creativity like Smokey Bear stamping out a forest fire. But this is no small forest fire, this is the flame of hope. The flame of hope burning for the ideal of acceptance, despite how different things get. Such close-mindedness sickens me. I am sick to my stomach because of this. Not only have you defamed my beliefs, you have sickened my stomach, and caused me to complain. I am so angry. So angry that my brain is sending signals to my fingers to press keys on my keyboard in such an angry manner that my friend has asked me if I want a salad. And I said "Yes." to him. I said "Yes." to him in such a way that he went running to the kitchen to tell my chef that I wanted a salad. The salad that I received only worsened my anger, because it was shining with disregard for diversity.

    They are right.

    Grass starters are all reptiles.
Fire starters are all small animals.
Water starters are all water animals.

Hoenn starters I must admit were my least favourite. Usually when the starters are released I can choose my favourite easily and go with that, but I wasn't very happy with any of those.. I always end up going for Mudkip, just because I prefer water types to the rest of them.

The only starters I noticed were similar were Blaziken and Infernape. I mean, they're both Fire/Fight-types with mostly Attack and Speed-heavy stats.

    Grass starters are all reptiles.

Toads and frogs (i.e. Bulbasaur line) aren't reptiles. They're amphibians, which are slightly different. As in, in a completely different class of animals.

And if you think about it, all of the starters are small animals, not just the Fire-types.

Anyway, I agree with NOTSpam (up until the point about salads... although a salad does sound good right about now). There's really no reason why the starters should fit a pattern other than the traditional Fire-Water-Grass trio. *shrug* While it's something I noticed, there's still other differences between each starter set anyway because, yes, they're completely different Pokemon. For example, Charmander is the only reptile out of all of the Fire starters (the others being a shrew, a bird, and a monkey). Piplup is the only bird out of the Water starters. Chikorita is the only Grass starter not based on an animal that still exists. Cyndaquil is the only Fire starter that evolves into a pure Fire-type (rather than, for example, Fire/Flying like Charizard or or Fire/Fighting like Infernape and Blaziken). And so on and so forth.

Yeah, they all have other differences. Bulbasaur is the only starter to have a bulb on it. Chikorita is the only one with a single leaf on it's head. Turtwig is the first grass starter based on an aquatic animal. Charmander is the only starter who's flame never goes out. Cyndaquil is the only who's flame only ignites when in battle. Chimchar is the only who's flame goes out while it sleeps. Squirtle is the only water-type turtle. Tododile is the only who's mouth is always open. Piplup is the first water starter based on a bird.

They're all different from each other. So why single out the Hoenn starters?
