"The girl who over came time and the boy who was just over come" Episode 1-
The very first thing we see is a number of villagers trying to prevent Inuyasha from going any further. Inuyasha easily breaks through the nets the villagers are trying to capture him in. With a smirk on his face, Inuyasha breaks into a small shrine. He grabs a tiny, purple jewel that is in the center of the room. As he flees from the burning village, we hear him bragging about how "now he can become a full-fledged demon." Then out of nowhere, an arrow pierces through the air, hitting Inuyasha in the chest. As he is thrown back, the stolen jewel in his hand flies out of his grasp and onto the ground. The arrow had pinned him to a tree and he was unable to move. Inuyasha looks up to see who shot that deceitful arrow and the person was the priestess, Kikyo.
"Kikyo, I thought-" Inuyasha says as he slips out of conciseness. Kikyo, who is badly wounded and bloody, staggers toward the jewel that lay on the ground. She falls because she is weak. A crowd from the village, including her younger sister, Kaede, gathers around the hurt Kikyo.
"Sister, please you need help!" Kaede presses.
"I will not be in this world much longer. Take this, the Shikon no Tama, and burn it with my body," Kikyo replies, offering her sister the purple, glistening jewel. Then Kikyo dramatically falls down. We see her body being burned with the Scared Jewel in her hands. Then the screen shows the title of the episode. Next on the screen we see a shrine in Modern day Tokyo, Japan.
"Do you really think people will buy these little key chains?" a girl in a pink sweater asks as she is scrutinizing the little keychain in her hands.
"This keychain," says an old man in a tradition Japanese outfit, "is a replica of an ancient jewel which-" the old man stops talking because the girl is too distracted.
"You do remember tomorrow is my birthday, right?" the girl ponders.
"How could I forget my adorable granddaughter's birthday?" he says in a happy tone. The old man {Meh, let's call him Grandpa from now on} hands the girl a small box.
"That is a mummified hand of a water sprite," he proudly says.
"Here, Buyo. Eat," the girl says as she gives the withered hand to the family cat. Then we hear a voice over come on. It's the voice of the pink-sweatered girl.
"The thousand year-old sacred tree. The legend of the hidden well. I've heard these stories all my life and I've never believed a word of it. That is 'til today...my 15th birthday. " We see Kagome Higurashi {you must realize that she is the pink-sweatered girl, unless you are very dense} emerge from her house in the morning. She has long black hair and big brown eyes. She is wearing a typical Japanese school uniform. As Kagome is heading to school she sees her younger brother, Sota, by an old shed.
"You shouldn't play around here," Kagome says sternly.
"
It's not me, it's the cat!" explains Sota. Both Kagome and Sota enter the old shed. The shed is empty except for a dry, old well that is down a small flight of stairs. Since Sota was afraid to go down, Kagome descends down the stairs to search for Buyo. Suddenly, the cat pops out, frightening Kagome, but than picks the fat house cat up. Then there was a loud scratching noise coming from inside the well. All of s sudden pale, long arms burst out of the well, grabbing Kagome. Buyo jumps out of her hands as Kagome is pulled into the depths of the well. The thing that had dragged her in was a huge monster. Its upper half was of a woman and its lower that of a centipede.
"You have it, don't you? Give it to me!" demands the centipede as it licks Kagome's face.
"What are you doing?! Get away from me!" screams Kagome. She shoves her hand it the monster's face. The monster's arm flies off in a flash of abrupt light.
"The Sacred Jewel! I must have it!" yells the centipede as she disappears.
"Sacred...Jewel?" Kagome says. With a little thud, Kagome lands on the bottom of well; The detached arm of the monster landing next to her. Kagome climbs out of the well...but she is no longer in her family shrine. She is in a green forest. Kagome looks around puzzled. Then she spots the Sacred Tree that resides on her family shrine. The tree! Kagome thinks as she runs towards it. She expects to end up back at the shrine, but when she reaches the tree, she comes across something much different. Large vines were thriving up and down the tree and entangled in them was a boy, Kagome like no other she had ever seen. The boy had long sliver hair, was wearing a tomato-red outfit and had an arrow in his chest. But the most noticeable oddity about him were his ears. He had dog ears much like that of a Shiba Inu. The boy was asleep or at least that's what Kagome thought. She walked up to the sleeping boy and felt his intriguing ears. Then all of a sudden, a number of arrows flew at Kagome just nearly hitting her.
"Who goes there?!" demanded several men. The next thing we see is Kagome tied up. All the people around her are whispering their suspicions about her. Then an old woman in a priestess outfit emerges from the crowd.
"Make way for high priestess, Kaede!" a man's voice commands. The old woman starts yelling "Demon be gone!!" and throws white stuff at Kagome.
"I'm not a demon!" Kagome exclaims. Kaede starts questioning Kagome and while she is, she notices that Kagome looks oddly familiar. Later we see Kagome and Kaede sitting in a small house eating stew. While they are eating Kaede apologizes for the villagers' behavior. Suddenly outside there is a huge racket.
"It's a monster!!" someone is yelling. Kagome and Kaede run outside to see what's happening. It was the centipede from earlier, attacking the village.
"Give me the jewel!" the monster yells.
"You have the jewel?!" Kaede asks Kagome.
"No!" replies Kagome. But Kagome knows the monster is after her. She tries to lure it away by fleeing the village with the centipede chasing her. While she is running the scene switches back to the tree before. The boy pinned to the tree awakens.
"I smell it." he says menacingly, "The blood of the woman who killed me." He reaches down to try to remove the spell that is upon him, but Inuyasha is unable to remove the arrow from his chest. Meanwhile, Kagome is still being chased by the centipede, trips and ironically lands right in front of the recently awakened Inuyasha.
"Hello Kikyo," Inuyasha says. "What's taking you so long to kill it? Just do her in now like you did me." He pauses. "You look pretty dumb there, Kikyo. The Kikyo I know wouldn't waste her time."
Kagome who is now fed up with being called "Kikyo" stands up and says "Kikyo?!" Kikyo?! I'm not her, because my name is Ka-" but she is cut off by the centipede's sudden appearance. The monster is about to pounce on Kagome when the villagers show up and throw spears at it, distracting it away.
"You're pathetic, Kikyo." says Inuyasha.
"I'm not her!" exclaims Kagome.
"You gotta be!" retorts Inuyasha. "Because if your not, there's no way you could smell so- Wait. You're not her."
"I know!" Kagome says, but then the centipede monster grabs her from behind. Once again, Kagome repels the monster away by using hand. "How did I do that?" Kagome asks herself. The she looks down and notices her stomach is glowing! The centipede swoops down and bites Kagome's side. Out of her body, flies a tiny, purple orb. Is that the Sacred Jewel? Kagome thinks. She then falls to the ground. The centipede wraps itself around Kagome, so she is being squashed against the Scared Tree.
The monster gives a sinister laugh and proclaims "You can do nothing to stop me!" and she swallows the Sacred Jewel. Almost instantly the centipede transforms into an even more vile form.
"Hey," Inuyasha says, "Can you pull out this arrow?" Kagome looks up at the arrow sticking out of his chest.
"No!" yells Kaede. "If you release Inuyasha from the spell, he will be free to kill us all!"
"At least you'll have a chance with me, well as that thing is gonna eat you!" Inuyasha fires back. Kagome deciding, she did not want to be killed by the centipede, grabs the arrow. The arrow instantly disappears.
"My sister's spell vanished!" says Kaede shocked. Then...Inuyasha starts releasing a menacingly laugh. Inuyasha easily breaks through the vines holding him. While yelling "Iron-Reaver, Soul Stealer!" Inuyasha kills the centipede with one slash. Kagome then spots a piece of glowing flesh from the residue of the centipede and Kaede removes it.
"Why would a jewel wanted by demons be in my body?" Kagome asks.
"Exactly." Inuyasha says as she steps toward her. "The jewel is useless to humans. Hand it over now and I won't have to start sharpening my claws on you."
What?! He's not the hero? Kagome thinks as the episode ends.
