The Itemfinder

In the main series Pokemon games, the itemfinder was a tool that could locate hidden items in the world, it was a pretty handy feature. I believe this item could have a place in Pokemon Go, with rural areas having a low number of Pokestops, the itemfinder could locate and give the player Pokeballs, potions etc when in a field or area that isn't urbanised.

Do you guys think the itemfinder would work in Pokemon Go? If so how?

I really love this idea! It'd be an exciting way to get some new items which shouldn't really favour any type of players and it'd give something to look at whilst walking around other than just your avatar cruising slowly around the screen. Honestly I think this is a great idea and should definitely be implemented. It's so simple and yet never occurred to me at all haha. Only thing I'd be curious about is if everyone would see the same hidden items (making them a lot less hidden!) and if so, would it be a "first come first serve" basis? Or perhaps each phone generates hidden spots itself periodically which only that player can see and it's like a personal treasure hunt? Regardless I think it's a great idea and definitely one I want to see in the game.

I think the best way it would work would be similar to the Pokemon spawning, for example a specific item would spawn in one place and then after 15 minutes it would despawn. With this system every player could get the same item but it would still be a treasure hunt.

What if finding items happened that way naturally like finding Pokémon, and using the itemfinder (or dowsing machine) would be like using incense for items, where everyone finds their own items?
Just a thought. I'd be cool if the itemfinder got in in any capacity.

That could also be nice but I more want an Itemfinder to be added for the sake of having something else to look at whilst waking around tracking Pokémon. There isn't much to keep you occupied whilst walking currently but if an item tracking radar was added this'd feel a lot better. Getting extra/better items in any capacity is definitely a great thing and would be a very welcomed addition but I mostly want the interactive searching radar portion to be added haha.
