Spoiler:
Well here I am, going to tell you my life story. But not all at once. I suppose that I should tell you a little bit about the area I am in. You see an evil criminal syndicate has had an uprising after 3 years of silence. The world is filled with magical creatures that humans have domesticated that change over time. The creatures are mostly used for fighting, but others use them as helpers for healing, farming, and exploring. Battling with these creatures is recreational and sometimes extremely competitive. The best of the best give out items of honor for when they are rarely defeated. Though it doesn't stop there. A champion of a region is chosen after the previous one has been defeated. The champion of the region neighboring me has disappeared for six months now. There has been a wild rat chase to find him, even his mother does not know where he is.
But back to the evil organization. At first they seemed harmless, just chasing down creatures and capturing them in capsules just like anyone else, but to make them change faster they have taken over radio stations trying to find a certain sound wave to make them change. They have become ruthless and gone underground. I should tell you about me. At the time I was just ten, in fact my first day of my adventure. I was going out of the comfort of my parents home, going out on an adventure, going out to be the next champion of the region.
I had awaken out of bed in a mess. I had trouble sleeping, after all this was the day. Like a kangaroo I sprang out of my bed and got dressed. So I decided that I was done upstairs and was going to our living room just below my room. I went down noticing that my breakfast was made. The bacon was still popping, the juice was squeezed, the cereal already had milk in it, and my sweet mother was on the couch sipping her coffee. "Enjoy," I recalled that my mother said as I was walking over to the table with the succulent food prepared. It took me a while but I figured out that the radio was on quietly, playing my favorite song. It was as if she had planned it all out and was a psychic.
I had just ate the cereal down faster than I should, so I waited a little bit before taking a sip of my favorite orange juice and finished eating the bacon.
When walking away from the table my mom presented me my birthday gift. It was a cardboard box that I opened on the table. Inside was a white, red, and black backpack. "Look around," my mother said to me. I was looking and took out a box, "It is from your father," she said. I took a look and it was a pocket gear, the new high-tech watch from Silph. It fit like a glove on my wrist. I said thanks and that I would be going to see the Professor in his lab next to our house. I stepped outside and smelt the fresh air, it was the perfect day for me, as if everything was working my way.
I had stepped into the Professor's lab and he rushed in front of me. The professor was the scientific authority in the region. His lawn was always nice. He would send out gifts to everyone in the town on Christmas eve. "Ah, Gold there you are, I have been waiting!" you see Gold is my name. "Come here come here and pick one of these three," pointing at three spheres that were red and white. I looked at the signs that said "water", "grass", and "fire". I decided on the fire one. "Well, here have him for now," he grabbed the ball and pressed a button in which there was a red zap of electricity and the creature inside was released.
It was a strange creature, it was of the element fire, the tiny little mouse reptile was sniffing around my feet, which most animals tend to do. It looked up on me and was now sniffing my leg, then it looked at my face with its closed eyes and said something that sounded like "cinder".
"Ah, he likes you Gold, but be careful when holding him, his back might burn you," The professor said to me. "Now can you go out to see my old friend Carl? If you can't find him easily here is a map," said the professor. "I need you to do this because Carl called me to say that he had a rare discovery that I should go over there and see. But I do not have that sort of time," He said. I took the map and said my thanks before being stopped by the professors assistant.
"Here boy take this, it might help in a pinch," the assistant spoke. What he gave me was a spray that could heal wounds on my new little fiery friend. "It won't do much, but it will still help for such a little guy." After this I was on my way, out of the town where I lived, out of the town of new trees, trees with the strangest bark, and only east of the town where cherries blossomed every time of the year, even winter.
Immediately when I got out of the laboratory, the little capsule that my new partner was in burst open with enough kick to knock the wind out of you, my flaming creature started sniffing the ground, it had not been outside in months, and I thought, "why should he not be able to be outside running along with me?" so I decided for him to stay out until I got back from running Elm's errand, oh, I forgot to tell you, the professor's name was Elm. Anyway I should probably say that the little guy was not actually mine yet, he just lent him to me. So I was going on the narrow path leading towards the next town, the cherry town, and saw someone next to me in the tall grass, you see, the tall grass was not a very good place to be, considering all sorts of creatures would come out and attack you. But this person was throwing the same sort of capsules that I had at them and they were sucked into the thing. I just causally ignored it and went on with the path, only a few spots I held my breath and ran through because I knew that I might get attacked by the creatures, luckily I did not have to experience a battle just yet, and I finally got back to the path were there was a split in the road, I looked at the map and it showed that the path going forward led to the next town, but to the side it just said berries. I looked around and saw a little bush and a kid. The kid was picking the berries that were bright blue in color and closely resembled a baseball in shape and size. I suppose I could tell you this now but baseball was the second biggest sport in our region, with teams named after some business corporations and some of those mysterious creatures. But that is seriously out of the current subject. So it appeared as the boy picked the berries the tree would shake and shiver from the loss of its fruit. I walked up to the little boy and said , "Hey there! What are you picking off the tree?"
"O hello, I am just picking some regular old berries. I have heard that they can help restore you and your little buddy's energy a bit. Here why don't you take some! There is plenty to go around," the boy replied handing me some of the blue berries which I put into a sealed pouch of my backpack so if they leek, it does not cover everything inside.
"Thanks!" I said and casually walked away from him. I was also almost out of the small route to the town of cherry blossoms. Cherry Grove town, one of my few stops on the way towards my destination. Almost immediately after walking into the town and seeing the flowers dance in the wind, an old man came running up to me and started to speak.
"Hey there kid do you know your way around towns? Here come on a view of this place and see some of the buildings set up around the region." I decided to walk with him only to find out that the little sightseeing showed me some of the most important buildings to look for. The beautiful sights that he showed me were all masterfully crafted, there was a store filled with only items that can fit in your pocket, and there was a huge hospital near the gate of the town also. The nice old man took out a pair of shoes and proclaimed, "Here kid, why don't you have these running shoes. They are a lot more convenient than the regular walking shoes, and they are better for climbing and going across great distances."
"You sir have been just too kind to me today sir!" I spoke with a calm and clear voice. With that we parted and I tried out the new running shoes, they felt great and did not restrict my legs at all. It was around four o'clock now and I thought that I should hurry up before it gets dark out. After leaving Cherry Grove my fiery friend and I were alone together. We were on another route but this time on the one towards Carl's house, which was in the middle of the whole passage. Still trying to avoid any confrontations in the grass as tall as a yard stick, but on the small amount of dirt road that there was some kids were fighting right in the middle of the place. It looked very intense and with the little purple rat creatures fighting each other, I did not want to battle at all, seeing them fight over nothing. These seemingly harmless animals were fighting as if they were a great leopard hunting prey. This hit me as brutality because of them making these almost wiped out things fight. These trainers disgusted me, but I had to continue to go towards Carl's place. There was just a few steps to go to get out of the taller grass, but I looked up and a bird swooped down and tried to attack my partner. It missed and I decided to run the rest of the distance, even though I was wiped out. I had finally gotten to Carl's house, I stepped in and to my surprise the famous Professor Oak was inside! Professor Oak was intrigued in evolution, while Elm was concerned with eggs of the "monsters".
"Ah hello! You must be Gold from New Bark town, since I am here anyway I will not have to track you down!," Oak laughed, "But here is the reason, I want you to have the newest version of my work, the Dex V2. It is capable of tracking everything you see in this region, so here take it, I must be going soon." Oak gave it to me and left the building.
"Well Gold if you did not know I am Carl and I want you to take this egg back to Elm," I took the egg and was on my way. On the way back to Cherry Grove I took a shortcut through the route and noticed that the battle between the two boys was over, but I could not tell who won in the end. This time I got back and it was around five o'clock, and it was getting dark fast, but I had my flashlight.
I had got back to cherry grove and went to the hospital to get some information on the place. The nurse told me that, "We can heal up to only six creatures at once for express services, if there are more it may take a while." Going back to the first route that I got on I was stopped by a kid with red hair. He said nothing and threw out the same blue thing that was on the sign that said water. I had sent out my little guy, knowing that he wanted to fight.
I was surprised to know how powerful these things were. What we did was say commands for our creatures to attack, defend, or use special moves. His being of water tried to scratch my being with fire, but my little fiery friend got a lucky shot with a tackle and took his what I believe is called "Toto" down. He gave me reward money and ran off. I felt like a victor and had a march back to Professor Elm's lab.
When I stepped in I was once again surprised to see that there was a police officer saying, "Hey! Kid did you see somebody with red hair run past with a little Crocodile?" I supposed I had to reply, so I said yes. "Well did you get a name?", I had troubles trying to distinguish everything that he mumbled, but I suppose I heard Silver. "Silver eh? I will look into it, you know stealing these guys is extremely against law, and will cause time in a cell." So that was one thing, do not steal. After this the policeman walked out.
"Well did you find Carl?" Elm said, I replied yes and gave him the egg. "Well I guess that this is an important part of my research but I need it to hatch first, so why don't you take it and message me with your Pocket Gear when it hatches." And with that I walked back to my house and saw my mom sleeping quietly on the couch. So I walked up the stairs and went to bed.

I would like to know when you figured where the story took place and what it was about.
