I think she just was. It's kinda like God, I suppose. I mean, the Creation story says that he created earth. I think it's much like what happened with Mew. She just appeared, she just was, and always was, and always will be. She is the earth and air, she is the water and fire. She is all, knows all, and loves all.

Wow... I think I just created the god of all Pokmeon there... O_o;

Ok, my favorite legend is the little fairy Celebi
However the gender topic it was really good... personally I tought than celebi is femenine and mew is male... Why this? Well, when I see the first movie I thought in a little kid like my little bro when I see to Mew... is so childish X3
However also I tought than than could be the reason why Mewtwo is male.... If you consider it... do a genetical modification of gender could be a really expensive process and do less factible do a clone for the staff of scientitst than created to mewtwo
Howver for the another legends I don't toughted so much about the gender...
