So I'm a fan of what may be the most underrated manga on the planet, The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer. (No, I didn't write that wrong; that's the actual title.)

I'm gonna botch the description, so here's a synopsis from TVTropes. (It's so obscure it doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry!)

Yuuhi, a college student, wakes up one morning to find a talking lizard informing him that the world is in great danger, with a mage plotting to destroy it with the gigantic "Biscuit Hammer" floating in space. To stop them, he must join forces with the other knights and protect the princess, who stands in the way of the mage's plot.

Unfortunately for the lizard, Yuuhi wants no part in saving the world, and the princess would much rather destroy it herself!

What the summary doesn't mention is the TTGL-level badassery (albeit on a slightly smaller scale). It's a seinen manga, and despite the seemingly simplistic plot it has a surprising amount of emotional depth.

I'd really, really encourage people to give it a look! It does start out slowly, but it hits its pace around Chapter 10 and keeps getting better from there.

You can read it on Onemanga.

I just found this manga by chance somewhere....... boy am I glad I checked it out. My first impression when I saw the title was.. meh. But I was curious since I rarely check out mangas with weird names. I truly got interested. I can't really explain but The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer is amazing! It gets better in the later chapters, may look boring at the start.... but the comedy parts makes up for it.

The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer / Wakusei no Samidare (64 chapters).

An enormous weapon hovers above the planet. It is the 'Biscuit Hammer', the ultimate creation of the the Mage, Animus. With the destruction of the planet in the near future, the Princess, Anima, enlists the aid of 12 Knights to stop the hammer from destroying the world.

As one of the many animals send to recruit the selected Knights, Noi Crezant, a talkative and imperious lizard, arrives in Amamiya Yuuhi's dormitory to declare that he was chosen to participate in the battle with the role of the 'Lizard Knight', however, Noi meets opposition as Yuuhi wants nothing to do with his proposal. Furthermore, the person selected to overtake the role of the 'princess', the leader of the knights, would much rather be the one to destroy the world with her own hands than save it from destruction.
