Introduced in Generation IV, The Masuda Method is a way to acquire Shiny Pokemon.

Here's a description from Bulbapedia on how it works:

    - If an egg is bred from two Pokémon which were created in games of a different language from one another (either by capture or by breeding), the resulting egg is four times as likely to be shiny when it is generated. For example, a Vileplume which was generated in a Japanese game that is bred with a Ditto originating in an English game will result in a higher likelihood of the Oddish that hatches from the egg being shiny.

The chances of having a shiny Pokémon in the egg will increase to 1/2048 instead of the usual 1/8192.

So have any of you used this method? Has it worked? If not, do you plan on
    trying it?

I have tried it once, on a Beldum, and it worked after several hours.

I'm working on getting a shiny Treecko via this method. :) My friend was trying this with Ponyta on his SoulSilver, and the game froze on him. I don't know why it happened though.

Ah the Masuda Method what a wonderful thing
as you probably guessed from that^ it has and is still working for me almost 40 some odd Shiny pokemon hatched and counting whats weird is it won't work for my Cousin she tries and tries but to no avail. I do not even really care for shinies :) and man does that make her mad :) .

Instead of trying for a specific species of Pokemon, I'm simply leaving a German ditto in the daycare center with whatever Pokemon I'm breeding. Maybe one of these days I'll get lucky.

I considered trying this and using the Pikachu from the Pikachu event my boyfriend got for me, but breeding became tedious, so I just gave up. If I had lots of time, I'd probably try this properly.

i tried and failed, tried and failed, tried and sucess. i like it but not really into shinies anymore
