The most unused and unkown pokemon

Clamperl is probably one from the Hoenn set that is really disregarded in my opinion. I hardly see anything on the little thing. Although it could be because it evolves into Huntail (eww) and the other one...Gorbis or something?

Hey, I think Huntail is cool (Not very strong, but cool) so don't dis it. xO

Clamperl isn't the least acknowledged one either because of the loveliness of Deepseatooth, a hold item which gives it a SAtk higher than Mewtwo's. Now if Clamperl were only faster and had a better movepool it would be the best friggen' special sweeper in the game. xD

On the underused front...yes, Sunkern and Sunflora are good bets because they suffer of the bad movepool + bad statline combination. Beldum and Unown also fit into that category (For obvious reasons) and it's rare to see Lileep and Anorith either. Generally, it's the weak ones (E.g. Sableye, Delibird etc.) that get ignored. Magikarp is an exception here because it has (Thanks to a joint effort from the anime and the games) become the weak pokémon that everyone knows, so you can't really call it unknown. Besides, it sees a lot of use because it gets trained up to Gyarados. Hmm....Nosepass is virtually unused (Thank goodness) and so are things like Luvdisc, Illumise and Volbeat. Some of those do see some use in the competitive NU battles, so you can't really say that there's any utterly neglected pokémon out there.

Hope that was a bit clearer than mud. xD

Heh, don't get me wrong, I love Clamperl, and I only dis Huntail because of its...physical aspects (I know that was shallow but I can't help it when I see that thing =_=).

Dunsparce definitely (lol). When I first saw that thing in that cave during G&S I was thought it was another potential Magikarp. But it never evolved :'(. That was a good one.

I gotta agree with Johto's set being one of the most unknown and unused. Most of them are just plain bad or are probably disregarded for some other reasons, like the way they look and certain move sets. But it's also due to some of its Pokemon being so damn commercialised. Lugia, Ho-oh, and the dogs are pretty serviced. Umbreon especially as well. I personally like Chinchou and Lanturn. Does anyone use them? I find opposite elemental Pokemon fascinating.

Lanturn is actually pretty big competitively since it resists the notorious Boltbeam combo (Electric and Ice attack on the same set) which otherwise bypasses virtually any type combination. Incidentally, I love Huntail for its physical aspects, it's the movepool that it can be dised for. xD

As for Dunsparce...*Growl* It's true that it got the shaft in G/S/C, but in Advance if it had a slightly higher statline it would be a virile beast because of Serene Grace (+30% success rate for all added effects of attacks). Every faced haxsparce? First it paralyzes (50% chance of a failed attack) then it goes berserk with Headbutt or Rock Slide (60% chance of failure provided that you got off from that 50% chance of failure) some also stack on Attract (Another 50% chance of failure) and adding those together...well, that's a lot of failed attacks. I actually beat the ugly out of a Mewtwo with a Dunsparce once. xD

Johto is the most underused because it didn't get a proper advance generation comeback like R/B/Y did (Still wish they'd have made a remake of G/S/C instead <.<) which is pretty silly considering that it was really the most innovative generation thus far. The legendary cats (A lion, a lynx, and a sabertooth tiger = not dogs xO) bask in the glory of being legendaries, so they always get love. Same with Lugia and Ho-oh...*Sigh* Shallow people...a lot of Johto pokémon are actually really cool, and many are extremely powerful (E.g. Steelix, Umbreon and Heracross), so I blame the lack of advance coverage (and the mentioned over-hype of certain other pokes) for their shunning.

Well said, Alter. Anyway, my choices would be Tangela and Bellossom. They're great pure Grass types not hampered by Ground moves (as Grass/Poison is all the rage) or mega hybrid weakness. Unfortunately, their lack of decent speed is what keeps them out of the real game (I don't know Tangela's but Bellossom or mine can't clear 200 SP at least), and most of the time, Speed for the first attack counts. I think that's why people don't use them as much.

But the Pokemon with the shortest stick of all is Paras/Parasect as it is slow, two double weakness (Fire and Flying), and its attack moves aren't so strong. However, its status effects are so lovely. Plus, a Bug/Grass combo is a good idea, but it needs a Pokemon that can pull it off. Maybe it will get an evo in the newer Generations and compensate. Maybe.

As to Shuckle or Wobbuffet: Shuckle has 600 DF and SP DF easy (if trained to 100), so don't scoff as it has the highest defense in the game (so far). Plus, its hybrid mix make it difficult to take it down so easily. Wobbuffet requires an expert to use or someone with knowledge all the move sets and to be aware of all contingencies. It's definitely a "Thinking Man's Pokemon". Since there are those who can't/won't think and/or have the patience to train it, it's why it's so underused, when it really shouldn't be. It's a shame.
