So I was in my PC admiring my legendaries when I stumbled upon Zygarde. And as I stared at him for a few seconds, I started wondering what his role really is in the Pokemon universe. We know that Xerneas represents life and Yveltal represents death, so what would Zygarde represent? What do you expect to see from him in Z (story-wise)?
Personally, I think there's a few possibilities. Because he's a worm/snake that can possibly shed, maybe that means Zygarde represents rebirth? That's somewhat in between life and death but it's really shifting more towards life. In addition, maybe, rather than representing something separate from life/death, he controls both? Zygarde has traits that suggest that he could be midway between the two (for me, at least :P).
(Going off of the above theory) If Team Flare returns in the next game, maybe their goal will be to capture Zygarde to knock two birds out with one stone?
