So I was in my PC admiring my legendaries when I stumbled upon Zygarde. And as I stared at him for a few seconds, I started wondering what his role really is in the Pokemon universe. We know that Xerneas represents life and Yveltal represents death, so what would Zygarde represent? What do you expect to see from him in Z (story-wise)?

Personally, I think there's a few possibilities. Because he's a worm/snake that can possibly shed, maybe that means Zygarde represents rebirth? That's somewhat in between life and death but it's really shifting more towards life. In addition, maybe, rather than representing something separate from life/death, he controls both? Zygarde has traits that suggest that he could be midway between the two (for me, at least :P).

(Going off of the above theory) If Team Flare returns in the next game, maybe their goal will be to capture Zygarde to knock two birds out with one stone?

In my opinion I believe Zygarde is met to balance the other two like how Rayquaza balances Groudon and Kyogre. For the upcoming game I theorize that the ultimate weapon's fuel is both Yveltal and Xerneas at the same time. Team flare will capture both force them to use their energy and then Zygarde will then awaken stop the two of them and boom you now have to face Zygarde. Time wise might be hard it can act as a sequel (if it is my theory is flawed) but if it acts as just an updated version of x and y with new elements then my theory can work.

Zygarde is classified as the "order pokémon" so I'm guessing it represents some sort of balance between life and death. Its pokédex descriptions may also imply this. The descriptions are:

X: "When the Kalos region's ecosystem falls into disarray, it appears and reveals its secret power."

Y: "It's hypothesized that it's monitoring those who destroy the ecosystem from deep in the cave where it lives."

The "secret power" mentioned could be a transformation into an alternate form or mega evolution. Guess we'll just have to wait for Z (or X2/Y2, whatever they call it/them) to come out to know for sure.....
