NBA BASKETBALL CHALLENGE
Hello everyone! We're in the midst of the NBA Playoffs, but the Challenge is not restricted to the NBA Season!
As basketball has a lineup of five, you MUST complete the challenge with a team of five unless you choose a team that has specific rules on the number of Pokemon. There are no restrictions on hacking/trading, but please refrain from the use of Rare Candies.
Certain Legendaries apply depending on your team.
For your team of five, each Pokemon must be assigned a position, which has certain requirements:
Point Guard (PG): Has to be under 10 feet tall with a Speed above 80 base. Remember that PG's are always quick and play a large role in the team's performance.
Example: Jolteon
Shooting Guard (SG): This player is a definite scorer, even if it plays a limited role on the team. Must have a base above 90 in Attack or Special Attack.
Example: Shiftry
Small Forward (SF): A little less quicker than PG's but superior in Strength. Think of players like LeBron James, who are extremely strong yet agile. Must have an Attack or Special Attack at above 80 base with a Defense or Special Defense at or above 80 base.
Example: Salamence
Power Forward (PF): Usually specializes in strength, post-ups and rebounding. As such, this player will have at or above 90 in Defense or Special Defense.
Example: Swampert
Center (C): The tall man. The guy who will clean up each miss and protect the basket. Not afraid to go up strong and put blocked shots into the fourth row.
Must be the tallest Pokemon on your team.
Example: Snorlax
Note: You must choose one of these teams, which all have certain characteristics:
Miami Heat: You are allowed to use ANY Legendary but ONLY in the Small Forward spot. This is because their star player is LeBron James. Your strongest Pokemon must be your SF.
Brooklyn Nets: Your strongest Pokemon has to be your Point Guard. Because your team has veteran leadership, you can use a 600 BST Legendary in either the SF or PF spots (Garnett and Pierce)
Indiana Pacers: Your strongest Pokemon can either be your C or your SG (Hibbert and George). No Legendaries can be used, but you have the option to pick another Pokemon to be your "sixth man" that can be anything. (Lance Stephenson)
Washington Wizards: The youthful Wiz have a deadly combo of Bradley Beal and John Wall. Your Wizards should have the PG and SG as the strongest Pokemon.
Los Angeles Clippers: Your team has a star PG in Chris Paul. Blake Griffin is among the league's best Power Forwards. You can have a 600 BST Legendary (Birds, Beasts, Regis, Elves etc.) in either the PG or PF spot. Also, with Jamal Crawford as the two-time Sixth Man of the Year, pick any non-Legendary Pokemon.
Oklahoma City Thunder: A star SF in Kevin Durant plus a cast of PG Russell Westbrook and C Serge Ibaka sees a prominent run for this team. Any Legendary can be used only in the SF spot.
San Antonio Spurs: A balanced team all-around. No level restrictions and you can use a "sixth man".
Memphis Grizzlies: Though eliminated, the Griz fought tooth and nail against the Thunder. There are no level restrictions and your C does not have to be the tallest on your team.
Dallas Mavericks: A true veteran in Dirk Nowitski plus the young Monta Ellis at Point saw the Mavs almost upset the Spurs in the first round. You can use a 600 BST Legendary at the PF spot.
Golden State Warriors: Young superstars such as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson made this team a threat to the Clips. Your PG should be your strongest Pokemon and nicknamed Curry. Your SG can be any non-legendary you choose.
Chicago Bulls: With star PG Derrick Rose absent for the entirety of 2013-14, the Bulls were unable to reach the second round. You can use any Legendary you choose at the PG spot, but it cannot be used until the Pokemon League Playoffs begin (Elite Four).
Houston Rockets: A deadly combo of James Harden and Dwight Howard made the Rockets a presence. You can choose any one Legendary for C or SG, or you can choose two 600 BST Legendaries in the C and SG spots.
Portland Trail Blazers: Young guns LaMarcus Aldridge ad Damien Lillard vaulted Rip City to success in Round 1. Choose a 600 BST Legendary for either PF or PG.
Toronto Raptors: Another blossoming young team in the East. No level restrictions but at least one Eeveelution must be on your team. Nickname one of your Pokemon "Drake" after their most famous fan.
Atlanta Hawks: A surprise to absolutely everyone, ATL was a game away from upsetting the Pacers in the first round. No level restrictions, but you can sub any Pokemon at any time for something that fits the criteria.
Charlotte Bobcats: A young team full of heart, though it got swept by division foe Miami. Choose any non-Legendary you want for the PG spot.
Phoenix Suns: An unfortunate snub from the Playoffs, Phoenix won roughly 50 games with their nameless cast. You are not allowed to nickname and you are allowed a "sixth man".
New York Knicks: A miss of the Playoffs left this group of perennial All-Stars frustrated. Your SG and SF (JR Smith and Carmelo Anthony) must hog all of the experience and your PG, C and PF cannot go above Level 50.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Despite another stellar year from PF-C Kevin Love, Minny was unable to reach a .500 record. Your C does not have to be the tallest, but it must be the best on your team. If you choose to add a sixth man, it must be above 4 feet tall.
Cleveland Cavaliers: The highlight of Cleveland's season was Kyrie Irving. Your best Pokemon should be your PG. If you can trade at one point, you must.
Denver Nuggets: Losing GM Masai Ujiri had a Domino Effect on Denver's 2013-14 campaign. You must release one Pokemon from your team to have four.
Detroit Pistons: Possibly the biggest failure of expectations besides New York, this team didn't improve after offseason signings and trades. Your SF or PF (Josh Smith) must know a move with less than 60 accuracy to represent Smith's historically worst three-point percentage. Nickname your SF "Brick" too.
New Orleans Pelicans: A team with some promise for the future, but not in the present. Use at least one Psychic type to represent that.
Boston Celtics: Being the favorite team of yours truly, it was difficult for people to see the Celts struggle the way they did. Your PG (Rajon Rondo) must be your strongest, while the C does not have to be the tallest. Since I will choose the Celtics, I will nickname my team after the starting lineup.
Sacramento Kings: Overshadowed by rumors of relocation, the Kings looked like a decent team on paper with Isiah Thomas, DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. One of your team members should be caught using royal purple Master Ball!
Orlando Magic: A tragic team on the road, in fact so bad that they looked homesick. Report to your home town after grabbing eight badges. Your team can ignore the restrictions on positions.
Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakeshow looked more like comedy hour after losing NBA great Kobe Bryant early in the year. You must learn to play without Kobe, so your SG must not be used until the Elite Four. No level restrictions.
Utah Jazz: After barely missing the Playoffs a year before at the hands of the Lakers, it seemed that nothing went right in 13-14 for Utah. Play with three Pokemon that follow the criteria. No level restrictions.
Philadelphia 76ers: Became the best joke in the NBA after losing 26 straight games. Purposely lose a battle twice to show you're tanking for the future! No level restrictions.
Milwaukee Bucks: The worst record in the whole NBA, managing to do worse than the above team that lost 26 straight. Use three PGs instead of SG or SF. To make this possible, ignore the "80 base Speed" rule for your PGs.
