dude i love sarcasm, just look at my claims. my claimed words are sarcasm and irony, and sarcasm is a form of verbal irony -_-

Impressionism-
the recording of events or situations as they have been impressed upon the mind and deals with the vague thoughts and rememberances; realism with objective facts

And example of impressionism can be found in the French Symbolist Movement

As for me, I got that definition from what I learned in art class.
We were using impressionism to make coffee mugs.
 
A lot of different dictionaries have different meanings for one word, so most likely, you were taught by people who used different dictionaries.
