The New Super Smash Bros. Brawl Thread

Target Test? Okay, I'm up for that. Time to dust off the old Melee disc, lol. Also Game and Watch is my favorite character (coolness-wise) so far, people wanted him cut? That's so mean :(

Also, I might as well unlock Wolf since both college games on now are kind of blowouts and my friend is a Starfox nut. I've personally never heard of Wolf.

With that said, I'd like to beat him at his own game (he's a lot better than me, lol) with Wolf. Then again, I always used Bowser in Melee, so it would be quite a different feel. I've used Pit, Meta Knight, and Lucario mostly. Luigi and Snake are pretty good. I've found sonic to be a pain to try and control, but then again me using speedy characters...epic fail.

Alright, thanks guys. I am such a wreck at this game...but hey, it's still a lot of fun ;)

But yeah, Brawl is pretty awesome...I have to ask, is Wolf worth the trouble to get? It just seems like another Fox clone. When I beat boss Battle with Fox, Wolf destroyed me (because I'm awful at Brawl)...and I fail with super speedy characters. Is it worth the time?

I think Falco is a Fox clone. He is just Fox with a different model and sounds. Fox only jumps slightly higher

Fox actually wasn't worth the trouble. But thats probably because I don't use him very much. I just use Lucario all the time

Lawl yah falco is a clone the only thing different is the reflector thingy
Have any of you heard his brooklyn accent? o_O

I just unlocked Wolf and did a bunch in the training with him. wow, he's an awful lot like Fox, but he at least seems slower. I hate his side tilt B move, which is pretty much suicide if you're anywhere close to the edge. Eh, I guess Fox and Falco have similar moves. The blaster at least does more than Fox's (though Fox can shoot way more shots at a time, so meh) and looks cooler. As far as unlocking him, I used the character I'm best with (Pit) and he was just drilling me. Luckily an assist trophy came which got him to a position in the stage where he couldn't recover, lol. I got lucky.

Either way, with this whole team of fox characters, I used Game and Watch to dish out punishment...only for Wolf to get the final smash and run me out of the green hill zone >.>

But yeah, now that I've unlocked everything I can have some friends over and hopefully do okay lol.

Out of curiosity, what method of control do you all use? For me, I use the GC controller since that is the most confortable for me. Personally I really hated the feel of the remote/nunchuck control scheme.

I unlocked G&W and Sonic eariler today. Haven't really started the SSE yet.

I hated unlocking Ganondorf.
Spoiler:
(in his dark link costume :D) Took around 8-10 minutes I think. So I get killed by Ganondorf the first time and have to do the whole thing over again. >_>

Sonic was annoying too. I used Ganondorf the first time, got killed. (obviously)
Used Falco the second and third times. Beat him after spamming Falco Phantasm and shooting items.

~~~
I use the GCN controller with "Wiimote" and nunchuck on the side. (for the nonexistant second player :P)
Spoiler:
I unlocked Ganondorf the same way, only I was right at the stage in SSE where you can unlock him by collecting a few trophies >.> Oopsies! What's worse is that I'm aweful with Link. Just awful. I unlocked characters up to R.O.B. with Brawl matches and the rest I used SSE to unlock.
Also, I rejoiced to the heavens when I saw Big Blue was a playable Melee stage. It's my favorite stage of all-time.
Unlocking things in Brawl wasn't nearly as challenging as it was in Melee. But hey, the characters are better now (though I miss Mewtwo) and there are more stages.
I wish you luck in SSE, it can get extremely tedious and some enemies...ew. Still, it's pretty fun overall. The Great Maze I actually enjoyed the most, so I'd say it gets better as you go along. VERY interesting sotryline, I won't give it away...
Once you beat SSE, so much of the game opens up it isn't even funny. so I'd...complete it ASAP. At least it isn't total torture.
Personally, I find Mr. G&W a hard character to master. I also find Wolf to be like Ganon to Capt. Falcon when compared to Fox. In my experience, he does more damage, his Landmaster is the most unique in the sense that in does more DMG% by running into people/barrel rolling. His blaster is also different in three ways.
1. Less knockback than Falco's.
2. Slower, shorter ranged, and about 2-5% stronger than Fox's or Falco's.
3. If you use it when touching your opponent, (such as with Luigi's Up-B) It does a shock for 2-3% before firing for about 9% per blast.
Also, GC controller.
Wolf is actually completely different from Fox. All his Smashes are completely different, his Blaster has much shorter range, his Side-B now moves vertically, and his Up-B is much quicker than Fox' or Falco's. Not to mention he's slower and all.
Anti, if you're not good at Brawl, I'd highly recommend picking a character who's easy to pick up and use, like Ike or Marth. Also, read some FAQs. They'll help you understand how to use your character, among other things.
It took a while, but I finally mastered Ness. He's great. I was always good with Ice Climbers, and Jigglypuff kicks aerial ass. Of course, Luigi is great, as are the Links.
Just keep practicing.
I got the hang of him in Melee after a while. His foward and upward smashes are powerful; I use them a lot to kill opponents. Downard smash doesn't do much in my opinon. His recovery in Brawl is much better now that he has the parachute effect.
My fav chars are metaknight lucario and ROB. My brothers really good with Ike
and he funny thing is wenever I play as ROB I waste my brother whoever he plays as.And hes alot better than me at video games.
My best characters are Meta Knight, Lucas, R.O.B., and Luigi. I also do average with Snake.
From what I see, Snake and Ike are overpowered. Although it's really Snake's Smash Attacks that are overpowered. Also, Charizard's Side-B is about the equivalent to Snake's Side Smash. In my experience, anyways.
Sidenote: Anyone have any SSE boss trophies? I've managed to score Porky, Duon, Galleom(sp?), and even Tabuu. I caught Ridley, but it fell off the edge of the stage.
I usually play with Falco, Luigi, and Ganondorf.
I use Wario and G&W for fun.
I'm not very good with R.O.B. Well, I don't stink with him, but I don't own with him either.
I do like his smash attacks, airel attacks, and FS, though. (feel free to ask about why I like that "weak" move)
Snake's smash attacks are so..."different". His upward smash has incredible range, and his downward smash has the properties of a motion-sensor bomb. It stinks that you can only set one at a time... On the other hand, Snake's very slow and doesn't jump all that high. He also just hides in his box for his taunts. (but with different speeds for the up and down taunts)
It's obvious that it was a joke by the developers.
(btw, anybody know what Falco says when he calls the Landmaster? I don't know what the last word is.)
Thanks for the link airconditioning, I've been reading through those non-stop today.
I think I'm going to use Ike, or maybe Ganondorf. Mr. Game and Watch as well as Wolf are also possibilities, but everything else I doubt I'd use as my "main character." Any tips or ideas?
Also...I have to ask...what was the most embarrassing defeat you have suffered?
I would really recommend Ike or Marth- they're very beginner friendly. Or you can try to master a tough character, such as my favorite, Ness.
Also...I have to ask...what was the most embarrassing defeat you have suffered?
All of them. Most of my defeats come from:
- Smashing my head into the platform while trying to recover with Ness' PK Thunder.
- The HORRIBLE UNBEARABLE FREAKING LAG that I always get on Wi-Fi- even on With Friends matches.
- Any time I lose to Lucas. I hold a grudge against anyone that would dare show up my favorite character.
Air, how dare you. Ness is MY CHARACTER! Him and Luigi. And Link. And Ice Cllimbers. And Kirby.
I hate that lag as well .It prevents me from ever using Ness on wifi. PK Thun-oh, crap. Down I go.
Well, I am one to take on a challenge, so I am taking on Ike. I have a grudge against Marth, so I won't use it. Besides, I'm more into heavyweight stuff and Ike seems like the best. I'll certainly try out the evil Marth though.
I know sims uses Ness too. I'm nowhere close to skilled anough to tackle that...kid.
As for my most embarrassing defeat, it was when my friend, who is even worse than me, KOed Bowser when it had taken almost no damage...with Fox. I don't know how that managed to happen >.>
Well, too bad. I've been using him since Melee.
I can imagine this. Bowser is slow as hell, while Fox is as fast as hell. It's only natural that Fox should be able to get heaps of damage on Bowser before the match goes on for ten seconds. Plus, Fox is really easy to use.
Bah! I've been using him (and defending him) since the original!
I really hate Bowser's new side special.
