So Im sure everyone has found out about it. However, there is one thing that concerns me. They banned pokemon that were transferred via poke'bank. This kind of hinders players, such as myself, who built teams the legit way without hacking.
I understand that this is done so that people would refrain from using hacked pokemon, but this kinda obliterates all the hard work done in the previous generation lol.

It doesnt really make me mad really, just makes me hope that they will someday allow us to play a tournament with our previous poke's if we chose to. "cough" raikou "cough"

Well if not, there is always random match ups available online I guess!

  • Actually, I don't know of transferd pokemon will actually be able to be used in random matchup ethier.
So far they are banned from two(?) tournaments, so I'm just pointing out that they might be banned from all tournaments and random matchup/batlespot. Who knows tho.
    I doubt this tho.
They will likely be able to be used in Randomatch up and battlespot.

  • But you can use a Feraligatr who was bred in X&Y, right? (Just an example).

I'd assume so as it was not technically transferred. Also already having the perfect pokemon (or being able to get the perfect pokemon via 6V Ditto) really won't matter. It's like replicating it to be stronger or the same with a couple eggs (unless you're trying to get a shiny).

Training isn't tedious, hordes and Supertraining being the reason. I'll also assume that all pokemon will be set to 50 if they are leveled higher than 50, which is not a huge deal to be honest.

Doesn't really matter to me then. I am starting from scratch as it is. I don't have any previous games.
Last game I played which wasn't on an emulator, was Ruby :P

  • Well i think this is mostly because they didnt want old tutor moves to carry over to the actual game.
As far as we know pokemon offsprings will NOT inherit tutor moves from parents while breeding (and i already miss my tailwind+bugbite scizor lol)

  • I just really REALLY want to get a Yanmask transferred for Coffagrigus, he's such a cool ghost type and I never really used him last gen. I hope they let you breed them when you Transfer them over.

You cannot use any Pokemon that is not Native to the Kalos Region in the first few tournaments.

They say that you can only use Pokemon found in the Central, Costal and Mountain Pokedexes.

So no Pokemon you transfer, nor their babies can be used in the up coming tournament.

This limitation has existed in every generation with Wifi capabilities.

i.e. No you cannot use Feraligatr because its not a Kalos Native.

This is because not everyone will have access to the Pokebank at the time the tournament starts. And they want us to just use what was already available in game. We can breed the parents with Kalos specific Pokemon to breed Egg moves in but that is all we can do with Breeding.

If they cannot be found in the Central Kalos Pokedex, Mounain Kalos Pokedex, or Costal Kalos Pokedex, they cannot be used in the up coming tournament.

What about some of the Pokemon found in Friend Safaris? There's quite a few that can't be found in the Central, Kalos or Mountain Dex
